io parlo come host e purtroppo devo dire che Homestay non si comporta (a mio avviso chiaramente) in maniera professionale: i clienti/viaggiatori non vengono avvertiti della tassa di soggiorno "obbligatoria" ormai anche per gli alloggi privati, Io mi trovo obbligata a DOVERE chiedere questo "supplemento" ripeto "obbligatorio" per legge.
LA TASSA DI SOGGIORNO PER ABITAZIONI PRIVATE E' ENTRATA IN VIGORE UN ANNO FA! ...ripeto che, visto che questo cambiamento è dovuto non per decisione dell'host ma del GOVERNO, dovreste solo avvertire che all'importo vanno aggiunte tasse "governative" . Tutto quà. Non mi sembra niente di trascendentale aggiornarsi e stare al passo con i cambiamenti (fatti anche per evitare evasione fiscale)

Immaculate Customer Support
Website is good, Customer Support is immaculate! I booked a room with a host, I was being careful by asking few questions but the host got really angry saying that I asked too much, even when I am being polite. The way she reacted made me was a little insecure because the host sounded really mad. So I contacted the support and seek their help, told them about the situation, and thankfully I am eligible to get a refund. Eva(Customer Support) went as far as calling me to update me regarding the issue, this never happen before, usually on other sites they just outright ignore me after I paid. Apparently the customer support here really cares for their customer. Thanks! 100/5 stars

Great customer service when issue with…
Great customer service when issue with host arose regarding the booking. They sorted it out very quickly. Important factor to remember when using this useful travel site is that you are not staying in a hotel but some ones house and they are living there also. You either like that or you don't and you must embrace it to get the full advantage from it if you do accept the conditions. I had my own doubts about it but it all worked out super brill for me.

In my opinion, nobody should ever be paid for an honest review. This is horrible and goes against the review system. Reviews should be honest and not paid for. I would not dream of accepting 30 euro to allow my review be published.

Homestay is a scam do not trust them
Homestay is a scam. They don’t pay Host and they waste your time. I will no longer support them.
They book my property and at the last minute the guest cancelled and absolutely no one paid nothing.
They have already removed my listing and that is ok, no point of being on there if you’re not going to get paid for guest who don’t show or cancel at the last minute.

Exceeded my expectation
Exceeded expectation!
When I book with Home stay, my intention it’s to have a slightly more personal touch during my stay and last time I wasn’t disappointed at all. Stay was very awful and the breakfast is very very good. Highly recommend my experience to anyone I know.
Is Homestay broken?
I have used Homestay in Spain in the past and really enjoyed it. In fact, we made some good friends through it.
But last summer and this winter I tried to book homestays in Spain. Out of 11 or 12 hosts contacted, only one replied. And that person had separate casitas for which they charged hotel rates (Eur 70 per night). This is fine and we booked it.
However, the nonresponse rate is really unacceptable. I welcome the information about prompt replies on the listings but feel that Homestay should also add a note of nonresponses so people don't waste time on hosts who are inactive but still listed.

Consider removing inactive hosts
After have trying to reach out to numerous homestays without respond I give up. Maybe you should reach out to the homestay hosts to ensure that they are actually still active/looking for tenants? I can imagine covid changed the circumstances for many families which might no longer actually want to host people for various reasons. Having your website cluttered with inactive hosts might make it possible for you to advertise that you have a huge network of homestay offers (nice on the surface), but it is a frustrating experience to actually find a homestay for your customers.
Hosts at liberty to cancel your booking at last minute
I booked accommodation through Homestay 8 months ahead of my check in date. The booking was cancelled at late notice and Homestay offered no support whatsoever. I have had a terrible experience and would warn anyone thinking of using Homestay that hosts can and do cancel bookings at late notice. You run the risk of having nowhere to stay. My host has cancelled three bookings at late notice (based on Reviews on the Homestay website)
Really bad experience : HOST WITH MENTAL PROBLEMS !
Really bad experience ! The host had a serious MENTAL PROBLEMS. Homestay doesn't take the time to check the host's medical or criminal record. The police brook in when I wasn't home, the host moved out of the country while I was still renting. I took my things back after a while and had to come to London again to take them.
I couldn't believe my eyes, I am still traumatised !
Be careful when you choose a host, get the time to know them first.

looked for availability, it offered a single room at this location, a host took 24 hours to come back to say it is not available for these days, so now, i have to start again, and no guarantee mew room that is shoeing as availabke is actually available, dont waste your time trying to save pennies, this website does not show you exact availability and you are waisting your time requesting something that is not available

Very good experience
My daughter went to Brighton UK for her master's degree. We found a good room in a beautiful neighborhood on homestay.com. In a very expensive city, this was a last-minute great deal.
Quick problem-solving by Homestay
Please note I have erased my previous review of a situation where the host cancelled twice because her "family would be visiting".
This is because the very next day, Homestay.com emailed me to tell me her listing has been temporarily removed from their site and they will be happy to refund the booking fee.
Kudos to Homestay for quickly fixing the situation. I have researched airbnb complaints and there are just as many cancellations by hosts there.
I would argue that Homestay is much cheaper and that pausing the host's listing is more effective at deterring the hosts from pulling this stunt than airbnb's little fines.

In March 2022 I had unpaid guests from the Homestay website - Homestay and guest did not transfer the payment for the accomodation to me.
When I asked to transfer payment for reservation, the Homestay team got rude to me on the phone and blocked my account on the Homestay website - so that I could no longer rent my rooms from them.
I do not recommend anyone to contact Homestay anymore! You will be left without money!

All that is written in the answer is not true. They don't answer emails. They put this info out just now, and still they don’t return the money and don’t pay, and they don’t answer the contact. I don't recommend them to anyone.

I love HomeStay!
I used Homestay.com last year when I visited Barcelona during the summer. I had a wonderful experience! The prices of the listings were so affordable and I got to stay in a superb apartment near Plaza Catalunya. The whole experience was fantastic. My host was super welcoming and she gave me lots of local tips that I wouldn't find in any travel guide! My communication with the host and payment process went super well and smoothly. I would highly recommend anyone to use Homestay. (+ kudos to their support team that were so kind and supported meso well when I had a few questions about the platform)
Amazing accomodation experience
Had an amazing stay in Barcelona...host was super friendly and helpful. The other guests were also very sound. Would definitely book again and recommend to friends
