Disgusting service

Disappointed – Product Didn’t Work for Me and Return Process Was Difficult

I wanted to share my personal experience with Gee Hair. The product I received didn’t feel as I expected based on the information online. To me, the hair felt quite coarse and synthetic in texture, but they say it’s not and I do trust that but hair didn’t feel
As good as I’m used to. which wasn’t what I had hoped for. I had spent more than I could comfortably afford, so this was really disappointing.

I then tried to arrange a return, but I found the process difficult to manage. I’ve been dealing with health issues and am mostly bed-bound at the moment, which made everything more complicated. I explained this and asked for some guidance or clarity, but I still struggled to understand exactly how to move forward with the refund. I was willing to have someone return it on my behalf, but I didn’t feel confident about the outcome based on the responses I received.

I’ve used other higher-end brands before, and my experience with them has been easier in comparison. I’ve tried to handle this situation reasonably, but it’s been a stressful process overall.

I’m sharing this purely so others can know what my experience was like with the product and the return process. Based on this experience, I personally wouldn’t purchase again..

Your initial concern wasn’t the texture, but that you felt you didn’t have enough hair and wanted additional pieces sent out to you free of charge. As a small business, we couldn’t offer the extra pieces for free.

To support you, we offered a 25% discount on any additional pieces, which you declined. You later stated your extension was faulty, so we then invited you to return it for inspection and a replacement if a fault was confirmed. We also offered to arrange a collection from your home. Both options were declined, which meant we were unable to investigate or help further.

We’re always here to assist, but we do need the product returned to resolve any concerns. Our offer to inspect the set still stands if you’d like to proceed.

Unfair experience – company keeping both my payment and my item

Terrible customer service. I ordered hair extensions from this company, but the colour I received looked noticeably different from the photos and description online the sample provided doesn’t give an overall colour or thicknesses likeness so the package has to be opened. After sending the item back, they refused both a refund and to return my own hair extensions unless I paid an extra £4.99 postage fee.
They repeating the hygiene argument, but again, that only affects your right to a refund — not your right to have your own property returned without extra cost.
No company can keep your goods and your money as leverage for another payment.
This means they are currently holding both my goods and my payment. Despite several polite attempts to resolve the matter, the company insists this is part of their “policy,” which I believe is unfair.
I’ve now had to escalate the matter to Capital One under Section 75 and Citizens Advice / Trading Standards. I would urge anyone purchasing from this company to read the small print carefully before ordering, as their returns process is not as straightforward as it appears.

Seamless clip-in face framers

I recently took all my extensions out and got my hair cut short to try and get it healthy again. But when going on a night out I felt like my hair was so underwhelming!! Nice Start, Disappointing After First Wash

At first, they seemed perfect - silky, smooth, and good quality when they arrived. However, once I washed them for the first time, the texture completely changed. Even when using filtered water and gentle treatments, the hair became rough and difficult to comb. Unfortunately, it doesn’t stay the same as when it’s new.

With time, the more I combed it, the more hair started to fall out, and the extensions became thinner. Overall, I can’t say I’m happy with the quality it’s quite disappointing, especially considering how nice they seemed at first.

Quite lacklustre customer service

Quite lacklustre customer service. I have ordered many times and it's fine, unless you need to return something.
One of my orders was accidentally refused at the delivery point and I had to chase it. They didn't inform me that it had been returned. It also took over 28 days or 4 weeks to get a refund when they could see from tracking that the item hadn't been delivered.
Another order from the beginning of October has only just been refunded. There are quite a few out of stock items and no free returns or helpful labels which you would expect given the probable sales volume. Please also note that, if you return anything, they will refund the product less the original shipping fee so you will always pay that if you need to return or exchange. If you then add the registered post it will cost you to return the item, it will easily cost you in excess of £20 even if the hair is the wrong colour. For me it was a £23.99 cost in total for one return. Bear this is mind if you aren't sure about the colour. There are also lots of officious messages about not opening the packet.
The hair is nice. It's good quality and arrives quickly if you pay the express postage. Although I am now ordering from somewhere else where the hair is also really good and a slightly better colour for me. Overall the product is good quality but there is no sense of being looked after as a customer.
Update: regarding their answer below. The hair is sent by Royal Mail and so they can see if the package isn't delivered. I could see it on the up to date tracking that it hadn't been delivered and so they can definitely see it.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, and for being a long-standing customer. I’m really glad to hear you’ve been happy with the quality of the hair and our express delivery, and I’m genuinely sorry that your experience with returns and refunds has left you feeling let down.

With refused or undelivered parcels, even when Royal Mail tracking shows an item hasn’t been delivered, it still has to travel back through their returns network before it is scanned back to us and physically received in our warehouse. Because a refused parcel isn’t a “standard” return, it usually takes longer to work its way through Royal Mail’s system and, once it does arrive, it also takes a little longer for us to process than a normal booked return. We can only issue a refund once the parcel is actually back with us, but I agree that a four-week wait feels far too long and I’m sorry you had to chase this. Our standard process is to issue refunds as quickly as possible and always within 14 days of us receiving the return.

In terms of costs, it’s correct that original shipping is non-refundable and that returns are paid by the customer. This is stated before checkout and in our returns policy, but I do understand that once you add tracked postage it can feel expensive if a shade isn’t quite right. That said, for most customers it is still considerably cheaper and less time-consuming than driving to a physical shop to try and find a match. The strict wording about not opening the packet is there purely because of hygiene regulations around human hair extensions – once the seal is broken, the hair can’t legally or safely be resold.

We never want a loyal customer to feel they’re not being looked after. Exceptional quality and easy to use.

