As a first-time customer
As a first-time customer, I was genuinely excited to try Montagne Parfums after hearing positive things online. Unfortunately, my experience left me extremely disappointed—not just with the fragrance, but with the company's customer service.
The fragrance I received was not defective, and I never claimed it was. I simply felt that it did not meet my expectations in terms of scent, performance, and overall value. Understanding that fragrances are subjective, I reached out respectfully and requested a goodwill partial refund. I was not asking for a full refund.
Instead of making any effort to keep a first-time customer happy, the company refused to offer any compromise whatsoever. The only thing they offered was a 20% discount on a future purchase, which would require me to spend even more money with a company after I had already expressed my disappointment.
When I explained that I wasn't interested in spending more money and was simply asking for a reasonable goodwill gesture, they stood by their decision and made it clear they would not budge.
Every company has the right to enforce its policies, but great customer service is about more than simply quoting a policy. Sometimes it's about showing flexibility and valuing customer satisfaction, especially for someone placing their first order. In my case, I felt there was no attempt to meet me halfway or create goodwill.
If you're considering buying from Montagne Parfums, understand that if the fragrance simply doesn't work for you—even if you approach them politely and ask for a reasonable compromise—you may receive no accommodation beyond a coupon for another purchase.
Unfortunately, my first experience with this company will also be my last.
