Hettie Hen is a family‑run artisan food company based in Wiltshire, specialising in handmade, small‑batch Scotch and Pickled eggs crafted with care, tradition, and proper British generosity. We hatched in 2018 after discovering that customers at local markets were choosing our Scotch eggs over everything else we made — and we’ve been perfecting them ever since. Our ingredients are at the heart of what makes us different. We use free‑range Hens eggs from Southview Farm near Bradford-On-Avon, Wiltshire where hens enjoy outdoor access and a natural diet that gives their eggs rich flavour and golden yolks. And Free-to-Fly Quails Eggs from Caklebean Farm in the Cotswolds. Our pork comes from two farms in the New Forest, Hampshire— farmers known for high‑welfare farming and exceptional quality. Their Hampshire, Landrace and Duroc cross pigs produce beautifully marbled, juicy pork that’s butchered locally by R Owton, Hampshire. Every Scotch egg is made by hand, never frozen, and cooked fresh in small batches. Our range includes classic favourites, bold flavours, and vegetarian options — all created with the same commitment to quality, provenance, and honest food. I raised a concern with Touts (Nailsea)…

I raised a concern with Touts (Nailsea) about Hettie Hen Scotch eggs.

"Hi. On Friday 26th June I spent £7.75 on food, one item was inedible, a Hetti Scotch egg, the second bite I spat it out and threw it in the bin.

This Hettie scotch egg, the outer coating was greasy, fatty and full of trans fats. The memory of chewing on a heart valve has left me thoroughly disgusted.

Do you wish to make a statement before I leave a review, because if you are passionate about food, you need to honour that, not sell food which is incredibly damaging to our health.

Firstly, Thank you for choosing to shop with us, we really appreciate the local support.

Your feedback is really valuable to us as Hettie Hen is a new temporary supplier whilst Chickies scotch eggs work on restarting production after their tragic fire.
We pride ourselves in stocking the best quality local products so this will be taken into account, and we are looking for an alternative until the return of the fan favourite chickies.

I will feed this back to Hettie Hen to raise the issue of quality too.

At Hettie Hen, we take pride in the quality and integrity of our products. We want to clearly state that 100% of the meat used in our Scotch Eggs is high-quality pork. We do not use heart, offal, or any secret fillers in our recipes-a that can be verified by our official supplier specification sheets, which Touts should of confirmed to you. While taste preferences vary, claims regarding offal content are factually incorrect.
