Travelled 2 hours for a viewing only to be told they don’t have the flat I booked, and that they can only show me a 2 bed and 1 bed floor plans. 0 communication on this prior to my arrival, Jimber was unapologetic & claimed he didn’t want to waste my time?? Not worth the hassle of dealing with them, I’ve also had the price raise £300+ on apartments I’ve enquired about. Absolute joke

★☆☆☆☆ Extremely poor experience
Unfortunately, my experience with Home Made has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing.
Communication throughout the process has been extremely poor. I found myself repeatedly having to chase for answers to straightforward questions, with information either not being provided, being unclear, or taking far too long to come back. For something as important and time-sensitive as arranging a new home, the whole process felt unnecessarily stressful.

What frustrated me most was the apparent lack of ownership. Rather than having someone properly understand my circumstances, communicate clearly and help move the application forward, I felt as though I was constantly having to manage the process myself and chase different people to establish what was actually happening.

I was open and transparent about my circumstances from the outset and provided the information and supporting documentation requested. Despite that, I found the communication around the application particularly difficult and, at times, lacking the level of care and professionalism I would expect from a letting agent handling something as significant as somebody's home.

A letting agent should make the process easier for both landlord and tenant. In my experience, Home Made achieved the opposite. The amount of unnecessary chasing, uncertainty and stress involved has been extraordinary.

Based purely on my own experience, I would find it very difficult to recommend Home Made.

Shocking service, they use an AI assistant to answer all the phone calls which constantly interrupt you and doesn't actually listen to your answers. I originally attempted to contact them via a phone number they have on one of their listings. I was on hold for that number for 25 minutes. I never got through because instead, nearing the end of those 25 minutes when I filled out a contact form for the listing I was looking at, I was immediately contacted with a phone call from this AI assistant. Which just goes to show you that they probably have either nobody actually working there and/or none of the employees want to do the work and instead are all relying on this AI assistant, which is shocking from a management perspective.

Absolutely don't recommend, because if they do this on their inquiry phone call, God knows what they do when they actually manage viewings or listings. Very deceptive.

Update from 22nd of September-

I have now had numerous calls and texts multiple times a day from this AI phone bot despite insisting and telling it I am no longer interested in the viewing nor do I want to talk to an AI phone bot. I would also like to add that this company replied to my review this morning and have also flagged this review for “defamatory content” despite only being an accurate description of my experience. Also worth noting when dealing with this company I suppose.

Taylor was an absolute gem showing me around Sherlock Quarter. Not your usual run-of-the-mill letting experience — he took the time to understand me, the vibe I was looking for and what I actually needed and made it so easy.

A real credit to his team and the company. You can tell he genuinely cares, and that makes all the difference for me. Could not be happier 🫶🏻

I wasn’t expecting it to be this smooth and easy to get it all done. The viewing was done by Jimber, amazing positive energy and how relaxed he is helped seal the deal by making me extremely comfortable on how the building works and how easily everything is handled. One of the best viewings I’ve ever had and that speaks volumes on the level of professionalism and customer service Jimber had throughout the viewing, and from the initial up to the final process.
Mr Tommaso was also a crucial part of the process as everything was handled within MINUTES !!
Absolutely recommend HOMEMADE and many more people should use this company ! 10/10

Pira was so lovely and welcoming! We mentioned what we wanted and they recommended a flat that we weren’t even meant to be shown and that’s what we went for! Pira was so understanding and accommodating of what we wanted, and was a lovely person! The booking process was so easy too.

It was a lovely experience today with Taylor at Sherlock quarter Birmingham. He was really nice and patient although we had so much second thoughts.

Took my £250 holding deposit on 25th August for a move in date of 7th September. I submitted every document requested (and more) the very next day. A flat that was advertised has “Available immediately”.

Then silence. No updates, no timeline, no confirmation that my tenancy would go ahead.

I had to chase their referencing partner myself just to get things moving. A full week passed with nothing. On the day I finally withdrew because I couldn't risk being homeless, they sent me an automated "statement of account" email 7 minutes after my termination request, as if everything was business as usual.

When I asked for my deposit back, they tried to claim I was the one who failed to take necessary steps, despite doing everything asked of me within the first 24 hours. They are now attempting to retain my holding payment.

