We had buildings and contents insurance with Mark & Spencer. They insured us, knowing it was a period house. Part of our ceiling unexpectedly came down, through no fault of ours. Response: No we can't help you refer to the small print on page xx. Ok, what about the damage it's done to the sofa, chair and wall. Response: No it's not covered for accidental damage. Our response, this wasn't an accident!

What on earth is home contents for if not for things like this! We have never claimed before, and this is how an honest claim gets treated.

An unusually poor show from M&S, a brand we used to trust and reply on.

I decided to grab some lunch at the King's Lynn store in their cafe. I ordered my food and a cup of tea. No saucer because it saves on the washing up! Riculous. Then I had to ask for a damp cloth as the table was sticky, only to be handed a couple of serviettes; not what I asked for. M&S your standards are slipping. I do not expect to have to clean my own table to he able to eat.

Clothing poor quality, probably made in a sweatshop, I had to rip the zip off a fleece as getting caught on the material around it.

i bought the wrong size shirts, i went to the Kings Lynn branch to swap them.
1. it was a Christmas present , return allowed until end of January.
2. unopened,
3. with receipt .
4. all intact. NO damage at all.
I'd taken off the price to wrap the gift and with it unwittingly the small barcode.
The store manager said without the bar code i could not return the item, i asked if they could just scan the barcode off one in store, ''no'', i was stuck with the wrong size ,£45 lost, i said i had the reciept and the goods are unopened, ''no'' store policy said the manager.
3 white poplin shirts size 15 1/2 instead of 16 1/2.
Returning home i contacted Customer service.
Nteta , Customer service replied ,''I can advise that you can return items, so long as the product packaging has not been damaged. If the item is not packaged, you can still return it, so long as the tags and hanger are still intact.''

''no'' said KingsLynn manager.

if it was not in the packaging but on the hanger i would not have that bar code would i? so why wouldn't KINGS LYNN store manager accept the item?

I had to return home dispondant , fortunately i keep all reciepts, i found i'd stuck this price on another reciept and returned to the store again, i went to a different counter and was done in 30 seconds with the return complete ,the cost to me is £10 in petrol, two parking charges and upset, i didn't buy the shirts i wanted because i just wanted to get out of the store .
It is all well and good Martin Lewis and other consumer people advising us but the reality is you can't do anything to help yourself when the store manager is more concerned with her margins than observing the law or as it turns out M&S policy.
Her mistake cost me time and money, i really don't know what else i could have done , it appears she didn't even follow her own store consumer guide if Nteta is to be believed.

Inept delivery system, dismissive and uncaring customer services phoneline.
Ordered wife's christmas present 10 days before christmas.
Order never turned up or any contact from Couriers, other than a Viber message to say it was at local post office, The local post office advised it was at a depot 65Kms away, also on mainland.
Rang the CS line to complain on 29th and find out where the present was, and how they were going to make it up to her, and was treated with indifference, disdain and after asking how they were going to rectify their screwed up order, I was hung up on.
I was advised they were unable to advise the results of any discussion with courier, "we cant email customers", and unable to advise any outcome of when they would contact and attempt to actually deliver and complete the order.
If you don't mind untrustworthy online suppliers, with absolutely terrible customer support, then order from the Greek M&S.
personally, I would rather try my luck with ebay than put up with this abject failure.

Goose fat roast potatoes bought for Christmas dinner were disgusting out of four packs only one pack was edible - they went a very strange grey/black colour when cooked and tasted awful - bought last year and they were really nice so didn't expect this at all certainly not from M and S who according to a recent TV programme would have you believe they spend so much time and effort getting things right - definitely didn't work this time something has gone badly wrong and it seems judging by other reviews we weren't the only people who had an issue with this product - how Marks and Spencer deal with this will make a difference to how and where I shop next year - please dont brush it under the carpet find out what happened and be open and honest about it

I have for many years ordered my Christmas food through M&S particularly the turkey, however, this year as there was just going to be two of us for Christmas Day lunch I only ordered a turkey breast, well I am not 100% sure what the meat was when I started to prepare it for lunch. It was in a sealed bag floating in some sort of liquid and what looked like lumps of fat. The turkey, if that was what it was, was a solid shrivelled lump and a slightly off colour. When cleaned and cooked it looked no better, we did have it for lunch but only a few slices, it had no taste whatsoever. It has ended up in the bin, it will be a long time before I consider another Christmas order.

My mum is 80 and although sharp in many ways struggles with mobility.
I dropped her to do some Christmas Shopping at M&S in Aberdeen city centre last week - 20th Dec - and went to park and then meet her in an hour or so.
She was able to get everything she wanted with some great service from the team in the ladies departments. Special mention has to go to Shona in Lingerie who was so helpful. She packed everything for my mum and then took her bag up to her in the coffee shop where she headed for a refresher. Friendly, bubbly and very helpful. Running my own business with over 30 of a retail team she was excellent and a credit to the company.

