Wer glaubt, auf FetLife eine sichere Community zu finden, wird bitter enttäuscht. Die Plattform hat sich zu einem rechtsfreien Raum für Scammer und organisierte Abzocke entwickelt.
1. Gezielte Betrugsmaschen: Die Seite ist überflutet mit Fake-Profilen und Bots, die nur ein Ziel haben: Nutzer in teure Abofallen zu locken oder direkt Geld zu erpressen. Warnungen vor diesen Betrügern werden von den Betreibern ignoriert.
2. Kein Nutzer-Schutz: FetLife schmückt sich damit, eine „Community“ zu sein, aber sobald es um Sicherheit geht, wird man allein gelassen. Es gibt keinen effektiven Support, der gegen gemeldete Scammer vorgeht. Man bekommt das Gefühl, dass diese Profile sogar geduldet werden, solange der Traffic auf der Seite stimmt.
3. Zensur von Warnungen: Es ist extrem auffällig, wie schwer es gemacht wird, andere Mitglieder effektiv vor Betrügern zu warnen. Kritische Stimmen werden oft mundtot gemacht oder in den Algorithmen versteckt, während die „VIP-Abos“ aggressiv beworben werden.
4. Gefährliches Umfeld: Dass eine so große Plattform es zulässt, dass kriminelle Machenschaften (von Fake-Events bis hin zu Identitätsdiebstahl) so offen stattfinden können, ist absolut unverantwortlich.
Fazit: Hände weg von dieser Seite! Es ist kein sicherer Ort für Kinkster, sondern eine Goldgrube für Betrüger, die das Vertrauen der Menschen ausnutzen. Nach meinen Erfahrungen kann ich nur jedem raten: Sucht euch Alternativen, die ihre Mitglieder wirklich schützen.

"please explain why this keeps getting me timeouts" is NOT hateful conduct. They wont explain why because they can't explain what was hateful.

One of them went into my DMs and started harassing people who has messaged and threatened to expose them to their co-workers. DO NOT TRUST FETLIFE

I contacted FetLife caretakers on March 28, 2026 because I had recently been hired to promote private lifestyle events. My account was less than 3 months old, so I asked specifically about the rules for posting events and mentioned the 3-month promotional activity restriction.

The caretaker (Charli) responded with guidance that included this clarification:

“We don't consider posting events to be promotion. We consider promotion to be posting links to OnlyFans, Fansly, content selling etc. Charging a fee to have an event does not fall under this guideline.”

I followed this advice and continued posting events. However, my account has now been locked.

I do not know the exact reason for this lock, as no clear explanation was provided. What makes this especially frustrating is that I was given explicit guidance that posting events (even with a venue fee) was allowed, only to have the account locked shortly afterward.

This kind of inconsistent moderation makes it very difficult for legitimate event organizers to use the platform.

If the “powers that be” on FetLife don’t like your profile, they will close it down for three days and remove or change your things.
This happened to me, so I extended the courtesy by deleting my profile after being on there for four years.

Fetlife has recently rolled out a new “public events” feature that, in my opinion, exposes members of the site to undue increased risk of outing and does so without sufficient information to allow users to exercise informed consent. I consider this dangerous and unethical.

When I spoke out against this and tried to work with other users to mitigate the risks, my account was restricted - my post and activity no longer show in the feeds of my friends or followers.

Fetlife has not followed its own stated policies and procedures in implementing this action. No notice or explanation was given, the duration of my silencing is unknown.

When you follow the rules, but threaten the bottom line through effective safety communication, they take away your voice. If their actions were defensible, they would not need to silence me to sustain them.

Fetlife is a site with fake profiles. You can tell because they will send you messages and they all ask and say the same things. They will ask where you are when if they were actually looking at your profile they would see where you are from. When you tell them where you are from they amazingly tell you they are in same town or one town away. A lot of them just happen to be taking care of their mother who is sick or old. Then they all want you to send them a tribute of $100 or more. When they find out you won't pay tribute they try to get you to rent a dungeon room and pay the deposit to show you are serious. They will tell you that they are well off and have plenty of money yet they won't pay for room themselves. If they don't trust me why should I trust them. I have even beat them to the asking for money by asking for money first they will ghost you then. And the same profiles will be deleted days later as fakes. Imagine that. I sent fet life $100 for a contract when I told them I was not satisfied with what they were trying to sell me they refused to send money back the same way I sent it to them instead they said they would give me gift cards. I agreed figuring that I would a least get something back they sent me 2 pictures of scratched apple cards with the same numbers. I complained and they sent picture of different card. I immediately tried to sell them to card cash and they cancelled their offer due to the cards had already been used. Fet life is trying to say that I sent cards to lots of people and they used it and said they didn't. They accused me of sending the cards to a disreputable company but that company has a high approval rating by trust pilot Fet life has a n embarrassingly low score. They are smart allecs and won't take responsibility for their shifty practices and try to shift blame back onto customer.. They have to know the profiles are fake. Anyone after being on the site for a day or two can see that it is full of fake profiles or they are scammers and if they can't see it or acknowledge it then they either encourage it or just don't care. Don't waste your time with them in fact report them to FTC , HOMELAND SECURITY, SECRETARY OF STATE,IRS, AND any other govt agency and let's see if they won't get fined for their business practices

If you pay for nude pictures/videos of some woman online, you are only paying to relieve yourself to porn. So what's porn doing in a site that supposed to be about establishing a connection through kinks?
Finally we get the biggest offender of them all: Events.
If you are a man, with no pre established connection, be ready to pay 100 bucks minimum to go to events that will waste your time. If they happen at all. The consistent ones are always miles away in some expensive city that charges you to breathe, are so exclusionary that them posting about it is a waste of time for newbies if they found their audience 20 events ago.
Oh and the site has a premium version that charges you an extra 30 bucks for 6 months to watch shitty homemade videos

I go into FetLife realizing I make the most of it, and cultivate my connections. I'm responsible for how I am received and fine tune according to that. I have met many interesting people with a wide variety of sexual proclivities, fetishes and kinks, and that's precisely why I joined. Its has been great for me.
While the interface and functionality are not state of the art, there are enough variables and methods to communicate effectively.

Oh boy, where do I start?

Firstly, in my notifications I received three times in a row today, three of my comments were removed for excessive promotion. I'd like to point out they were COMMENTS, with no links posted nor promoting ANYTHING. When I emailed them about it, they got back to me quick saying commenting 10+ times is considered "excessive promotion". You go into their rules, it mentions NOTHING about comments.

Then you get mods who don't care about their groups, with Live_Free_Or_Die being one. I wanted to take over his small boob group, but couldn't as apparently he has been active within three months. When editing my profile, it asks for a separate web link (as if it were a social network), with no exceptions. Of course, I didn't know certain websites weren't allowed. I added one, and they immediately blocked me and deleted my account without giving me a chance to do it properly or explain the situation. I tried contacting support, but nothing. It's terrible!

Another website destroyed by an extremely aggressive moderation team. They seem to think of the members of the site as the enemy. The user experience there has been declining for years for a reason and there's nothing they can do about it but make it worse and worse. Good riddance.
