Historic Workshops Arvostelua

David was absolutely brilliant! We are definitely booking for next year and specifically asking for David.

Gareth engaged the children from the start. They were very excited about the items that he brought with him. He was very knowledgeable and could answer any of the questions thrown at him. He seemed to have a genuine interest in history which rubbed off onto the children. They were keen to write their recount of the day! The activities were well-timed and very engaging. The fact that they could touch and explore the artefacts was a huge bonus. I am hoping to book Gareth again next year. I was worried that a visitor would be less exciting that a trip out, but Gareth was fantastic and we didn't have to pay for a coach - always a huge cost factor nowadays!

The children loved the activities and Adam was great. He arrived at 7.30am in the morning and was able to set up and he briefed all the staff involved. Some of the children said, "It was the best day ever!"

Rob (the workshop leader) was fantastic! He was really engaging and you could tell he really engaged the children! He was well organised and very knowledgeable which made the day run smoothly. We love this experience every year and find it invaluable!

Very interactive and entertaining. Children were very engaged and David had good behaviour mangament skills. Very knowledgable beyond the topic.

Thank you for delivering the history workshop for our pupils. While the children enjoyed aspects of the day, we would like to share some feedback that we hope will be helpful for future sessions.

There were not enough authentic board game counters and reed pens for the class. When you're paying the cost we are, the resources should be adequate for the activity. The board games session is also too long, we as a staff have thought this with other sessions we have booked with yourselves previously. Whilst they are a good element of the day, they could be half the time and something else added in.

We felt that the level of teacher involvement requested throughout the day was higher than expected; we had hoped this would be a fully immersive experience led by the provider so staff could step back and observe. Additionally, although not inappropriate, the level of physical contact with the teacher made her feel uncomfortable, and this was noticeable enough that some children also commented on it.

We appreciated the provider's apology for yawning, but it did impact the energy of the delivery at times.

Thank you again for visiting our school – we hope this feedback supports the continued improvement of what has the potential to be a valuable and engaging experience for pupils.

We had a fantastic day participating in the Victorian workshop. Both David and Gareth were brilliant and really tailored the day the meet our children's needs. The Victorian classroom session was great and the lesson was toned down to suit our year 1 children. The children absolutely loved playing with the toys, digging for artefacts and making their very own peg dolls to take home with them. Overall the children had a great time and were so engaged throughout the whole thing! Thank you to David and Gareth for being so amazing!!

We had an ancient Egypt day with Rob. The children had a great time. He fully engaged them from the moment they walked into the hall where he had his mummification table set up. They loved the games and activities that were planned for them. He made our day fun and educational!

The children loved our Mayan Day. Rob was fantastic, he really inspired the children and they had an amazing day exploring Maya Culture. All of the resources and activities were engaging and pitched perfectly for our children. Thank you so much for a wonderful day!

Gareth had a wealth of knowledge which enraptured the children and adults. The activities were enjoyable and kept the children stimulated and generally the day was fun and wholesome.

Our second school had a victorian workshop, again with david. This initially had to be rescheduled but Historic workshops were quick to let us know and arrange a close alternative date.

The teachers there said ‘ David was exceptional – he really brought the Victorian classroom to life for the children. It was wonderful for them to have such a vivid, first-hand experience of what life was like during the Victorian era. The children were fully engaged and absolutely loved the whole experience.’

Thanks again for delivering this workshop. We will definitely be back!

The children were absorbed for the whole day.

Rob is fantastic. The whole day engages the children and truly immerses them in the world of the Vikings. This is a great, memorable experience that engages our children in history.

Fantastic Roman Workshop with Adam – Highly Recommended!

Our Year 3 class thoroughly enjoyed the Roman history workshop delivered by Adam. The session was incredibly engaging from start to finish, with a brilliant mix of hands-on activities and fascinating facts that brought the topic to life. The workshop was very well resourced, allowing all children to get involved and experience elements of Roman life in a fun and memorable way. Adam’s enthusiasm and clear knowledge of the subject made the learning exciting and accessible for all. We would definitely recommend this workshop to other schools – a fantastic enrichment experience for any Romans topic!

Gareth was such an inspiring and engaging leader. We always have a brilliant experience with Historic Workshops, and this was just superb. Gareth was so knowledgeable about the Second World War (as well as the wider context within which it sits). It cannot be understated how much of an achievement it is to keep sixty year sixes engaged and interested for an entire day at this time in the year and in the sweltering heat.

We cannot thank you enough for the enthusiasm and expertise you brought to our school, Gareth. Thank you! See you next year.

Great communication when booking, and in the lead up to, our day.
Amazing resources provided during the day.
Engaging, enthusiastic and professional leader (thank you, again, Gareth!).
Our children absolutely loved the day - it brought their learning alive!

Thank you to our wonderful guide for a fun day of Ancient Egyptian learning. Our class particularly enjoyed the mummification process and the props brought were great. They also enjoyed the papyrus and ink activity and games. As constructive feedback, the investigation of artefacts could have been a shortened session as 1hour seemed a little long for our class to concentrate on reading and writing when completing the questions.
A lovely day with a very knowledgeable and approachable guide.

David from Historic Workshops was an absolute star. From the moment he arrived he explained in detail to all of our staff how the day would go. He delivered sessions that were fun and informative. G
His knowledge was amazing and the children weren't able to come up with a question that he couldn't answer! Thank you for bringing our topic alive, we all had a fantastic day!

Gareth was a great Roman Centurion. The children responded very well to him and were so engaged with the different activities that he led. They were very involved in the story that he told about Julius Caesar and loved acting out the different parts.
Parent feedback: I just wanted to pass on my thanks to everyone involved in organising the fantastic Roman day today- my child has not stopped talking about it! It is lovely to see him so enthused about his learning and keen to share it with us.

David was absolutely incredible during our Tudor Workshop. We couldn't have asked for any more, thank you for such a fantastic day!
