JD Gyms - Sheffield North Arvostelua 

Loads of choice of different classes all included in membership, the women’s only section is a huge bonus of the gym as it’s so huge and can be quite intimidating. The only thing that would improve it is a bit more room for changing/ closed off cubicles to change in.

Join got shown around shown how to use certain machines to help me on my way , body areas I want to concentrate on , all staff are kind friendly so welcoming they are a credit to the gym .

PT with Melissa

Melissa is extremely knowledgeable and supportive. In the initial meeting, Melissa put together a programme ensuring that it was manageable but also an element of challenge. Communication is brilliant. I feel that I can contact Melissa at any time to help with anything I'm finding tricky. Melissa is able to put you at ease too ,she understands that gyms can be intimidating at times. Melissa's demonstrations are clear and concise. She is approachable, always happy to answer any questions or concerns.

After booking an initial consultation with Melissa we chatted about my past training experience and what I hoped to achieve she then drew up the perfect training plan to suit what I was looking for. Melissa is welcoming knowledgeable and puts you immediately at ease she also encourages to get the most out of her sessions through hard work

Everytime i walk into the gym i notice its very clean and organised (which is one big thing that alot of gyms lack in),
All the Staff are welcoming and ready to assist you straight away if needed,
Theres a very good mixture of equipment that covers everyones style of training.
The changing rooms are organised&clean which to me is always a big must!.
If your wanting 1on1's with P.Ts theres a good number to pick from they all come with good different personality,
Beth is one of the P.T's that work there and i can not say a word wrong about the girl always willing to help even when shes not on shift and training herself, people will recognise her and ask for help and she will go out of her way to make sure they are satisfied with their request.
Outstanding hard worker, amazing personality with a bubble happy nature to her, always smiling and just an awesome person to talk to if you need to rant about anything In Gym or Outside Life!

No machines are working in the women side. It’s ridiculous we have to wait for machines, we have limited time but are disappointed for services. No cleaning done, we have less equipment, no staff are willing to help I’ve complained various times but it’s been over 5 months machines are still NOT WORKING. We have less machines and now we have only 3 working. Both stair masters and treadmill not working. Showed not cleaned it’s appalling!

At this moment I consider this particular gym to be a sensory nightmare. Not due to the sounds you’d expect to hear at the gym, but due to pumping music, played so loud that I cannot hear my personal trainer or my gym partner.

Is turning up volume to the point where someone’s heart rate goes up without the need to exercise necessary?

And please do not reply to this review saying that you have checked the noise level and it's fine. I have seen posts from various people commenting on this issue, and it has not been resolved.

I rely on the classes provided but keep getting let down by the gym. I don’t have much free time and commute especially for these classes but often they’ve been cancelled, or like yesterday when I turned up, didn’t even exist, it was an error on the timetable. I struggled to find any staff to help me figure out if this class was on or not and had to go to front door and press the buzzer 3 times before someone came which too about 15minute later. He openly admitted he had no idea what classes were on and asked for help from his colleague who started off shouting through the office door explaining what class was on now before realising there was a mistake after I’d shown her. Felt a little passive in how it was dealt with and not very sincere, more like a shrug of the shoulders, sorry.
Frustrated with turning up and having no information or accessible staff to help or communicate any changes.

The range of kit is great and there is a lot of it. However, the treadmills are very old school and not in great shape. I wish there were more paper towels and cleaning sprays available, as there’s only one in the Sheffield North facility. There is a women’s only section though which has been kitted out with plenty of equipment, which is used well! Overall it’s a good facility, would recommend.

Equipment an facility's bang on. A lot of people's issues, including my own, is the legitimacy of the actual age of the so-called 16s. Really needs looking. Like a youth club, it's a place to train, not have gangs, round machines, barely doing anything. Apparently, on the jd site, it's a minimum of 16. Very questionable. 0 gym staff around to question the ages or even govern this. Seems very lazily run. Feels like the motto is as long as its packed they dont care.

The general manager was terrific and explained everything. It was a quick an efficient set up and we weren’t over sold which often happens

1st time back at the gym in over 6 years, and would reccomend this gym,

It s nice that the space is very big , there are lots of machines . The food channel , music . 3 hours free parking. Cheap fair for monthly fee , anyone can join . The toilets are always dirty . Some people are savage , they pee on the floor ..

The staff was great at helping me do my membership

-Warm and clean showers (important for heavy trainers you don’t want your muscles get cold to much)
-Looking after the equipment nicely and machines get repaired as soon
-large gym with a very good air conditioning
-numbered popular machines like leg press an smith machines
- large , free parking area
- not expensive
