Appalling if you have a breakdown!
Appalling company if you have a breakdown! 19yr old son's car broken down; waited 20mins for call to be picked up but it wasn't; rang again and waited a further 15mins. When finally through, even though we have National cover they would only take us 25 miles (and not home which was 31 miles) Nowhere on the policy schedule sent on email, does it say National cover was 25miles. They said 'it was at their discretion' as to what they did/where they took you?!! and confirmed they are unlikely to fix car at roadside (unless a jump start or new tyre needed) as they are a recovery specialist. They claim 'less hassle, more helpful' and 'when your vehicle lets you down, we won't'! on the website. I can assure you it was a huge amount of hassle, they were not helpful and they have let us down at the time when we needed the policy to get our son home.

Only joined recently so can't really comment on how the service is as obviously not had to call you out.
Signing up was very easy and the price was good but as they say "the proof is in the pudding". Only time will tell should I need to call out sometime.

Took ages to answer the phone in an emergency breakdown
I broke down on a busy dual carrageway at around 4:30pm Friday afternoon. I phoned the police as i was in a live lane causing an obstruction, then I phoned go vivids breakdown line and had to wait for almost half an hour to get my call answered. After about 10 mins on the phone i was given a time frame of one and a half to two hours wait time.
When the police arrived they requested i phoned them again to see if the timeframe could be improved so then was on the phone waiting for my call to be answered for just over 20 mins.
Dont get me wrong once the phone was answered the recovery was arranged but the process too far longer than needed

If your breakdown is caused by a flat, blown, or punctured tyre, the following applies:
• Spare Wheel Available
If you have a usable spare wheel (including a space saver) and, where required, the locking wheel nut key, a recovery agent will fit the spare for you.
• No Spare or Missing Locking Wheel Nut Key
If a spare wheel is not available, or the locking wheel nut key is missing, you may need to source a mobile tyre fitter.
o The call-out fee is covered up to £40 (including VAT) under your policy on a reimbursement basis.
o Any costs for tyres, parts, or additional services are your responsibility.
• If a Mobile Tyre Fitter Cannot Be Arranged
Your vehicle will be recovered to the nearest suitable garage capable of carrying out the repair.

I am broken down in Brighton at 9:30 pm on a Friday. The GoVivid breakdown number +44 (0) 20 3178 7776 just rings and rings and rings until it eventually hangs up on you. NO ONE ANSWERS. Do not sign up for this company. I will be requesting a refund ASAP.

Good but too many caveats
Nice and easy to use via compare website and it covers vehicles that are older such as my 16 year old Mazda. Only negative for me was the long list of exclusions some of which I found concerning. For instance "any claim were a breakdown was caused by your failure to maintain your vehicle in a road worthy condition". What does this mean? Surely if the vehicle set off then it was in a road worthy condition. How can I know when any part may fail resulting in a breakdown? If it has a valid MOT that should be enough.

Thanks for your feedback, it’s a really valid question.
The “roadworthy condition” wording doesn’t mean we expect you to predict or prevent every possible failure, that would obviously be unrealistic. What it’s there for is to distinguish between unexpected breakdowns (which are covered) and situations where a vehicle hasn’t been properly maintained.
For example, a claim could be declined if a breakdown was caused by something like:
Known issues that weren’t repaired
Severely worn parts (e.g. bald tyres, neglected brakes)
Ignoring warning signs or dashboard alerts
But if your vehicle is regularly maintained, has a valid MOT, and hasn’t got known faults, then a sudden mechanical or electrical failure would still be treated as a genuine breakdown and covered.
The policy actually defines roadworthy condition as a vehicle that is:
Maintained and serviced in line with manufacturer guidelines
Has a valid MOT, insurance, and tax
Has no known faults at the time
So in short, you’re absolutely right that things can fail without warning, and that’s exactly what the cover is designed for. The exclusion is really there to prevent claims where lack of maintenance is the root cause.

Time will Tell
After being with my normal breakdown company for a long time - I decided to look around. I found GoVivid and have decided to give then a try. The price looked good for the same service as my old company. The wqeb site was easy to follow. So, time will tell if I have scored an own goal - or won the cup.

(18/4/26 9.15pm) - Got a great quote - but not heard of them. So I rang their number, got put through by pressing 1 to the ‘company who deals with there claims, waited on line for 10 mins - just ringing tone - no response or message saying they will ring you back.
If i had broken down and got this response I would be concerned. I wont be using them

That said, we’re proud that over 92% of our emergency calls were answered within 60 seconds between January and March 2026, so we do aim to be there quickly when it really counts.