We decided to purchase the boxed turkey with all the trimmings.
It was superb

Hardworking, cheerful group of staff endeavouring to keep the shelves replenished and answer the constant stream of questions from customers. Hope you all get a well earned break over Christmas. Sorry you lost a star for checkout assistant who should keep her opinions to herself about people shopping close to Christmas, I didn’t have a choice and it’s none of her business when people choose to do their foodshop. After picking my Christmas food order, up-today from Marks & Spencer‘s Metrocentre Gateshead, one of the packages contents inside the box were damaged containing shellfish. Obviously it can’t be consumed because I don’t know how long the package was damaged for .
I phoned up to complain and was offered a £5 e-voucher.
The goods cost £75 Tomahawk steak , surf & turf dated the 26/12 /2023 . Absolutely appalling Customer Service I have requested a manager to call me back.

Turkey bought in line £80. After a 2hr round trip, due to Christmas shoppers m, got home to find It was frozen.
Rang customer service that was in Cape Town! Useless girl, Glynneshia told me they are all part cooked and frozen. I said mine was raw. But frozen. She said if I ‘look at the ingredients it’ll tell me it’s frozen’. I said it says ‘turkey’, in the ingredients!!
She said try the description, so I did and it said ‘suitable for home freezing’. She confidently told me that if it says that it means it’s frozen. I said I have a fridge full of food that most say ‘suitable for home freezing’ but I BUY THEM FRESH AND FREEZE THEM IF I WANT TO. She wouldn’t have it. She kept putting me in hold, the call took nearly half an hour, so if I was in the phone to Cape Town for 30mins, I’ll be bankrupt.
We decided to ring head office a 0207 number. ITS IN CAPETOWN!! So we decided to ring our branch, 4 miles away with our local code. SOMEONE IN CAPETOWN ANSWERED!
What on EARTH has happened to M&S?
I will NEVER buy from them again.
I’d imagine on the rare chance someone contacts me, they’ll be from Cape Town.

I don't live in ABZ - I am just visiting , but this issue is the same in the NW of England.
I have written to your Staff on-line about this before and got the usual middle of the road meaningless reply.

Today in Aberdeen at the Check Out there were no plastic bags. I usually take my own any Supermarket Bag for Life , but I forgot this morning.

My issue was and still is : 40 Pence for a Paper Bag.
Don't reply with that rubbish that's its more than a paper bag as per your Staff parroting " We are saving the Planet " garbage .

It's made of paper. It's a bag. It cost 40 pence.
So its a 40 pence paper bag.

This may well cost you dear in the long run as I will not shop with you again unless I have my own plastic Bag for Life from any Supermarket.

Dutifully opened my 12 days of Christmas , and was given a free percy pig train. I travelled to a store, (Hamilton),[ which is not near-by, and went to pick one up. However, there was none to be had. A member of staff said they had not had any since the 1st day. Spoke to a manager,( as my daughter had gone to another store for her free diffuser, again none available), and inquired as to why none where available. His go to phrase was subject to availability. Whilst that may be right, it was obvious that they had been well understocked and therefore, why have customers go to the bother of opening windows daily, when it was clear many, many customers would not be getting this offer. I think it is a poor show M& S, to entice customers to your stores, with no prospect of getting the free gifts. Certainly would not bother in future. Customer service is extremely poor.

Bury store! Been downgraded, hardly any stock! Staff not great, their knowledge of stock is very limited. I also see many members of staff smoke in the fire exit doors, does not look good. Does not even carry Autograph!!

Delivery not received. I ordered 23/11/23 and its now 14/12/23 and I still haven't received my delivery. M&S international tell me that they can't track my order and I have to contact the delivery company myself.
This is just not good enough. Why do M&S work with such a delivery company if they can't track customer's parcels?
Absolutely no customer service!

Food not good quality and staff rude

I recently spent a fair amount of money on a sofa bed which proved a huge let down.I put a review of the item on M&S web site which they refused to publish twice becouse did not meet their T&C,which in this case, was I criticised their knowledge and mentioned the country of origin of the goods. These people instead of making sure customers are happy, are paid to look at imbeciles issues instead.
Never mind the quality of what they sell. Used to be customer was always right, now instead they challenge you. M&S should go back to the origins,close it all and open a market stall to start all over again. Rude attitude,no warehouses anymore,cheap stuff made outside the UK using cheap labour, possibly exploiting under age people. Utterly disgusting.
