They charged me 11.99 for a seven days subscription, which is all I signed up for. However, they added a monthly subscription for 29.99 without letting me know it would be automatically charged. I did not cancel in time, and they said they cannot issue a refund. Please stay away, and always check an app's rating before signing up. I've now learned from my mistake.

WMy 16 year old put in roommate request without my knowledge. I found multiple and excessive charges on my credit card and cannot get a phone number to get a refund. SCAM is what I see. This all happened in at nine day. With $80+ worth of charges.

Complete fraud scam, they want you to pay to see the messages, do not join.

BEWARE of this scam. The company does not let you view messages without at least 11.99 for seven days subscription. If you subscribe for 11.99 and use PayPal it charges you and then adds a subscription for 29.99 to be debited a week later. Had I not looked at the transaction , I would not have caught it. I don’t know how this would work with a credit card, but probably the same. Be careful with this company. Stay away, there are better resources out there.

I will delete my account. I have yet to find a client renter who came from roomster . Most of their profiles are fake. I pay the weekly but it doesn't lead anywhere. They never talk out of the app. I have not met one in person.

Used to be free to use, now costs $30/month for the essential feature of messaging. Very few real people on it. Waste of time trying to use this anymore.

I created a listing for a property i was looking to lease out and all this app did was steal my money. After 189 people not one person responded back to me and that’s pretty strange 189 people need a place to stay but didn’t respond back to my ad mind you the place is beautiful and adorable! This app is a scam and a joke complete money pit don’t waste your time nor money.

This app is truly awful. You have to pay to see your messages, which in my case was ninety copies of my own advert, but under everyone else’s name. People message you, but you can’t see their adverts, (if you are lucky enough to manage to open them in the first place.) Requested a refund by can’t even open the support link to follow it up. Do yourself a favour and use spare room instead. This is a total scam of an app.

they said suspicious activity and lock my log in. I sent and received more than 70 messages trying to fix it. they wanted front id, then asked for back id. It went on for hours. They also have hidden fees. you can't see recent new applicants unless you pay. You have to wait 7+ days to respond to mail you receive asking about your ad. Ads are not well filtered.

Terrible place. Joined for 7 day trial and was charged $29 without being aware they would do that. Customer service is a joke and the most important is all I got was scammers. Don't use this sight!

Couldn't even use it.

Put in the correct phone number and had full signal. Never received a single verification code to log in, no other way to log in.

Tried sending customer service a message and it wouldn't let me press the send button.

If this is what it's like to even try and make an account I dread to think what the app is like if you do manage to perform a miracle and log in.

Avoid.

Roomster charged me even though they have no presence in my area. They have no coverage what so ever. I was duped into getting charged a second time when I thought I was just paying for a week.

Don’t waste your time or money on this app.

I used Roomster for two months, and if it weren’t for the fact that they already charged me for the second month, I would have never renewed. This app is a complete scam.

Most of the messages are fake and clearly generated by the system to make it look like the app is active and popular. The moment my subscription was about to end, I suddenly started receiving 7–10 messages at a time — all scams. That alone tells you everything you need to know.

On top of that, the app barely works. Every time I tried to reply, I kept getting error messages. Sometimes the sender’s name would literally show as “Null.” You pay for a service that doesn’t function, and customer support is nonexistent.

Roomster is trash. Misleading, buggy, and not worth a single dollar. Save yourself the frustration and stay far away.

I used Roomster to advertise a room for rent.
The site does not have option to list move in date , length of lease or who you looking for . You can not filter people looking for room for anything else that budget for rent .
Because of this lack of filters you get flooded with messages from renters who do not fit your requirements .
Some messages are obviously bots !

If you find a good match it is not because of the website but in spite of it .
There are better sites out there

Total useless site, first it was free, but then they changed it and if one wants to read messages, has to upgrade.

When I changed my number I could not login any longer, so I needed to redo to register my account with the new number.

But they ended up still charging me for my previouse profile, without my permission, I didn't even get a request for an upgrade or anything, just email that there is an open message, when I clicked on it, I could not read it, but it showed me the options to upgrade.

I ended up not upgrading and deleting the profile, yet they charged my debit card on 1 November 2025. Total scam, I requested a refund and might take legal action against them, never use them again for sure!!!!

Ik maakte een advertentie aan zonder subscription. Men vroeg een weekabonnement om toegang te krijgen tot berichten. Ik volgde hun instructies, betaalde $12, maar dat was weggesmeten geld: geen resultaat, geen verhuur, niks.

Wat ik niet wist, is dat ze ook geld aftroggelden voor een advertentie die online stond. Zo hebben ze op 5 oktober en opnieuw op 30 oktober zonder mijn toestemming meer dan $35 afgenomen, iets wat ik toevallig ontdekte.

Dit is een echte scam. Wil je met een betrouwbaar platform werken, gebruik dan Airbnb. Zij zijn eerlijk, transparant en bieden uitstekende dienstverlening. Ik werk al 10 jaar probleemloos met hen.

Horrible. Charges you to use it when you don't get ANYTHING. No customer service by phone.

By any measure, the worst site I've ever used to advertise my rental. One inquiry requires you to pay to read, and any others for seven days. Every, single phquing time, the person doesn't respond EVER and there are no other inquiries during the 7 days. OH!! And my rental NEVER appears on their apartment and roommate map even after several demands to their fake call center reps who don't seem to know which web site client you are referring to. Take a GOOD LOOK at Roomster.com 2022 FTC and California lawsuits to see for yourself how really bad this site is.
