Paid $61 for a Laos eVisa that was completely useless — approved the day after my arrival with no notification. No refund.
I applied for a Laos tourism eVisa through SimpleVisa.com in early February 2026, clearly stating in my application that I would arrive in Laos on February 12, 2026.
The application was created on February 5, but remained in “draft/started” status because the passport photo I uploaded did not meet their requirements. They requested a new photo on February 6, but the application was never completed or submitted by their system. It stayed incomplete until I contacted support on February 11. Only then did their team assist in finishing and submitting it, the day before my arrival.
The visa was allegedly approved and made available in my account on February 13, the day after I arrived in Laos. This made the entire eVisa service worthless. I had no choice but to get a Visa on Arrival at the border.
To make matters worse:
• I never received any email notification that the visa had been approved (or even submitted).
• They later asked me for my country of birth, even though it was clearly listed in the passport copy I had already uploaded.
When I requested a refund of the $61 service fee, explaining that the visa could not be used as intended due to the timing and lack of notification, their support apologized for the inconvenience but refused the refund. They claimed the service was “completed” because the government eventually issued the visa, and suggested I may have simply “missed” it (although I have no emails from them as noted above until I engaged with them).
This is poor customer service. I paid for a reliable, timely eVisa service that would match my stated travel dates. Instead, their platform left the application in draft for days, submitted it too late, provided no usable document by my arrival date, and sent no approval notice. Then they refused to refund the fee.
Travelers needing a visa for specific arrival dates should be very cautious with SimpleVisa.com. In my case, the service failed to deliver any practical value, yet they kept the full payment.
I would strongly not recommend this company.
Update: they replied to this complaint on this site, but still have not refunded any money. Do not waste any money on this organization..
