This isn't my first review of James Porter & Son Ltd., but it's worth restating what a splendid company it is.

I recent bought two watches as employee gifts. The purchase was simple, efficient and flawless due to the genuinely excellent customer service and efficiency of the lovely folk who work there.

I even received a handwritten note, which was thoughtful and impressive; who'd imagine that a busy retail business would go to that trouble these days?

If you value quality, and splendid service and you are looking for jewellery or watches you'd be hard pressed to find a better option than James Porter & Son.

Ordered a gold initial E pendant for our daughter’s 40th birthday.
The Company were quick to respond to an email query and we received the item the day after ordering.
We also had a personalised note wishing our daughter a happy birthday!

I was very happy with my online purchase experience. I decided to submit price match request as I preferred buying from this store due to their great reputation. The Advisor Zoe was extremely supportive, polite and pleasant. She kept me informed about the delivery and tracking of my items. When I received the package, it made my day as it was packaged very beautifully. I am very happy with the products. I highly recommend this store because you can rarely get such great treatment nowadays. I would definitely consider purchasing again and even ordering something bespoke in the future because their service is very reliable and professional.

Outstanding customer service. Extremely helpful. They provided photographs of the item (since I was purchasing online) and the staff were extremely amenable. Very impressed.

My partner and I first popped in to look for an engagement ring and were warmly welcomed by Laura. At the time, my partner wasn’t sure about the style or sizing she wanted, but Laura guided us through the options with patience and expertise, helping us gradually narrow things down until we found a ring we both loved.

Laura’s knowledge of jewellery, as well as the variety of styles and sizes available, was truly impressive. She answered all of our questions with clarity and confidence, making the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable.

We had visited other jewellers in Manchester and Liverpool, but none came close to the level of customer service we received from Laura. We would wholeheartedly recommend James Porter & Son for their beautiful selection—and especially Laura for her outstanding service during each of our visits.

Visited the shop on Saturday to see Jean as she helped me last year buying a necklace and I was looking for a bracelet, she had one to match and I also bought a beautiful watch. Jean was amazing so attentive and helpful she is an asset to the business. I will be back.

We were in on Saturday to choose our wedding rings and the experience was amazing! We were served by the lovely Jackie and we honestly can’t thank her enough for making our visit to the store so perfect. As a petite woman, finding contemporary everyday jewellery that doesn't overwhelm me is challenging.

After years of searching, I stumbled upon the James Porter & Son website.

Upon exploring their website, I discovered unique pieces: a necklace and a necklet.

Due to their high quality, these two pieces will last me a lifetime. The only downside is that I don't live in Glasgow, as I would love to visit their store.

Their prices are reasonable, which is a massive bonus.

This will be my go-to jewellery store for years to come.

The outstanding customer service blows me away. The staff go above and beyond to meet your needs.

I had been looking at a pair of earrings that didn’t have a picture of them being worn by someone, so wanted a bit of scale for reference. I messaged the company and they responded right away with a photo of one of the staff modelling the earrings, and they answered all of my questions promptly. Really friendly and great service.
The earrings arrived within 2 days, and are absolutely gorgeous. Highly recommend!

Bought a beautiful necklace online for my daughter.
It arrived quickly with lovely packaging.

I made a phone call to check if they had a rare item, they confirmed that they had it and it arrived the next day.

Absolutely avoid James Porter and Son. My recent return was unjustly rejected due to alleged damage that was demonstrably not my fault. They claimed the damage occurred because the "watch head was not securely fastened" and the "bracelet was loose" upon return. This is a blatant falsehood.
To prevent damage, I detached the bracelet and securely packed it separately from the watch head. Their claim is a fabrication to avoid responsibility. The dismissive communication from Allan further compounded this terrible experience. They prioritise deflecting blame over customer satisfaction.
This retailer provides shockingly poor customer service and invents baseless reasons to refuse returns. Steer clear if you value your money and a fair buying experience. One star is far too generous.

Ordered Wednesday arrived Thursday by Royal Mail special delivery. Lovely hand written message from John Porter & sons staff member inside.

I have been using James Porter & Son since the early 90s, and my experience with them has always been outstanding. Over the years, they have consistently provided top-notch service, and I’ve never been disappointed.
