Faulty system and high costs
Inherited a faulty system when I purchased the property. The alarm keeps going off whilst unset, in the middle of the night and during the day when I am not at the property. I don't even use the alarm and just want to turn it off. Having spoken to them quoted: £250+vat call out and £120.00+vat per hour labour. So it if going to cost me £444 to deativate an alarm system I do not want and did not install. I would not recommend as running costs of having a system are extemtly high.

What made my experience great was the excellent engineer. What made it less great was the fact that he was booked for an afternoon slot (which I noted in my diary), then, on confirmation, of the appointment, he was booked for a morning slot. Come on, Spy Alarms, make up your mind!
Finally, I thought the increase in costs this year was rather excessive.
Conclusion: Could do better.

charged for a service I never got.
I was charged £153 by Spy for the annual maintenance contract on my alarm, even though Spy didn't come and maintain it. They came by in January unannounced, I was at work, so they couldn't get access. They had emailed me at a now defunct email address and hadn't realised it was bouncing back as it was an automated email. When I called to say I was happy to pay the £153 and would do so after they had maintained my alarm, I was told the maintenance was "free" but the £153 was an annual fee cover the costs if I ever needed to call them between "free" services. So I needed to pay it regardless of whether they came. It was also my fault that I hadn't called them to ensure they had an updated email address when I changed jobs. I am currently rebooking my "free" service and then cancelling as life to too short to have to work with companies like this.

The contract also includes other benefits such as, reduced call out & labour charges, 4-hour response time in the event of a fault, out of hours engineer, technical support over the phone for remote reset & 365 days a year protection. I would like to look into the reasons behind the service appointment that didn't go ahead. After having a few issues, Becky DeBeer took the time to listen to the background story, and took action to resolve them. Becky is friendly, but professional. At every point throughout our this, she has told me exactly what action she'd take and when she would contact me with an update.

What do you have to do for a response ?
We had a female engineer who came to complete our annual service on our alarm system on 9/1/25 she was very pleasant and kind. However after she left we realised that a sensor on our front door was flashing continuously. We immediately rang and informed the company of our problem. Despite numerous calls and various staff spoken to we are still waiting a visit ? a response? Very disappointed and let down by your company. We expected better and have been used to a better standard of “care”than this.

What was a One Star negative review is now 5 star positive. I’ve been promised and assured from the Spy Alarms Sales Manager that ALL service engineers from now on, will be notifying customers of their progress and when they expect to call, instead of keeping customers house bound for 5 hours at a time. It took a few complaints, but hats off to Spy Alarms you listened and you acted………and you’ve kept your prices and fees competitive. Well Done ALL.

Pleased With Professional Service
It was easy to get a quote for the change that I required. The colleague in the office was very helpful and professional in helping me understand the upgrade and scheduling it in to coincide with a maintenance visit.
The engineer who attended was warm, polite and professional. At all times he kept me abreast of progress and when necessary talked me through my options. I welcomed this type of interaction and am pleased with the service received and would happily recommend to others.

Poor value for money
This company bought out DSC. We had used DSC previously and new them to be fair and trustworthy. The DSC website still looks the same yet Spy Alarms run the company completely differently. The service engineers carry no spares. Charged me a call out fee, plus 2 hours for a visit just to diagnose the problem. Then wanted to charge for another 2 hour visit to complete the work, by which time I decided to cut my losses. I found the DSC website to be disingenuous as no reference to the Spy Alarms’ takeover and seem to be more interested in profiteering than offering good customer service. I have since found a company who didn’t charge to for the initial visit, the quotation was broken down, gave full product details and was far more professional.
