Order was fulfilled 2 months after being placed.
Placed an order with Shropshire Design for a Lynton Armchair back on 27th August. It was the most competitive price on the internet. I begin to wish I hadn't bothered. I had a two seater sofa in the same design and was expecting the chair to be delivered in a few weeks. It was delivered on 25th October. After chasing up on several occasions I was advised it would be next week then in the next few weeks. The underlying issue was with their supplier Garden Trading. I also was advised by Jacob a few weeks ago that Directors of Shropshire Design were personally overseeing all Garden trading orders whilst he was on leave, so I tried to call and spent 25 mins waiting for someone to answer my call to get an update.
I got the impression that Shropshire Design didn't want to fulfil the order as they had mis priced the chair initially. I was asked if I wanted to cancel which would have saved them fulfilling a loss making sale
The whole experience was very poor from start to finish.
After being personally contacted by the Founder of Shropshire Design, Peter Snowdon I have concluded that the challenges with delivery were outside of Shropshire Designs control and were down to Garden Trading not fulfilling the orders.
Since my review I can see that Shropshire Design is a company that want to do the right things and I would be more than happy to deal with again and very much appreciate the personal response from Peter.
I also wanted to recognise this in my overall rating.

Thank you for sharing your feedback, though I’m genuinely disappointed to read that you felt we were reluctant to fulfil your order.
Unfortunately, we experienced severe and unexpected supply issues with Garden Trading, which affected several customers and caused repeated delays to delivery dates. Our offer to cancel and refund your order was made simply to give you the option not to wait any longer – it was absolutely not because of any pricing concern.
I’m pleased that even with the delay, your order was fulfilled at the best price available, which I can see was excellent value and many pounds under the price of our competitors.
That said, I completely understand your frustration at how long the order took to arrive and at the difficulty reaching us by phone on one occasion. We did respond promptly to your emails, but I appreciate that this doesn’t make up for the overall inconvenience caused.
As the founder of Shropshire Design, I take all feedback seriously and am sincerely sorry that your experience fell short of the service standards we strive to uphold. Owing to the repeated problems we’ve had with Garden Trading’s fulfilment, we’ve made the decision to withdraw their products from our website so that this situation cannot occur again.

What a fabulous find! I have been obsessing about Polspotten since I saw their store in Amsterdam so I was so pleased to have found the brand on Shropshire Designs, which I had not come across before. I love the range but also the customer service I have had whenever I buy gifts from here. I have had one item arrive broken but Shropshire sent me a replacement within a couple of days witn no fuss. Polspotten and Shropshire - a match made in heaven!

Completely incompetent customer service. Do not order from this company.
We have been waiting for 4 x bar stools since August. After chasing non- stop for an update and being told constantly it will be next week it will be the week after for 2 months, this morning we received a new update addressed to a Geoff?! No one in our household goes by this name and we were then told ‘I am so sorry, it seems that I mixed up your name with another customer that I was emailing.’ We were told last week the chairs would finally arrive at the warehouse on the 10th Oct.. of course no one has reached out to us and to then receive the above addressed to the completely wrong customer (raising GDPR concerns) plus the follower ‘I will be back in touch regarding an update’ is beyond a joke at this point.
If I could give zero stars I would do so.

It’s upsetting to read this because it reflects a level of service that falls far short of our standards – and it’s not representative of who we are or what we stand for. Having looked into the situation, it’s clear that a combination of miscommunication between ourselves and our supplier, Garden Trading, led to unacceptable delays and inaccurate updates. You should never have had to chase us for information, and I completely understand why you’ve been left disappointed and frustrated.
You ordered four Garden Trading Longworth Bar Stools with Back – Natural on 27 August, and we initially advised a 7–14 day delivery window. Unfortunately, as stock delays arose, we passed on supplier information that later proved to be incorrect. To make matters worse, an email to you was mistakenly addressed to “Geoff” – although our customer care lead immediately followed up to correct the error. I want to assure you this was an honest mistake and that no personal details were shared, but I fully recognise it undermined your confidence in us.
Here’s what we’re doing to put things right:
– Your order has been marked for priority handling once stock becomes available.
– If you prefer not to wait, we’ll issue a full refund immediately.
I’ll now personally oversee your case to ensure it’s resolved properly, and I’ll arrange a goodwill gesture to apologise for the inconvenience you’ve experienced. As the founder, it genuinely pains me to know we’ve fallen short, and I’m determined to make this right for you.

