Several Years in; Very Messy
I've been using the Opus Grinder V2 for a couple years now and the grind is good and I like the control of the grind, but the canister situation is really not good. Makes me not want to use it. There is forever grinds falling out and then its all scratchy when I put the canister back in and the grinds get shoved up at the back and then I use my vacuum to clean up all the grinds in and around the machine once it annoys me too much. I thought there was supposed to be some technology in here to reduce the static and help that issue but not that I can see. Also using that little grind cup for then flipping into your portafilter is not as easy as it looks and is usually messy, stick with a more typical chute style grinder for your espressos.
Carter mug no longer holds heat.
Carter mug no longer holds heat.
After 4 years the mug doesn't hold heat, coffee after a couple of hours is lukewarm. Some might say 4 years is fine, however for a "premium" product that prides itself on being a thermal mug, I would say this is disappointing and.
I approached Fellow to let them know, as I wanted to know if this is expected - note, I have taken good care of it, never dish washed and only ever had coffee in it. They said that because the 1 year warranty had expired there was "nothing they could do" - how unfortunate. They are basically saying that this is expected, so be prepared to buy a new mug every 3-4 years when it no longer holds heat. Not very economical or environmentally friendly, also speaks volumes about how they feel about the quality of their products.
Will be moving to a different brand like Hydro Flask, who's products tend to last a lot longer.
I wanted to love the Aiden Fellow
I wanted to love the Aiden Fellow. When it works, it makes great coffee. Unfortunately, reliability has been a disaster.
I paid $400 for this machine. The first unit failed within two months due to water system issues. Since then, I’ve had multiple replacements, and now the latest unit has stopped heating / won’t complete a brew cycle.
What’s even more frustrating than the hardware failures is the support experience. Instead of acknowledging a pattern of defects, support repeatedly pushed troubleshooting steps and implied user error. After several failed units, it’s hard to believe this is a “me” problem.
At this price point, I expect durability and accountability. I cannot recommend this product. When it works, it’s excellent — but the failure rate and support response make it impossible to justify.
Pretty but bad quality, no costumer service
I get the feeling that the products are only made to be pretty. The quality isn’t good, we had problems with the same model 3 times and the last issue was a safety issue and we didn’t got a refund or a replacement because the warranty was over for a few weeks. Which looks like they build a product with the knowledge it will break a bit after the warranty time (Amazon just agreed with that). It’s a shame.
Looks good - poor quality and service.
I have both the kettle and the coffee maker and both have been problematic. The lid handle on the kettle broke off within 3 months and the on/off button is temperamental sometimes needing to be pushed 4 or 5 times before turning on.
The coffee maker stopped working (asking for more water when it is full). They made me go through a lengthy on-line process and send videos just to tell me to take it back to the store where I bought it. The service is non-existent. I will never purchase another fellow product again.
Truly awful customer service
Truly awful customer service. They lost my Stagg Kettle in the mail and it took exactly 1 month to get a replacement. Then, the replacement promptly stopped working after a single use. Their customer service team is ONLY available by email and takes 3 days between every message. Genuinely one of the most frustrating experiences with a product in my life.
Bad quality
I have now owned three EKG Electric kettles, and all three have ended up with exactly the same problem.
After approximately 1.5–2 years of use, the thermometer starts behaving erratically. For example, when I set the kettle to 95 degrees, the temperature begins — during the heating process — to jump violently back and forth by 5, 10, 15, and even up to 20 degrees at a time, eventually reaching a full boil at 100 degrees, even though the temperature is set to 95 degrees.
Each time, I have been told that the issue had been resolved and that it would not happen again. However, this is now the third time I am experiencing exactly the same fault. The first time, I received a replacement kettle free of charge.
I must therefore conclude that this is a recurring quality or design flaw that has not yet been genuinely resolved. On that basis, I cannot and will not recommend this kettle. In my view, it is below standard — and unacceptable — that a product in this price range continues to have such repeated and unresolved issues.
