Title: Appalling Customer Service and Shocking System Errors
If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with Lending Stream today was absolutely disgusting, driven by both a faulty internal system and an incredibly belligerent customer service representative.
Late this morning, I added my TSB debit card to my account to make a manual payment of £173.84. Immediately after this processed, their system automatically and without authorisation withdrew an additional £73.90 from the exact same TSB card.
I requested a callback to resolve the issue and was connected to a male customer service agent. I explained the situation and offered to provide undeniable proof from my mobile banking app that both payments came from the TSB card. Instead of investigating, he repeatedly told me I was wrong and refused to listen. He insisted his screen showed the £73.90 was taken just after 7:00 a.m. from a Barclays card that was still on file.
This was completely impossible for two reasons: firstly, although the Barclays card was still on file, it had been lost and replaced, and my banking app showed no such payment was taken from it. Secondly, Lending Stream did not even have my TSB card details on file until I manually added them much later in the morning, meaning they couldn't possibly have billed it just after 7:00 a.m. I had the proof right in front of me, but the rep belligerently insisted that I was completely incorrect. When I tried to explain this, he even threatened to hang up on me, falsely accusing me of speaking over him.
To make matters worse, while they did eventually refund the £73.90, they completely botched that as well. Instead of returning the money to the TSB card they wrongfully took it from, they sent it to a Nationwide account I have on file.
The complete lack of professionalism, the refusal to look at objective proof, and the belligerent attitude of the staff member were unacceptable. I am reporting them to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Avoid this company if you value your peace of mind and want your bank details handled competently.
