If I could leave zero stars, I would I created an account with them online. Got my ATM card want to use it couldn’t use. It came into the bank to see why they said I was trying to commit fraud. I only put $100 in this damn place They needed me to go home and get proof of my identity with my Social Security and some bills mailed to my address did that I’m still waiting now. I might have to wait another week for the head office to confirm my information that I brought in today. I had a 17 minute wait in line. I’ve already been sitting here for another 10 minute while they review my details and no one here as friendly do not bank with these people.

Don't ever get a car loan with this company. They don't take accountability for their mistakes. Because of this company, I am months behind on payments. Marina is a supervisor, and she is not helpful in resolving the issue. Be careful, people. Go through a different credit union.

They unexpectedly closed my account on 9/27. Nothing in the mail, no phone call, no text, no email, nothing. It's because I had another person on my account, and apparently they're no longer allowed on my account but couldn't tell me why. They said they would be sending me a check of what I had in my account. I just called them wondering where it was, and it wasn't sent out until YESTERDAY (10/9) and it will take 5-7 business days to arrive. You guys took over a week to send out my check and couldn't even send it in priority? I've been a customer for over 10 years and this is how I'm treated? Thankfully I have another bank account or I would be screwed with no way to access my money for over 2 weeks!

Refused for debt consolidation loan, after 10+years , credit score fine, income to debt racial fine, don't bank with golden 1, loyalty means nothing to them.

I have a hard time believing that this is a legitimate financial institution. I have an auto loan through them and none of the customer service agents have any concept of how various payment types work or online banking. Very strange, very off-putting. Would definitely NOT be interested in working with Golden 1 in the future.

The worst for applying ffor a home loan. Don't waste your time with these guys, go to a real bank. An average mortgage company takes 30 days or less, they couldn't get it done in 45. That caused all kinds of problems with our home purchase. Waste of time.

Recently got a car loan thru Golden One. However I have not been able to link to my Fidelity accounts in order to make a payment. Called Fidelity who told me the routing number is being rejected. Called Golden One and no one there seems to know anything about how ETF works. Then tried the reverse and link from G1 to Fidelity. Was able to validate the link via test deposits - but when I try to transfer funds it gives an error. They really don't want me to be able to make a payment! Never had this issue dealing with Patelco for my other car loan. My biggest complaint is the lack of support, knowledge at the G1 end.

Very disappointing. Customer service is not very helpful and in fact gave me the wrong information at a crucial point. Extremely poor overall clarity/disclosure in connection with our auto loan. We will not be using Golden1 for anything in the future. There are plenty of other options out there with the same products and better (and accurate) customer support.

Disappointed - (Shaw/41n Fresno Branch) Opened acct, 3 weeks later accessed it w/my card just to get a balance & it gave me $20 which made me not have enough to pay my rent. Waited til Monday to deposit it back into my account & report the issue in which they shrugged it off. A couple days later I received a letter not only was I overdrawn but I also owed a fee for being overdrawn. I went down to the branch & they explained that someone deposited a check into my account when the bank realized it was erroneously deposited into the wrong account they and the bank that issued the check requested it be extracted from my account. So in essence it was extracted twice making my account go negative. They stated they would correct it but I would need to pay the fee first I told them your CRAZY this whole thing was the banks error and went back/forth w/her on the issue. Finally they said they would take care of that as well. After everything was complete I went to the teller to close my account out. I reported it & they contacted me in regards to what happened & stated, “That would not happen at our bigger branch”. No apology, just they wanted me stay with them & bank at the main/bigger branch. I told them there crazy both banks are related I will NEVER bank here & I will be warning others. In a little over 3-weeks not only did they turn my life upside down but they were reluctant to fix the issue and wanted me to pay fees on their errors. I’d give 0 stars but your not allowed in here to do less than 1. CRAZY experience, DONT bank here. YOU’VE BEEN WARNED.

Unfortunately I have banked here for 8 years too long. I have a credit card dispute purchase that has involved 11 phone calls to the call center and one in person visit. All I've gotten was the run around and can't pay my rent because this greedy company wants to keep my $710.48 for a vacation package through Booking.com that had no reservation. They most certainly do not have their customers best interest. Do business elsewhere.

Golden 1 is ridiculous and so am I for wanting to stay with them. Anyway, I already have a checking and savings account. I tried to open up another checking account, I was denied and told I was in the checks system (lies). I tried to open up a savings account and was told I closed out another account with a negative balance on August 10th (lies). So, in order to clear this all up, I have to go to the branch ( INCONVENIENCE). Really...I've been getting direct deposit there for over 15 years from one of my employers soooo, if I owed anything, it would show up in my active account. The reps couldn't answer that, why go to the branch when I'm always told they have to call Sacramento, or I have to call for complicated issues? When I had fraud, the branch told me I had to call Sacramento. The branch has the same incompetent staffs that told me I could not add beneficiaries at the branch, I had to go online. When I asked the reps in Sacramento, I was told I should've been able to do it in the branch. Good thing I have several accounts elsewhere, this last incident confirmed my real savings needs to go to my other banks and credit unions for safeguarding. Thanks for making it clear G1!!!