I purchased first generation Ode…
I purchased first generation Ode grinder and had no problems until recently where I found a significant amount of retention in the grinding chamber. After some back and forth with a Fellow rep I was told that it was the beans or I was grinding too much. 25 grams of coffee doesn't feel like too much grinding in a day and the fact that they kept making ridiculous excuses really bothers me. I'm just told that the product is no longer under warranty and there is nothing to be done. For the money spent I feel that Fellow could offer more assistance. I'm certain that my new grinder will not be a Fellow product.
Very negative experience
Very negative experience.
After less than a year of use the handle of my Stagg kettle was loose and the top was cracked. For $200 this is actual highway robbery and the individual I spoke with wouldn't cover it under warranty.
Grinder dies after two years, useless customer service
I bought an Ode grinder in May 2022. Two years later, it started shaking uncontrollably towards the end of the grinding process, and the grind it produced looked like it came straight out of a wood chipper.
Customer service was useless, commenting on a photo of the grind on the finest setting that “oh yeah that looks right” and in the same email “it looks coarse”. Yes, it looks coarse because it’s not working anymore.
After the agent acknowledged that there was a problem indeed, I was told nothing could be done. The ridiculousness of the exchange culminated in the agent advising me to “mist my beans” before I grind them.
When I pointed out that it is unacceptable for a product that price to last such a short time without the option to repair, buy a spare part or even get a discount to replace the product, I was offered a 15% discount (like 15% is supposed to change my mind about buying from them again).
Needless to say, the discount will never be used, I will never purchase from this company again and I would advise you to find a more reputable brand to buy from as well.
I have had multiple fellow products and…
I have had multiple fellow products and I love them all. I purchased their programmed drip coffee pot and when I had an issue with it to flush the water customer service was outstanding. Not only did they guide me how to clean the machine but when I had some trouble understanding the process they sent me out a new machine without my even asking… and lo and behold I had flushed my original machine and it was just perfect… so I sent the replacement back! I own 2 of their coffee makers , one at home and one at work and they are truly FANTASTIC as is their customer service
Horrible Customer Service - Not accurate Shipping Dates
I was not going to leave a review because I didn't receive the kettle...but since Fellow is so adamant and keeps asking me to leave one, here is it.
I ordered this 1 month before Mother's Day, I know it can take a few weeks but figured I would be OK. I followed up when it had been longer and got this, "A number of shipments, including yours, were unfortunately held up at customs. The good news is that your package was just released yesterday, and tracking should update within the next 48–72 hours." they also said, "o make up for the experience, I’d also love to offer you a $30 credit through Fellow Drops."
No one drinks coffee so I ignored the email since things happen...days pass and still not movement on my kettle.
I asked for a credit of $30 at this point for something I can use. I figured I can get a nice mug for my mum to go with the kettle. They offered a % off the mug which was a $9 savings but then I still end up out $42.95 because then you also have an additional $6 in shipping costs...so essentially, I will be giving Fellow more money....as a thank you for ruining MY order.
The more I think about it, it's shameful. They missed the mark on getting me the Mother's Day gift in time, but instead of being proactive I had to reach out for an update, and then the apology 'offer' provided is to get me to spend more. This is not the customer service I have come to know from Fellow. This is the 3rd kettle ordered since they came on the scene. I got the first one before getting married and then ordered 2 more for gifts for other friends and family. This one for my mum was my 4th kettle.
I never understand how companies apologize by asking you to spend more. How about giving a partial refund on the on the actual product you goofed on, or chucking in a freebie? Instead, I get a discount on a future item...the only winner then is Fellow not ME. How does that make ME feel any better?
Needless to say, I asked to cancel, was informed I would need to pay $15 for return shipping since it has shipped. Clearly that was not going to happen, luckily, they provided the return label, when it FINALLY arrived, I slapped it on and sent it back unopened.
In the end I saved $$$ and got my mum a similar kettle off Amazon and she's just as happy.