Extremely strict returns policy
I purchased a number of lights from SD for my new home and wanted to return a couple as they didn't quite fit. However the short 14 day return window had passed and there was no flexibility whatsoever offered from the company despite the request being made within 28 days. It is such a shame as I have a lot of items I still need to purchase for my house but will not purchase from them in case of wasting further money.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m sorry you feel our returns window is strict. I’ve reviewed your order and can see you purchased three wall-lamp designs and wished to return two. Your request reached us around 28 days after delivery – roughly a fortnight beyond our 14-day returns request period.
We do try to be flexible – where a return request is made within 14 days of delivery, we work with customers to process it promptly. However, we sadly can’t accept change-of-mind returns once the window has closed, particularly for electrical items that have been out of our care for an extended period, as they need to be retested and often repackaged before they can be resold as ex-display or open-box items. For this reason we believe 14 days is a reasonable period to check an item at home and decide whether it suits.
Our 14-day return-request window is also in line with major, high-end retailers, including Selfridges, Heal’s and Harrods, as well as many smaller retailers that, like us, offer competitive pricing.
We aim to make the policy clear so customers can order with confidence. It is set out on our Delivery & Returns page and referenced in our order-confirmation and dispatch emails. Applying the same policy consistently helps us to be fair to everyone.
I’m genuinely sorry we weren’t able to accept a return almost a month after delivery, and I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

I ordered two large reed diffusers from this company on Tuesday morning & they were delivered on Wednesday afternoon what incredible service.

The employee I dealt with at Shropshire Design (Peter) was very friendly and helpful. The delivery company ProoviaCour where very accommodating when I requested for the table to be delivered on a specific day. The two young guys who delivered our table were very professional and likeable.

Other suppliers at same price are so much better - avoid.
We are furnishing our new house and purchased a dining table from Shropshire Design as the table looked great and the company has good reviews.
We spent over £2k on it and immediately realised that the table scratches far, far too easily. We raised the issue straight away and the company said there is nothing wrong with the table we are at fault. We have purchased a lot of wooden items from a variety of high-end suppliers (e.g Soho Home, RH, Heals etc) and had no such issues at all. We sent photos of how easily the table scratches and were still told they had done an assessment (I’m not sure how they could have done this) and that it was definitely our fault. After that they stopped replying to communication about the issue at all.
We got a wood flooring specialist to come and see if he could treat the table to protect it, he was amazed at how easily it scratched and how much it cost.
They also have a policy of not accepting returns if the item is not sent back in it's original packaging. We couldn't do this as the delivery firm they use left it on our front drive in the rain as it wouldn't fit through the door in the packaging. Therefore, one box had to be thrown away due to the cardboard being damaged in the rain.
We really wished we had gone with the other tables we looked at through RH or Soho Home as their delivery, craftsmanship and customer service is another level.
Shropshire Design are ok for smaller more inexpensive items but seriously reconsider if you're wanting to spend larger amounts with them.
**After seeing the responses from Shropshire Design I am adding to my original review. - My last two emails went entirely unanswered. My final email read ‘Hello, I'll assume if I don't get a response in the next 2 business days to my reasonable complaint that Shropshire Design is refusing to engage in any further discussion to resolve the issue. Kind regards’
No offer for touch up paint has been received, and this would not have been appropriate in any case. Perhaps their last two replies are mistakenly still in their draft email box or sent to a different customer? My interior designer has no replies from the relevant emails. If SD want to forward me the sent emails, I’ll happily edit my review.
I have no issue with the wood but rather the quality or amount of stain/ lacquer. I have had a wood specialist view the table and they feel it wears far too easily.
Placemats and coasters do not stop gentle inadvertent rubbing of cutlery, and the scratches have been made by me, my wife and not just my daughter. We were all being very careful with the table.
I do appreciate that Shropshire Design have taken the time to respond to this communication and I hope they genuinely use it as a learning experience to help them improve in the future.

