Marchon Benelux
Deccaweg, Amsterdam
I am writing this message anonymously. I have no desire for any further contact with Marchon Benelux or anyone associated with it.
Several years ago I was employed at your Deccaweg location for nearly five years. The working environment I experienced there was severely damaging. After leaving, I required professional therapy to recover from the sustained psychological harm caused by the conduct of certain employees and the complete failure of supervision to address it.
The primary perpetrators were three women: Valga Hovenbroeg, Lakisha, and Fatima. These individuals engaged in systematic fraternitation, mobbing, social exclusion, and public humiliation. They formed a clique that actively turned colleagues against anyone they decided was not “their cup of tea.” Typical behaviour included pointing, laughing, calling out my name, and making derogatory remarks when I walked past, often involving nearby colleagues so that the mockery was shared and amplified.
Valga, in particular, functioned as the central figure of this group. When new employees arrived she would promptly share negative comments about me, ensuring they kept their distance. The pattern was deliberate, repeated, and effective. I eventually responded by minimising all interaction, keeping my head down, and reducing conversation to the absolute bare minimum. That strategy only isolated me further and prolonged the damage.
I raised the situation with multiple supervisors. The consistent response was a dismissive “it is what it is with them,” followed by no meaningful action. Supervisors treated intervention as optional rather than a core responsibility. One supervisor, Merlien, was notably unhelpful and, in practice, worsened the situation by failing to curb the behaviour.
This was not an isolated personal conflict. Multiple colleagues described the atmosphere as toxic. I cried on the way to work on a regular basis. The decision not to renew my contract felt like a release.
I am sending this account years later solely so that the pattern is on record. Valga Hovenbroeg, Lakisha, Fatima, and the supervisory inaction that enabled them remain, in my view, a significant liability for the workplace culture at Marchon Benelux. People who do not fit their preferred circle are subjected to quiet, sustained social terror. That should not be allowed to continue unchecked.
I have no interest in follow-up, mediation, or any further involvement. I simply want the facts noted.
I wish you a fine day