Super messy, high retention, nothing like advertised
I’ve purchased the Fellow Opus grinder and had been using it for couple of months. To start, the quality of the grind is really nice, there is a wide grind range and the particles of coffee are more or less the exact same size every time. However, Fellow advertised this product with :
“Magnetic catch cup, Low grind retention”
“Opus’s direct drop-down design from load bin to catch radically reduces grind retention, while the anti-static technology and spouted catch eradicate mess.”
"Anti-Static Technology - Keeps your countertop (and morning) mess free."
The grind retention is significant, around 0.2-0.5 g when grinding 18g of coffee. You have to smack the grinder an turn it off and on a couple of times to get the coffee off. Not a pleasant experience. The grinder is messy as hell, there is static everywhere unless you clean it after every couple of uses. I clear mine at least three times per week, as if I don’t, my entire kitchen is covered with static. Completely contradictory to what was advertised. I have contacted their support about it and they basically said that this is expected LOL, and advised me to clean the grinder often, tap the lid of the grinder and wet the beans(which does not help much). They allegedly cant refund me the money as the product was purchased on Amazon. The grind quality is the only advantage this grinder has, but if you care about your kitchen being clean and don’t want to wipe the grinder every single dat, better stick to Wilfa or Bartaza, as Fellow sucks.
SCAMERS Do not buy any products from them they…
Do not buy any products from them they are scammers i bought a machine off them in december its now february i didnt like the coffee machine it has no good features so i returned the items back to them and they provided me return labels i shipped it back out to them and they told me it would take 3-5 business days to get refunded im like alright thats normal than they told me they got wait for there warehouse to check it out and to give them till end the day so i waited for a response back i emailed them next day and they didnt respond to me at all now its been a 3 months and i still havent received my money back do not buy from them go on amazon and buy a coffee machine even temu has better quality machines with feautures on em and for half the money and funniest part is temu has better customer service than them they been ignoring me completely ima be making a fcc and bcc report on this company needs to shut down SCAMMERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

How can i give 0 stars i got there coffee machine and grinder $528 for one of the worst machines i ever owner it has 0 good features and worst off all is returned the items back to them they told me they gonna process me the refund its bout to be 2 months now they havent processed anything saying we have to look for the items how is that my fault i did my part and sent it back to them with the return shipping labels they provided i am disgusted by this companies actions and i will be reporting them to BBC my hard earned money gone just like that to this company needs to get shutdown and i will do everything in my power to bring it down by getting new customers aware of there scamm horrible scheme they got going on STAYYY FARR AWAYY FROM THEMM A TEMU COFFEE MACHINE IS BETTER THAN THERES
Dont spend your money here
Dont spend your money here. They look nice but as many have said, quality is awful. They sent me three replacements and ALL of them rusted inside after a week or so. Not well made and not safe! They also wont refund me because I purchased it at another retailer. However they just kept sending me replacements, wasting time and ultimately making it so I cant return it.
Mixed bag mostly poor
I have several Fellow products and my experience has been mixed hence 2 stars. I love the design and ease of use of their products. My problems have to do with quality.
Fellow tally, I am on my second one, the first would not charge after the second charge. The second is rapidly requiring more frequent charges and I do not see it lasting much longer.
Fellow Stagg kettle, after a couple of years it has become extremely erratic more often than not it will not start heating and just displays the hold temp. Re booting usually fixes it but it is annoying.
Fellow vacuum canister, poor design as when the beans continue to degass it looses vacuum and then is not sealed.
The good news is my Fellow Ode gen 2 continues to work and I am very happy with it. This is the reason for two stars otherwise would be 1.
Fellow Opus conical burr coffee grinder
This is a review on the Fellow Opus coffee grinder.
I purchased this coffee grinder from Williams-Sonoma for the current list price of $195.00 US. It came well packaged in eco-friendly card board box with a form fitted paper machete egg crate inner liner. The overall packaging was very sturdy.
The grinder came completely assembled the only thing I needed to do was change out the dosing cup to accommodate the batch brew lid.
After several weeks of use and dailing in my grind here is my review. I grind beans for either automatic drip or pour over. Forty five years ago I started to grind fresh roasted coffee. I started with a Krups blade grinder and had relatively good results. Thirty five years of using that grinder I upped my game to a Bodum Bistro conical burr grinder and have been using this for the past 10 years with great results.
