Pretty bad to be honest.

Pretty bad to be honest.
They over charged me for settling my loan early by 7 months.
Two months interest i was charged on a 12 month loan which is illegal to do. They can only charge you two months interest if your loan is over more than 12 months which mine isn't. They never also factored in my extra £20 I paid either. So roughly i am out of pocket by quite a bit. I won't be using these again.

PENALISED FOR PAYING EARLY. A COMPANY TO AVOID.

I applied for a loan a couple of weeks ago and was accepted, but I received no confirmation email and no e-document to sign — I didn’t even realise the money had been sent until I noticed it had gone into one of my bank accounts a few days later.

I decided to pay it back because I was still within the 14‑day cooling‑off period. Even so, they charged me £62 in interest, which I paid — but I don’t see why I should have had to, when I cancelled and repaid within the cooling‑off window. I simply didn’t need the full amount I’d borrowed.

A couple of days later, I went back to apply for a smaller loan — and was declined straight away with no real explanation. My credit score has actually gone up, and nothing at all had changed in my circumstances in those few days. I can only assume I was rejected because I paid the first loan back early — and that’s exactly the problem.

I’ve always paid my loans off early when I’ve had extra money, and every other lender I’ve used has appreciated it — they see it as responsible and will happily lend to you again. Not Oakwood Advance. It feels like they don’t want your business unless they can squeeze every last penny of interest out of you. Their rates are already high enough without penalising people who manage their money well.

I feel they’re not a genuine, fair company. I’m closing my account completely and I’ll never apply with them again. If you pay early, they turn you away — so you’re better off elsewhere. There are plenty of better alternative lenders who actually value reliable customers. One to avoid.