From ordering to arrival, the process was seamless and arrived in a quality zipped storage bag. The quality of the hair is excellent and clips very easy to my head. Disclaimer: This a personal true account of my experience with Gee Hair. I have all evidence to support the below.
Dear Gee Hair, Trustpilot contacted me today to confirm that you reported my review below (posted a few months ago) for removal, despite already replying to it? Trustpilot assessed it as non-defamatory, and reinstated it. This outcome reinforces my concerns and echoes the poor reviews you’ve received. Customers rarely go to such lengths unless they feel genuinely mistreated. Why did you try to restrict me from sharing my negative experience? All I needed/was entitled to was a refund for an unsatisfactory product. I followed the CRA process for that resolution.
I obtained a refund via third party and had forgotten about all of this stress but months after the fact you reignite it by trying to invalidate my experience by having it wiped. This is upsetting and unlike any other company I have experienced. You seem determined to resist legitimate refunds, operate outside the Consumer Rights Act, and provide poor service. Trustpilot’s decision to restore my validates this but again it is a third party pulling the weight you should be . You must listen customers when you get reviews that show common issues if you want to improve. Respect statutory rights, improve product quality, and change your approach to customer service. Customers are individuals with different circumstances and some, like me, are vulnerable or facing financial difficulty. Denying valid refunds only deepens distress.
My initial review remains below.
Issues: pre any styling, hair quality unsatisfactory: excessive shedding, matting, and clumping. Emails felt pre-generated, patronising, and accusatory: phrases like “our technical experts will conduct test and investigate for heat damage before you are refunded’. You fought me tooth and nail to avoid refunds ignoring consumer rights act/guarantee. Day of receipt: I contacted you immediately about severe shedding. You replied that all hair “leaves in perfect condition” and advised me to monitor it. Follow-up: You required me to pay for a return so your “technical specialist” could investigate and said if your testing results fail I would not get a refund. Emails were lengthy, full of jargon, and stressful. Photos sent upon request after you committed to resolve issue via email.: Despite evidence, you claimed I missed the 14-day guarantee and refused a refund. Consumer Rights Act: I raised the fault within 14 days, so I was entitled to a refund. As a neurodivergent customer, I explained the stress caused by your emails and lack of faith in your process. Resolution: With help from my advocate, I pursued a chargeback through my credit card company. You declined and rejected this in the first instance however escalation succeeded . I was refunded in full without your cooperation. Help for other customers : ‘Customers are not obliged to return faulty items for “investigation.” Statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act override company website guarantees. I raised the issue within an hour of receipt, you dismissed it as “normal shedding.” And told me to ‘monitor it over time ‘.
Although I eventually got my entitled outcome - it required significant effort and third-party intervention. My advice to others is to avoid this company based on the above.
Gee I am mentally drained and exhausted. I respectfully implore you to leave this laborious and stressful experience here and allow customers their right to review you.
I simply want to move on and restore my faith in the many companies out there that do listen to their customers.

I’m genuinely sorry you’re unhappy, but there are several inaccuracies in your review.

You reported an issue on the day your order arrived. We responded immediately with guidance and then asked you to return the extensions so we could inspect them and provide a replacement if a fault was confirmed. You declined that return and confirmed that you didn’t wish to send them back, had you returned the extensions, we could have provided a replacement, but you opted not to.

Under our 12-month guarantee, if a return is rejected, the product is accepted as supplied. Inspection is required under both our guarantee and UK consumer law for hygiene-sensitive goods such as human hair, as it’s the only way to determine a manufacturing fault.

Around five to six months later, you contacted us requesting a refund. By that point the extensions had been in your possession for several months, so we could no longer verify their condition at delivery or assess any claim of fault. As an alternative, we offered a generous discount on a fresh, hand-picked set with free delivery, which you declined.

We’ve been manufacturing premium human hair for over 12 years and ship thousands of orders worldwide. When a genuine fault is confirmed, we replace immediately, but that process depends on the item being returned.

Very disappointing customer service

Very disappointing customer service. I spent over £130 and was offered free delivery, but as I needed the order urgently I paid £9.99 for next-day delivery. The parcel didn’t arrive the next day—or the day after—and eventually turned up three days late.

When I contacted the company, they refused to refund the delivery fee and simply blamed Royal Mail. Their replies were dismissive and unhelpful. If they’d refunded the delivery cost (especially since free delivery was already an option), I would have kept the product, reordered, and recommended them to others.

A week later I even received an email offering £5 in return for a positive review—unbelievable. If they’d just handled the situation fairly, they would have earned genuine praise instead and kept a customer. The cost of them replying to my emails and taking the order back far exceeded the £10 they should have refunded me.

In those circumstances, the next-day fee isn’t refundable, as the delivery service was fulfilled and the delay wasn’t due to courier or seller error.

DO NOT TOUCH IF YOU WANT THE CORRECT COLOUR

I ordered hair extensions from Gee Hair after using their colour-match service. I trusted their process and spent £165 based on what they recommended. What arrived was a completely different shade — nothing like what was shown or promised.

I sent over three clear photos and even gave them the exact colour code my hairdresser used, yet they still managed to get it totally wrong. I feel completely ripped off. Maybe it’s a quick sale for them, but it’s customers like me left out of pocket.

In the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, £165 is not pocket change. Gee Hair really needs to sort out how they match colours and treat their customers. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

Our matches are based on the photos we receive, and lighting can shift tones. Every order includes a colour swatch (a sample of the extensions) so you can check the shade on arrival before breaking the hygiene seal. If it isn’t right, you can return the sealed set for an exchange or refund.

For health and hygiene reasons, we’re unable to accept returns once the seal is opened. Human hair is a hygiene-sensitive, perishable product: it absorbs odours (e.g. perfume, smoke), retains scalp oils and styling residue, and is worn close to the skin. Once opened, it can’t be re-sanitised and resold safely. This is standard across the professional hair extensions industry and protects all customers.
