I’ve just completed my second hair transplant procedure with Tony Owen at Hair Transplant Solutions, and once again, the service was absolute second to none. Having used Tony's service before, I knew I was in good hands, but the entire experience still exceeded my expectations.

I’m so glad that I chose to use Hair Transplant Solutions over every other one I looked at. The chaperone service offered made me feel so at ease when I was travelling alone into Istanbul. The level of care goes deep from the moment you get off the plane to well beyond the hair transplant and into the after care. I was recommended from a friend and I’m really glad he led me to go get my hair this way!

So I had a the chaperone service. It was very professionally organised and ran. Hotel and hospital very clean and again looked professional. My hair transplant didn’t quite go as I’d of liked to be honest. I went down to have the surgery and felt fine. They wanted to take some blood, so they tried to take it from my left arm and couldn’t get any after yanking at my arm. Which has never happened! I passed out to wake up and not know what’s gone on? They gave me sugar and carried on with the right arm but I was totally dazed and shaking. The surgery started and my whole body was shaking and in distress for 8 hours. It was honestly 8 hours of hell! The hospital surgeon’s were shouting at me to stop shaking while I couldn’t help it. Towards the end they were getting fed up and really shouting but again I couldn’t. My body must of been in total shock and panic. Anyway after the procedure I was told I was as white as a ghost. 8/10 months on from the procedure my hair started to fall out rapidly, probably 12-15 every morning. I was still taking biotin and multivitamins as I bought from hospital and was quite expensive. Think I paid an extra £250 for hair solution and multivitamins. Anyway I mentioned what was happening and was told it was normal and that if it carries on I must be ill (Covid/ illness). So I booked another blood test which I was totally fine on (I’ve had bloods taken three times after, all ok). I had the advanced blood test to check 126 biomarks to check health etc. It came back all ok and fine just a slightly high HDL cholesterol but nothing to worry about. My bloods were 93% in the green. I was told by the doctor in the hospital would give me a call but I’ve not heard anything since and very disappointed to be honest to be left. Nearly all the follicles have fallen out and looking even worse than I did before. Patchy in areas and completely fell out of the back. I honestly think it was how the procedure went and why my hair is the way it is now. My head and body must of been under so much stress. With my whole body shaking for 8 hours, it wasn’t a nice feeling at all! When I got home it got infected too and my head was so itchy for a month or two. I have a clear patch at the front that I was informed I must have bumped it and damaged the area! Don’t get me wrong everything is quite professional but I just don’t think I got what i paid for!

I deliberately waited a month before writing this review so I could give a balanced assessment of both the procedure and the recovery. Looking back now, I'm very happy with my decision to use Hair Transplant Solutions, and the biggest reason for that has been Tony's outstanding support before, during and after my transplant.

Like many people, I was nervous about travelling to Turkey and putting my trust in people I'd never met. Using Hair Transplant Solutions removed those worries. Tony's experience, honest advice and ongoing support have been invaluable. Even a month after surgery, he still replies to my questions—usually within minutes—and no question has ever felt like a nuisance.

Once I'd booked my flight from Manchester, Tony organised everything else. The transfers, hotel and clinic visits all ran smoothly, so I never had to worry about the logistics. The hotel was modern, clean and comfortable, and the shuttle service to the clinic was excellent.

The clinic itself was clean, modern and efficient, with friendly staff and minimal waiting times. My translator was excellent, explaining every stage of the process, answering questions and escorting me between each part of the treatment.

The doctor estimated around 3,800 grafts, but only 3,500 could safely be harvested because some hairs in my donor area were breaking at the root. I was told this can sometimes be caused by smoking, excessive caffeine or alcohol, poor diet, or stress. None of the lifestyle factors applied to me, and stress and lack of sleep were considered the most likely cause. Although disappointing, I fully respected the clinic's decision not to over-harvest my donor area, as this can cause permanent damage and, in severe cases, necrosis.

The only optional extras were the clinic's serum and biotin supplements. I think the serum is worth buying as it isn't available elsewhere, while the biotin can easily be bought in the UK if preferred.

The FUE procedure itself was very well organised. The local anaesthetic injections were the most uncomfortable part and felt similar to having a tattoo. Once numb, the rest of the procedure was virtually painless, with extra anaesthetic given whenever needed. Afterwards I was provided with antibiotics, painkillers, aspirin, stomach protection medication and clear written instructions, followed by a demonstration of the washing routine the next morning.

Recovery has gone as expected. The first week is the hardest, but things improve quickly after the scabs come away. A saline spray really helped with the itching.

Overall, my experience has been extremely positive. The reduced graft count wasn't the outcome I'd hoped for, but it wasn't the clinic's fault. Throughout the entire process I felt informed, well looked after and fully supported. Tony's knowledge, honesty and aftercare have been exceptional, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hair Transplant Solutions to anyone considering a hair transplant in Turkey.

I cannot imagine how much more daunting it would have been without Tony to talk you through the process. His advice on your hairline, etc, on the morning of the procedure was invaluable.
