This is van who drive to different parts of London selling Indian street food. There is a limited menu but the food sounds good. The truth for this Indian takeaway is that the food nor the service is far from good. Let me start by review.
Gullyuk.com came to my area in North London so we decided to go and get a takeaway. When we arrive and there are about 15 people in the queue, not too bad I thought. BUT after 27 mins we arrive at the end of the queue to place our order. We order chicken tikka with rice and a samosa chat. Two simple dishes we are very familiar with.
But after 40 mins waiting, our order has not be delivered. The queue still has 15 new people. I go to the counter to enquire. I am presented with the staff all 4 in complete mess telling each other to get on with preparing the orders, seem they were at each others throats!, no one knew who is preparing what. I ask about my order, someone in the van say 'yes yes its coming'. I Stand at the van counter hoping my presence will get them to make my order, and it does.
We get our takeaway home. Firstly its a small portion for £8. its incredibly salty. The chicken is NOT tikka, its just chicken with salt. The rice is not basmati, its the cheaper broken long grain. We taste a bit and swiftly throw the lot in the bit. The quality is extemely poor. The samosa chat is a mangle of ingredients, without any proper taste all of it straight in the bin.
Was it worth waiting 47min + 27mins; absolutely not.
I would advise if you see gullyuk.com on facebook and they are coming to your area, avoid them, spend your money at a proper place.