Again I wanted to up my game and decided to purchase a Fellow Opus...this is where i made huge mistake!!
Is it stylish...YES!
Is it quieter than the Bodum... YES!
This grinder features 41 grind settings and a 100 gram bean hopper which is easily removed for cleaning and also reveals the 12 position fine tuning micro grind adjustment dial 6 coarse and 6 fine positions. This adjustment dial is meant for fine tuning your espresso grind to get the perfect shot of espresso. This feature is something I do not have a use for at this time as I do not grind for espresso. Removing the bean hopper also reveals the conical burr set. The lid for the hopper has a basic set of suggested grind settings and is also divided into an approximate 20 or 40 gram whole bean dose portion.
This grinder features a magnetic dosing cup which automatically aligns with the grind chamber discharge shoot. An insert for the dosing cup is provided to make the transfer of grinds into a 54 or 58mm espresso portafilter much easy and neater.
Unfortunately that is where it all comes to an end.
IMHO this coffee grinder was a total waste of $195.00.
It does not grind any better or with any more grind consistency than the Bodum.
All coffee grinders have static and retention issues but, RDT will corrected 99% but not on the Opus, static and retention are horrendous.
And the Opus is supposed to have an ionizer built in to eliminate this issue. I don't know what the cause is for these issues, with the way it is engineered and built it shouldn't have these issues. A nice burr set and a straight through grind chamber should lend itself to low static and retention but for some reason it doesn't. With the retention and the static this leads to a big mess once you remove the dosing cup.
It is for these reasons I gave the Fellow Opus conical burr coffee grinder a two star rating and I can not recommend this product.
The Fellow Opus was supposed to be a low cost do it all grinder that is superior to everything in its price point unfortunately it is anything but that. The Bodum Bistro conical burr grinder which is one third the price will outperform the Opus.
So sorry I am so short and to the point with this review but I honestly feel like I was scammed by video bloggers on YouTube, who received a free grinder in exchange for a good review, my experience was far from good.
If you are looking for a coffee burr grinder my current recommendations would be a Capresso infinity. Or you can up the game to the next level with a Solis Scala Zero or a Turin SD40V2
In all honesty I would stay clear of the Fellow Opus, it is just not worth the effort, the mess and the cost.
UPDATE; 3/13/2025
After several back and forth emails between myself and Fellow this coffee grinder was sent back and a new one was issued under warranty. I have only limited use as of this update and will report back on the performance of the replacement grinder. I have upped the star rating from a 2 to 3 stars just for their Customer service.
UPDATE: 3/28/2025
After several more weeks of use it has become obvious that there was something definitely wrong with the original Opus grinder because the replacement has become a delight to use. Quiet operation, consistent grind quality, minimal static and retention and awesome customer service has caused me to up the star rating to 5 stars.
This Fellow Opus conical burr coffee grinder comes highly recommend and so does the company as a whole.
Terrible Customer Support for a Premium Product
I expected better from a company like Fellow, but their customer service has been a complete disappointment. My Ode grinder, which was gifted to me, emits an annoying DC hum—not something you’d expect from a high-end product. When I reached out, hoping they’d stand behind their craftsmanship, I got excuses instead of solutions.
Because the grinder wasn’t bought directly from Fellow or within the U.S., they refused to offer a repair, replacement, or inspection. They even called the noise “normal,” despite it clearly not being present in all units. Their grand solution? A measly 10% discount on my next purchase. Why would I ever buy another Fellow product after this?
Fellow’s unwillingness to take responsibility as the manufacturer, even for a gifted product, is unacceptable. If you’re considering their products, know that if anything goes wrong, you may be on your own. For a brand that charges premium prices, their support is shockingly bad.
customer service horrid.
I received a Fellow kettle as a gift. The surface flaked badly. I sent a note to customer service and provided both serial number and photos. Customer service said they could not help since I did not have proof of purchase. Serious fail.
