Perfect policy for my needs
Easy to follow instructions and options, making the process to choose the right cover very quickly. The policy covered my exact needs without any hidden costs . The choices of cover were spot on. Policy conditions not delivered on
Very difficult to get hold of by phone. Then told my policy did not cover accidents - it does. They (whichever one of the outsourced companies it was) refused to help. They did not care that I was alone, it was evening, and I was far from home - and it was in the policy that they are obliged to help. They are like automatons just programmed to say no.
Policy is a waste of money as they refuse to honor the contract.
RESPONSE TO GOVIVID'S REPLY
I had no idea my car was 2 days out of MOT as when I purchased it 10 months earlier they said it was for a year.
Regardless if this - the out if hours response was useless. The third party you use said I'd get a callback - didn't happen. Then had no record of me calling and had a chais of teams working on different companies. When I eventually spoke to someone they said they wouldn't move it because it had been moved - it was moved a short distance off the riad to safety - you weren't available to do this. The MOT excuse was a day later after all of this. So if it was with MOT I would still have recieved the same poor communication and excuses from you.
You then offered to move the car at a cost of £400 - it was moved by a different company for £96.

To explain why the claim couldn't be covered, the breakdown policy requires that the vehicle has a valid MOT at the time of the breakdown.
This is a standard condition across the majority of breakdown providers, as it helps ensure vehicles meet the required roadworthiness standards before assistance is provided.
When we reviewed your claim, our records showed that the vehicle did not have a valid MOT. Unfortunately, this meant we were unable to provide assistance under the terms of the policy.

I was shocked regarding the assistance…
I was shocked regarding the assistance I received after my vehicle broke down approximately 30 miles from my home.
I contacted the company for breakdown assistance after discovering that I had accidentally left the car lights on, which had drained the battery. After my details were checked, I was transferred to a subcontractor.
The subcontractor informed me that a jump start could not be provided because any electrical fault was not covered under my policy. I was then told that, if I required a jump lead/start assistance, I would need to arrange for a car electrician to attend, which would cost me at least £150.
I am disappointed with the way this situation was handled. My understanding of breakdown cover is that it should provide reasonable assistance when a vehicle cannot be started, and I do not believe the response I received was made clear when I purchased the policy.
Please review this matter and provide an explanation of why a simple battery assistance call-out was refused,

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear this experience was disappointing.
Our breakdown cover does include battery failure, but it doesn't cover cases where the battery has drained because lights or electrics were left on, this is set out clearly in our policy terms, which are provided both before and at the point of sale. As this was identified as the cause here, it fell outside what's covered under the policy.
If you selected a policy with a £30 excess, this would also be payable in the event of a callout. For anything falling outside the scope of the policy, we're able to quote for this as a paid service, though it would be entirely up to you whether you wish to proceed.

If I could give them zero I would, buyers beware, would not recover me home, recover to local garage only, they said sort it out yourself and here are a couple of numbers to try, wanted to charge me £30 excess and then expect me to pay for the recovery £150, operator had poor English and did not explain very well, I was left high and dry on the side of a busy road in 38 degrees, total nightmare, do not waste your money, this company should be abolished

A few points that may help explain what happened, based on the terms of the Breakdown policy:
• If an Excess was selected at the point of purchase, this is a payable amount at the time of a claim.
• The first course of action following a breakdown is recovery to the nearest suitable garage, so the vehicle can be assessed. If it can't be repaired the same day, further options such as alternative travel or recovery to your home address may become available, but only under National Cover (or National & Home Cover).
• If a customer wants to be taken beyond what their policy level covers, this would be arranged as a separate, paid-for service outside the policy.
We'd like to look into your specific case and make sure everything was handled correctly. Please email us at info@govivid.co.uk with your policy number and a description of the circumstances and we'll investigate this in detail.

Cheap and Cheerful Breakdown Cover
It was a straight-forward online subscription in minutes. You get to see first all there is about what you’re buying into. It took me a little longer because I was comparing their quote for price and benefits against other providers, like AA, RAC, etc, and GoVivid came out the best.

I only put one star as there isn't an option for none. Was given incorrect information by staff causing a 3 hour wait on a busy motorway in the rain for a puncture repair. My fault that I hadn't noticed the excess when taking this policy out but expecting a stressed out person to read out their card details in the rain whilst on 12% battery after spending two unnecessary hours by the side of a motorway is just inhumane. Also turned out any onward travel has to be paid by yourself and claimed back. The guy who sorted the puncture was the only shining star in a very crap day

In relation to the excess, if an excess breakdown policy is selected, the excess payment does need to be taken before assistance can be arranged. These policies are optional, and the excess forms part of the level of cover chosen.
Onward travel is available on a reimbursement basis where it has been agreed by the claims administrator, and this is standard practice across breakdown providers.
We're also sorry to hear that your phone battery was running so low while you were waiting, which must have added to an already difficult situation.
