Signature Low Footboard Profiling Bed: Excellent Guidance And Support From Opera Throughout
I am writing this long review to perhaps help others who may be as daunted as I was faced with the task of sourcing a hospital bed for my husband.
I knew I needed the solid adaptability of a hospital bed for his personal and lower body care but after 50 years of marriage didn't want a bedroom looking like Emergency Ward 9 ¾. The hospital staff and our lovely home carers recommended Opera Beds – and I'm relieved to say they were not wrong.
From the outset, I had full confidence in Michelle not only because of her knowledge but also her unmistakable caring manner. She listened with total patience perceiving my upset when describing my husband's increasing needs and how difficult I found the entire task. Several times she took me through all the bed and mattress options and at no time did I feel under any pressure to make a final decision. Gradually this Signature bed with a memory mattress became the outstanding choice. The oyster premium finish was my husband's quality decision.
Delivery was quick even not using Opera's express service. Bright and early I was given a delivery time. I observed Dwaine and Lukasz taking great care parking their Opera van in our drive and checking everything before ringing the bell. They introduced themselves cheerfully and unprompted donned foot coverings before being showed to our bedroom. They worked quickly and quietly whilst answering all my queries. I was delighted when Lukasz explained he didn't need to attach the headboard thereby making the bed look almost a twin to mine. They offered to take the headboard away but I decided to keep it. Dwaine wrapped it securely and volunteered to lift it to our garage. Additionally Lukasz pointed out that the grab rail I had ordered could not be removed as easily as I thought. However I was reassured not to worry and was given the office contact name of Jordan with whom I could discuss the matter further. Whilst Dwaine packed up and tidied everywhere, Lukasz demonstrated how the bed functioned. This Opera team were comfortable to have in our home and made the whole experience as easy as breathing. Later when I contacted Jordan about the grab rail, he could not have been more polite or understanding of my quandary. After exploring all the options, he was happy to offer a full refund for the rail. It was refreshing to have the issue handled so quickly and agreeably. The refund for the rail arrived within days.
I am really pleased with the entire outcome. A genuine relief to me. My husband is sleeping better on the memory mattress. The bed is hassle free to clean and vacuum underneath and generally is making life so much easier for myself and our carers. It fits into our bedroom beautifully and yet is virtually future proof against my husband's likely additional care and equipment needs at home. What not to like?

Hello Kath & Duncan,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and heartfelt review. We’re genuinely grateful, and a little humbled, to read about your experience.
Choosing the right bed in such emotional and challenging circumstances is never easy, and we’re really pleased that Opera Beds was recommended to you and that we were able to meet – and hopefully exceed – your expectations. It means a great deal to know that Michelle’s patience, empathy and knowledge helped give you confidence and reassurance at what was clearly a difficult time. Your description of the Signature bed and Oyster premium finish perfectly captures what we aim to achieve: clinical functionality without compromising on the feel of a bedroom that’s still very much a home.
We’re equally delighted to hear your delivery experience was such a positive one. Dwaine and Lukasz will be especially touched by your kind words about their care, professionalism and consideration in your home. These are exactly the standards we expect from our installation teams, and it’s wonderful to see them recognised so clearly.
Thank you as well for mentioning your later contact with myself it has been a pleasure being able to help you. We’re pleased the grab rail query was resolved quickly and to your satisfaction, handling concerns promptly and fairly is something we take very seriously.
Most importantly, we’re so glad to hear that your husband is sleeping better and that the bed is already making daily life easier for you and your carers. Knowing that the bed fits beautifully into your bedroom while also being ready for future care needs is exactly the outcome we strive for.
Thank you again for such a generous and detailed review. We wish you and your husband all the very best, and please don’t hesitate to contact us if we can ever be of further help.
Kind regards,
Jordan

Lovely showroom and very friendly team
Lovely showroom and very friendly team. We felt a bit pressured timewise when we visited, partly our fault on the first visit as we were caught in exceptionally heavy traffic which made us late for our appointment. Having since seen another range of adjustable beds I feel the beds could be made a little more attractive and have a wider range of headboard fabric choices. The very sharp corners on our bed base are not good for elderly users with frail skin. The delivery experience was reasonable. They were friendly guys but refused to park on our drive for some reason despite there being plenty of space. This meant they dragged very heavy boxes across the pavement and right across our big drive, then up our pale-coloured stair carpet - not appreciated - and my comments about this were ignored. Our Karndean in the hall also picked up a scuff which has only partly come out. The bed seems pretty good but thank heaven we chose a soft mattress despite being unable to try it. Soft is not represented in the showroom for some reason and only available to special order, so it felt like a risky thing to do. I was told it was only very slightly softer spring tension than the medium and that certainly seems to us to be the case. If anything the medium in the showroom felt softer. Obviously it will soften over time but it is so firm I've had to order mattress toppers to mitigate this as I was getting pins and needles in my arms and upper back each morning. The underbed drawers don't always want to go back in straight and the flaps of material for handles are a bit amateurish and messy. I would also have greatly preferred that the bed sides did not go right down to the floor. Generally fairly satisfied though.

Hello Caroline,
Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review. We’re really pleased to hear that you found the showroom welcoming and the team friendly, and that you’re generally satisfied with your bed.
We’re sorry, however, that parts of your experience didn’t meet expectations. We completely understand how feeling rushed during your visit could impact the decision-making process, and we appreciate your honesty around this. Your feedback on the styling of our beds, headboard fabric choices, and design elements such as the base corners and bed sides is very valuable and will be shared with our product team.
We’re also sorry to hear about the delivery experience. While we’re glad the team were friendly, your comments regarding access, handling of the boxes, and the resulting marks to your flooring and carpet are concerning. This is not the level of care we aim to provide, and we’ll be addressing this internally to ensure improvements are made.
In terms of the mattress, we understand how important comfort is and how difficult it can be when trying to choose the right tension, especially when certain options aren’t available to try in the showroom. It’s helpful to hear your feedback on the firmness and how it compares to expectations, and we’re sorry to hear it has caused discomfort. If you haven’t already, please do reach out to us directly as we’d be happy to see what support we can offer.
We also appreciate your comments regarding the drawers and finishing details, as well as your preference on the bed design. Feedback like this helps us continue to improve both our products and overall customer experience.
Thank you again for your balanced and constructive review and we are here for you if you need anything moving forward.
Kind regards,
Jordan
