HTYC is exactly what I needed to make a meaningful career pivot. For months, years really, I had thought about what I could do to move into a new field. This program, especially my coach, Nicole, helped me figure our what my real strengths are, and strategy to investigate potential career paths and eventually network my way to my next chapter. Nicole was a huge asset every step of the way, especially when my family decided to turn my career change into a relocation. Can't recommend HTYC enough. Working with Happen To Your Career (and, in particular, with my coach, Nicole!) helped me figure out what I truly wanted from the next chapter of my career. After 20+ years in market research and insights, I knew I was ready for something different, but translating decades of experience into a new direction felt daunting. Through coaching, I gained clarity around the work I wanted to be doing, the strengths I wanted to use more of, and the kind of organization where I would thrive. I realized I wanted to move away from highly transactional, quota-driven sales roles and toward work where I could build meaningful relationships, serve as a strategic advisor, and contribute to an organization whose work I genuinely believed in.

What I appreciated most was that the process wasn’t about simply finding another job; it was about understanding what kind of work would actually be a better fit for me and then developing a strategy to pursue it. Nicole helped me see how transferable my experience really was, explore possibilities outside my industry, and stay focused on what mattered most to me throughout the job search and interview process.

I ultimately accepted a leadership role in the nonprofit sector that brings together so much of what I was looking for: relationship-building, strategic advising, leadership, and the opportunity to help shape the direction of an organization. Making a significant industry transition after such a long career in one field is something I’m very proud of, and I’m incredibly grateful to HTYC for helping me navigate it with clarity and confidence.

Troubleshooting with a career coach (Leigh is excellent!) helped me figure out how to network (relatively) painlessly, how LinkedIn ACTUALLY works, what the labor market is up to, and other contextual clues that have nothing to do with knowing what you want or what you’re good at.. in the 21st century, with AI everywhere, you need a guide to the new ecosystem. This is it.

I came to HTYC at a different point in my career journey—I was already out of work and needed direction as I figured out what was next. Amy helped me rebuild my confidence and, more importantly, change how I viewed myself and the value I bring. She also pushed me to expand my job-search approach, from broadening my networking to looking beyond my immediate area for opportunities, while staying flexible enough to refocus when needed. I still have work to do in my journey, but I’m moving forward with a stronger mindset, greater clarity, and plenty of moments of both laughter and tears along the way.

After nearly 20 years at Wells Fargo, I found myself at an important career crossroads. I knew I wanted my next chapter to look different, but I needed help gaining clarity on what that could become.

I had a wonderful experience with HTYC. I turned to them after feeling stuck and disengaged at work for several years. I wasn’t having success making a transition on my own. I’d listened to the podcast and read the book and liked their approach so gave it a try. It was a great decision. My coach Nicole helped me every step of the way, starting with identifying what energized/drained me at both the company and role level. Working with me to identify and articulate my strengths helped me tell my story in a more effective way during networking conversations. My networking approach was more targeted and gave me the courage to explore totally different roles across industries and uncover some interesting companies that weren’t ever on my radar. When I was interviewing, the mock interviews and guidance on follow up were so useful. She helped me fill in gaps I didn’t even realize I had, strengthening my position more than I could’ve done on my own. I really felt like it made a huge difference in my interview process. I had great rapport with her and looked forward to meeting with her every week. She was so useful in building my confidence and being strategic. I was so happy to land an amazing job. Having done the work to think about my ideal role and company fit made me know it was the right move. I’m happy to say it’s working out great, and I’m much happier, with every aspect of my work life! My journey with HTYC has helped me change the course of my life and career in a direction that feels fulfilling and intentional, rather than guessing and hoping. I've been able to interact with numerous staff members who were all knowledgeable and helpful. The work I did through the career change bootcamp gave me the insight and information that I needed to make decisions that were right for me, and the coaches helped me use that information to integrate it into my decision making. My circumstances were a bit odd because when I started working with HTYC, I made the decision to go back to school. So my sessions were put on pause while I made progress in that direction. Some time later, I returned to coaching and completed my sessions which helped me navigate my career and support my life while I'm in school, as well as gain the skills necessary to begin my new career upon finishing school. In particular Steve Martinez has been wonderful to work with and is an outstanding coach. I can't say enough nice things about Steve! He is intelligent, kind, professional, and so insightful! I started out listening to the HTYC podcast after feeling stuck in a role that no longer aligned with my values. I really enjoyed hearing about Scott's journey and felt inclined to work with HTYC after hearing how he approached career changes - he was so down to earth and what he was saying just clicked with me. They are truly professionals and care about their clients!

I worked with Amy as my coach - she was so inspiring, and willing to meet me where I was. She was excellent at 'dreaming' with me, and helped me see how many transferable skills I have from one career to the next. HTYC is different because their focus is wholly on you and what you actually want in your career. I am a middle-aged woman who has had a few careers but nothing that fully resonated with who I am. I knew I wanted more but didn't know what to do besides applying for myriad jobs I found posted online that sounded "interesting".

HTYC, and especially my coach Amy, gave me the tools and time to figure out who I am, what I love doing, where I thrive (and don't thrive!). Everything was focused on me as a person, not on my identity as a "future employee" somewhere. For me, that personal attention and recognition was worth any price (though HTYC is actually very affordable for all they offer).

As with any coaching service, you will get from it what you put into it. HTYC just makes it enjoyable and rewarding to engage with them to get to where you want to go. And Amy's ability to understand me, grow with me, help me stay focused while still allowing the freedom to always be myself, was worth everything.

I really can't say enough good things about HTYC and have been recommending them anytime I hear someone talk about "doing something different". I highly recommend booking a consultation call if you've been thinking about a change.

I felt really stuck in my career until I found HTYC. I had tried several other coaching programs and was left feeling dissatisfied. Finding HTYC brought me some hope. HTYC is a group of people who care about helping others. They have a good system in place and people with the expertise to get you where you want to go. I had a great time working with Dianna and she helped me a lot both with my career and personally. It is a pretty significant investment but I would say it was well worth it!

In the daunting world of career change, after spending so much time with no results, it was helpful to have someone coming alongside. I think I would've given up if I didn't have my coach supporting, listening, validating and helping me hold on to what was possible. As a person that never writes reviews, I felt strongly that I needed to share my experience with Laura McClernon. She helped me get a deeper understanding of my strengths, get clear on my values...AND ultimately helped me leave my job of over 2 decades. She asks the BEST questions and is phenomenal at building your confidence by fostering "tiny experiments" that really help you zero in on what would really be fulfilling work. As I enter into my "encore career," I can't thank Laura and HTYC enough. Most likely I will continue coaching once I'm ready to step into the next chapter as I believe Laura's coaching really accelerated my path to action. If you are stuck, need to understand your values and your "why" and get excited about trying new things, Laura is your person!

I've never really gone on a guided or semi-guided journey of self discovery before but my time with HTYC and Steve Martinez was just that, and I don't mean to be cute about it. I started out with pretty basic goals, find a way out of my current situation, get a job that was a better fit and maybe land a bridge role to facilitate both. After 4 months of working with Steve, I'm in a totally different place. I'm thinking bigger. I don't even apply to jobs anymore because I am after something more. Being able to bounce ideas off him, get his take, and hash things out really helped me progress. I talk a lot, and I jump around a lot from day to day but Steve kept me focused. He's a Viking. I think the big thing about the program is that it makes you think, and then makes you take action. Those worksheets aren't going to fill themselves out. Not sure how it will all turn out, but Steve was a steady hand I got what I needed out of HTYC and more.
