Rachel is absolutely lovely

SMS Notifications and Teacher Levels

Before anything else, the majority of the time I've been very satisfied as a tutor with how MusicTeachers is run, and the good points far outweigh the bad.

However, I'm disappointed that I rarely receive texts from the company when a new prospective client messages. We're promised this notification every time a new pupil messages, and if I don't get the notification, I'm unable to respond to messages as quickly as I'd like. Only about 1 time out of 5 do I get a text alert when I receive a message from a new pupil.

Also, I noticed that there was no pay increase when I moved to 'Gold' level. I saw in the explanation notes that instead the pupil fee decreases. This seems unfair to me, and MusicTeachers suggest I instead put my prices up. I increased my prices unilaterally a few months earlier, and I can't do it again. As far as I can see, there's no reward at all for the tutor when they move up a level, and unless I've got something wrong, this takes away any incentive for moving to the new level.

Hi Peter - thanks as always for your feedback on the platform - really appreciated.

On SMS notifications, we’ve checked delivery on our side and can see that messages are being 'sent', but in some cases mobile networks are filtering them before they reach your phone. This is something we’re seeing more widely as spam controls have tightened. We’re actively testing ways to improve reliability, as we know how valuable SMS notifications are. One recommendation; take a look at enabling push notifications from within your email client for MusicTeachers - some teachers have been able to replicate the 'ping' in this way.

On membership levels, what remains unchanged is our commitment to rewarding teachers for their success on the platform — and congratulations on reaching Gold level.

Platform fee reductions apply automatically to groups, lesson offers and trial lessons. For lesson blocks, teachers can increase their fees by 1.5%, which allows your income to increase without raising prices for students.