Deal with a bigger bank. Lots of hidden fees!

Great, but could be better.

I really like the G1, is far better than BoA, but some fees like overdraft are kind lame, compared to Chime and Yotta

I can't understand why someone would choose to bank here unless it is super convenient. The incompetency level of some of their staff is breathtaking, which Golden One doesn't seem concerned about. I can't recommend this bank.

My auto loan is set to be paid in full this month on February 20, 2023. My balance is less than my payment. Not only will the regular total amount be withdrawn and applied to the less-than balance, but I also could not remove future payments without going into a bank branch and canceling the payments.
Upon going into the branch, I was met with a less-than-competent bank employee. This employee had no idea how to fill out the cancelation document and when to make the document effective. She asked ME! This was not a reassuring experience and I will be closing all Golden One accounts as soon as my car title is received.

I beg all current and future members to read this and steer clear of this abhorrent credit Union !

I am writing once again to request your urgent assistance in resolving my concerns, after an ongoing issue with the Credit Union has left me rather perplexed and distressed given the experience which I have had in my short time as a new member of Golden 1 Credit Union. Please note that at this time I am also urgently requesting your Press contacts (which was denied me by your colleague Ms. Landberg), as I am contacting NBC4 Los Angeles I-Team to aid in this horribly egregious matter’s resolution (and providing them all logged conversations with your staff and the ill-advisements provided me during this ongoing and egregious matter).

Please note that after my initial email to you — requesting assistance and escalation to Credit Union management after multiple notably confusing interactions with customer care staff — that my family members whom reside in New York were contacted without my knowledge to inquire about me and my information. While I can certainly appreciate doing one’s diligence for a new Accountholder, I do believe that this was indeed unnecessary, at which time I amiably worked directly with Ms. Karen Cavallero in Financial Investigations to confirm both the validity of my identity as the accountholder and the check deposit from my father (the check writer).

This Credit Union has abused me and my ability to do banking, and survive, and I am requesting urgent escalation and the Credit Union’s Press contacts. I have been grossly ill-advised by countless members of your staff of my fund availability and this is grossly unacceptable at every level.

Please be advised that my distress at this time stems from the arduous process which I have been placed through these past two days, & with the information provided to me this afternoon by your staff today on a call today (Inbound recorded - 2/1/23) that “once Retail Experience signs off on the check today, all funds would be available — I was further advised at 10:12am by Latrice today that “she had heard good things” regarding the release of my funds. This is utterly appalling mistreatment of a Member, and I most demand urgent resolve. They lied and this never occurred, and they refuse to honor this promise !

Please further be advised that as of 2:43pm today — Thursday, February 2, 2023 — I have been advised from the bank this check was drawn on (Citizen’s Bank) and the check writer my father — that these funds have cleared the external bank. As such, this matter merits urgent and immediate resolve at this level. Be further advised that on several calls today (recorded and logged) with your staff, I was advised that if I email a screenshot of the funds which have already cleared my father’s bank account as verified by Citizen’s Bank, these funds would be released immediately. The Credit Union must be held accountable for the constant misrepresentations of facts and gross negligence exhibited in these calls, and I must demand urgent action and release of these funds. You may further refer to the grievance filed with the California Department of Financial Protection & Innovation, as a result of the gross misinformation provided me and the arbitrary hold of my funds (even with proof of clearance of the external bank account), meriting immediate release of these funds and final resolution.

This matter remains extremely time-emergent and I request urgent contact to resolve this matter favorably and immediately.

They say this is one of the best? I don’t think so. They closed the only one in San Mateo. Now with gas prices up going up. I have to drive 40 minutes to deposit.THIS IS BULLSHITcrap

I have had nothing be great experiences with the branch's and customer service calls I had with them. The drawbacks I have with them is the mobile banking system being very outdated. the website is great but when you get to mobile banking it is very clunky.

Golden One will deny you a loan no matter how long you have been with them or how good your credit is. They are not loyal to their customers. We never once caused them to lose money, we did have a few credit issues a long time ago because of an illness but credit is great now. Being a customer for over 30 years has no bearing. Just unbelievable, do yourself a favor and pick a Credit Union that actually cares about its own customers. Had no problem getting a loan elsewhere.

Their website & apps are not the friendliest to use, but any time I have had an issue, they've been very responsive. Overall, it's one of the better banks/credit unions out there.