Their process seems designed to run the clock, leave you in limbo until the last possible moment, and then keep your money when you're forced to make other arrangements. I would strongly advise anyone considering renting through Home Made to think carefully before handing over a holding deposit.

We had a lovely viewing with Kerri, she was amazing at showing us around and answering all the questions we had. She was also very helpful with submitting an offer :)

The viewing date was changed without any prior email or notification, and despite making several attempts to contact the agency by phone, none of my calls were answered.

There were around 18 people waiting to view the property, yet no agent arrived and no explanation or communication was provided. This demonstrates a serious lack of organisation, communication, customer service and basic business sense.

I would strongly recommend considering other agencies before booking a viewing through this company. The way this viewing was handled showed very little regard for prospective tenants’ time and resources and raised serious concerns about the agency’s overall professionalism and business practices.

Totally unprofessional. Did not even bother to send an email before changing the dates o viewing. did not pickup any calls that I made. The company doesn't have any business sense. Just really no management and no comms at all. there were 18 people waiting to view the property and no agent showed up. Please dont waste your time and resources to book viewing through this agency. They really lack basic communication skills and have no sense of doing business at all.

You advertised the property at 1320 to 1400 per month. When we visited, we were told there is nothing in the development with 2 bedrooms below 1650 per month.

That is a significant gap, and it meant we travelled to a viewing for something that was never available at the price shown. I do not understand why a listing would be left up with figures that do not exist on site.

There has been a lot of follow up and automated messaging from your side. I would suggest that effort is better spent making sure the listings are accurate in the first place. Accurate pricing is the basic thing renters need from a platform like yours.

As it stands, I will not be viewing any further properties through Home Made.

Very confusing experience, so if you're looking to use this estate agent, I would use it cautiously.

I started by finding a property on Rightmove, which I followed by calling them directly to see if it was still available. When speaking to the member of staff on the phone, I was told it was not available and that the next best thing was a price increase, which then explained would be out of budget. This prompted a rude response from her, saying, "I thought it would be." Following on from this, Rightmove was adjusted toysay a let had been agreed. This was obviously not the best first experience for a potential customer.

A couple of hours later, the property was then re-listed and available. I then enquired about this, and they were quick to respond and get me booked in for a viewing. They were very thorough in terms of reminders for said viewing. However, once set off for this viewing, which was scheduled for 10 am (30th July) and is over an hour and a Half's drive, I received a message from one member of staff at 8:57 am asking to reschedule for a later time, then followed by a different member of staff phoning me at 8:59 to ask me to reschedule again for an earlier time, which i declined as i wasn't able to do so. To add to the confusion, at 9:01 am I received 2 messages from a completely different number saying they looked forward to seeing us at the property for our viewing at the original time; this was then followed by a cancellation message with a link to rebook.

When I looked to rebook, it would appear that all times they offer are free to book on multiple different days, and when looking back on Rightmove, the property in question has now been taken off the market. Follow another search later that day, I discovered the same property has been re-listed but for a larger price.

As well as this, you are contacted by multiple different people using multiple different numbers, and there seems to be no communication between them. I almost feel bombarded with the different contact methods, including my emails, iMessages, WhatsApp, and phone number.

Overall, not the greatest experience, as there is obviously a lack of organisation, which has ultimately put me off using this company, and I won't be rebooking a viewing.

Zeeco has been of a great help. Made a viewing, followed up and answered All my questions making my experience spotless and reassuring. Especially because it was my 1st time using homemade.

The team is really amazing. We had viewing with Kerrie and the later process was handled by Brad.Both of them are really great and because of the prompt response we had an amazing experience. Will totally recommend ☺️

We were able to schedule a viewing pretty easily, though the link that was sent afterwards congratulated us on securing the apartment before an agreement was drafted.

Once that was sorted, Brad in particular, was super responsive and very helpful, answering any question, identifying new units that were coming on the market and moving the leasing process forward once we found a match on desired move-in dates.

We had a viewing with Anais and she was very helpful and informative about the whole process. This being our first experience with renting was very daunting at first but she put us at ease and even helped us with filling out the initial form. All in all it was an amazing experience and the place was very nice and exceeded our expectations of what we saw in pictures as well.