We’re truly sorry to hear that you’ve been left disappointed – especially after choosing a piece as important as a dining table for your new home. While your feedback is difficult for us to receive, it gives us the chance to clarify some points and to reassure future customers about the standards we set for both our furniture and our service.
The Trella Dining Table is crafted from Mindi wood, a medium-hard wood known for its smooth grain and strength. It is not an unusually soft material and has been chosen precisely because it balances durability with a refined, elegant finish. Like all natural wood, however, it is not scratch-proof. Even high-end wooden furniture from well-known retailers will show signs of use over time – this is part of the character of real timber.
When you contacted us, our team responded promptly, asked you to complete a returns form so that we could log the issue properly, and carefully reviewed the photos you shared. We also discussed these with the table’s manufacturer in the Netherlands, which sometimes meant there was a short delay in replying. Based on this review, there was no indication of a fault with the product itself. For this reason, a return could not be authorised as a faulty item. That said, we did offer to send a complimentary touch-up kit to help reduce the appearance of marks, and that offer remains open.
We’d also like to clarify our returns policy. We never decline returns for faulty items simply because packaging has been discarded. The request to retain packaging applies only when an item is returned for non-fault reasons, as this ensures safe collection and protects both the couriers and the product.
It’s also important to correct one point in your review. From our records, every email you and your interior designer sent to us was responded to (I've sent details this evening). We never allow customer emails to go unanswered, and we take pride in maintaining clear and timely communication throughout.
I can see that some of our replies went to your interior designer directly depending on the thread we were replying to, including a reply to your last email to us, so may not have been forwarded by them to you - our apologies that you were left feeling that we hadn't replied.
You also mentioned to us that some marks were caused when your child used cutlery directly on the tabletop. This can happen with any smooth, stained wood finish, which is why we always recommend the use of placemats and coasters. These protective measures help keep the surface looking its best.
We completely understand how frustrating it must have been to feel that the table wasn’t right for your home. Please be assured that we take all feedback seriously, and we remain committed to offering high-quality pieces alongside attentive customer care.

Classy store
I had spent ages looking for a replacement chair after a 57 year old Parker Knoll Statesman chair was finally consigned to pastures new. The choice at Shropshire Designs was so extensive in type of design and material it was relatively easy to fulfil our requirements and the Pascal leather chair with " runners" rather than legs has proved to be elegant yet modern and comfortable replacement.
The service has been exemplary from the first enquiry to delivery . Delivery was prompt with the chair wrapped and boxed. Excellent company to deal with, in all respects.

I was delighted to source my favourite home fragrance at Shropshire Design but then found that their courier didn’t deliver to Northern Ireland, disappointing. However I received an email from Shropshire Design to say they were investigating another delivery method. After exchanging emails Just five days later I had my favourite fragrance (citrus verbena) in my home! So happy!

Slow and unreliable delivery.
First order: Had to chase on status after it was accepted and payment taken. Found out that the product was now no longer available.
Second order: Found a similar product. This took over two months and multiple chasers to get delivered. Then only half the order turned up despite being advised that the complete order would be delivered.
Now waiting for another shipment to arrive at Shropshire Design and for this to be delivered to us, meanwhile they have had our payment for over 2 months.
Thankfully, at least they are responsive on email, otherwise I would have suspected this was yet another fraudulent online furniture company.
Very disappointed.

I have to be honest – we have had difficulties with the supplier of the niche brand of the items you purchased. They are tremendous items, but the ‘made to order’ process the brand has put in place means we are seeing a gap between the timescales customers are expecting and the reality of the time these items take to come through from Europe. I need to improve that.
