Bravo Irish Ferries
Bravo Irish Ferries! The Pet Den is a fantastic addition. We had a great crossing with our dog by our side. The area was clean and the outdoor space was fabulous. You provided poo bags, bins to discard the waste. What struck me was that the Pet Den was the most peaceful area on the ship. Dogs and their owners were contented, happy and felt looked after. Thank you and we will be travelling with you again because of this service you offer.

I want to leave feedback about a very bad experience with Irish Ferries, both when leaving the UK and when coming back from France.
When leaving the UK, we spent around 1 hour and 30 minutes stuck in the queue because everything was moving extremely slowly. This was not normal traffic, just very poor organisation.
On the way back from France, we were only 20 minutes late. According to your website, the next ferry should have been around 1:30–1:40, but at the desk we were moved to a ferry at 3:50, meaning we had to wait over 4 hours.
What made it worse was the attitude of the lady at the desk. She was speaking loudly and blaming us for being late, even though a 20-minute delay clearly does not justify such a long wait.
Overall, this was a very frustrating experience:
- poor organisation,
- information on the website not matching reality,
- bad customer service.
I expect an explanation for this situation.

Poor management of the car influx into the passport control queues. We managed to catch our ferry 5min before the gates closed despite having turned up 1h30 ahead of departure time. many cars behind us missed it. Not fun when you are going home for Christmas.

Wij waren 55 minuten voor checken time aanwezig. Dus ja 5minuten te laat. Moesten toen wachten vanwege personeelswisseling. Deze mw die nauwelijks engels sprak heeft ons toen op een latere boot ingeboekt. Toen we bij de ferry aankwamen waren ze nog steeds aan het uitladen dus wij hadden best op onze geboekte ferry kunnen inschepen ipv nu 3 uur moeten wachten waardoor ook andere afspraken in de knoop kwamen
Total Failure to manage booking
I CANCELLED our IRISH FERRIES booking and travelled Ireland - France on Brittany ferries who are excellent.
IRISH FERRIES POORLY MANAGED THE DISRUPTION CAUSED BY STORM AS IF IT WAS THE 1st Storm they had experienced on the Irish Sea.
In particular poor communication,...phones not answered and out of date recorded messages.
Avoid using them & TRAVEL BRITTANY FERRIES.
Avoid
One hour late leaving.
Two hours late arriving.
No communication through out.
Disgrace.
Problems when ferry has lifts
I see there are reports of there being no lifts on one of the Irish ferries. The Isle of Innismore has got two customer lifts but they don't both cover all levels hence when one breaks down there can be difficulties for anyone with mobility problems. On Monday the green lift got stuck while we were disembarking at Dover. Luckily there was nobody in a wheelchair and the lady using crutches was eventually able to get down to the next floor to access the blue lift. That just left getting across a busy vehicle deck to the coach. Staff on level 8 appeared to be unable (unwilling?) to contact the vehicle deck controllers to help us get across the busy deck despite having onboard phone devices.
Food would probably have been ok if it had been warm.
Ferry(isle of Inishmore) with shower for all
I passed the channel on the 27th Oct. ´25 to Dover. The "isle of Inishmore" had showers available to all customers!! It was the first time I had this wonderful service on a ferry I had only seen available for commercial drivers. Now I know what to look for when booking a ferry!

2:40 sailing which was an hour late but…
2:40 sailing which was an hour late but these things happen weather etc, anyway as a disabled person I've never been treated so badly by staff, the level of ignorance completely baffled me, speechless how bad they treat there customers as I watched customer services after my hideous treatment to see if it was just me, am not irish but I noticed they seem to hv issues and problems with Irish people too why I don't know, thought they were just being racist to disabled people but they've serious hatred for certain demographic of people really unbelievable. Never ever seen anything like that in my life and never thought I would.
Dirty ferry and cold cab to get a rest
Dirty, stinky ferry Ulysses. Unfriendly staff, rude especially in the duty free shop. In the cab it's not a first time there is no aircon. You can't warm the cab up at all. You are freezing while you try to get some sleep. Lack of management when on or off board. Didn't care to switch on the fridge when disconnected. Comparing to Stena Line I'm very disappointed
Treated like cattle
Dont trust the information given when a delay is sent, blamed the weather for the delay from rosslare to pembroke yet the same time ferry to holyhead from dublin left near on time.
No information given after this we just had to sit there, so nice for them to offer a free soft drink though after waiting an extra 3 hours beyond the delay.
If you can swim, id recommend it instead

The Ceasar salad looked great and with 50% off we thought grumbly tummies were in for a treat. We were delayed boarding so we hurried to find a table to devour our hot chips, salad and a roll. We couldn’t find any butter for our roll but a hungry belly needs no sauce. On the subject of sauce, the ceasar dressing was rather nice but the salad it accompanied left us less than impressed. The salad had about 50% brown lettuce and the croutons were soggy.

Outstanding service from Irish Ferries – Dover to Calais
I had an absolutely amazing experience with Irish Ferries when traveling from Dover to Calais. While waiting to board, my car battery went completely flat after charging my phone with the car turned off. I went to the Irish Ferries office for help, and the manager went above and beyond to assist me.
He first tried to jump-start my car, but when that didn’t work, he offered to personally take me out of the port to buy a new battery. He drove me all the way into the city, waited while I got a replacement, and then even helped me change the battery using his own tools.
You don’t often meet people so genuinely kind and helpful. I’m incredibly grateful for his time and effort. it turned what could have been a stressful day into a really positive experience.

Booked on the James Joyce hollyhead to Dublin. On a quiet empty boat. I'm a freight driver common for drivers to be treated as a second class citizen by irish ferries. Never used them only when im caught with time. Boarded boat with a severe flu eyes watering the works. I asked when getting a cabin could I get a single for obvious reason. Was told all drivers are sharing (it's very busy).And people wonder how covid spread in Ireland. I did not take the cabin I have more respect for my fellow human s.mor than irish ferries has that's for sure . A disgrace. Should be made take the name irish of it.nothing about it

Disappointed
Running 80 minutes late on a 90 minute crossing is impressive, apart from that nothing else was impressive. The boards still gave the ferry we were booked on as being on time even when it was already 45 minutes past the leaving time and there was no sign of the ferry. The staff were a mix of friendly and rude. The food was cold and in short supply. Our first experience of Irish Ferries over DFDS but will definitely spend the extra and go with another company in future.
