Extremely Disappointed – Avoid This Garage

I took my car to Vauxhall Eden Reading to investigate and potentially fix a few issues, but I left completely dissatisfied. I asked them to look into three specific concerns I had with the car, and they wanted £150 per issue just for a diagnostic test—a total of £450 just to tell me what’s wrong, before even discussing any repair costs. I’ve never experienced such pricing in any other garage.

To put this into perspective, one of the three issues was simply a tyre that was slowly losing air pressure. They still wanted £150 just to check that—money that could’ve easily gone towards a brand-new tyre!

What really frustrated me is that none of this was mentioned during the booking process. Only when I arrived there did they inform me of the charges and ask me to sign off on them. It felt misleading and unfair.

Even though they charge such high prices just to diagnose the issues you ask them to check, they still carried out a complimentary “vehicle health check” (which I didn’t request), conveniently identifying seven additional faults with a total estimated repair cost of over £2,500! (extremely overpriced everything)—for a car that passed its MOT test on the first attempt just five months ago and has only done 2,000 miles since. Some of the findings I genuinely doubt, such as a supposedly leaking coolant pump, which I’ve closely monitored since, and there’s absolutely no sign of a leak.

Also, don’t expect anything to be fixed on the same day. I booked the appointment more than a week in advance, dropped the car off at 8am when they opened, and didn’t hear back until 4pm with the diagnostic results. Any repair work would have required either leaving the car overnight or booking another appointment.

To anyone reading this: save yourself the stress, time, and money—AVOID THIS PLACE. I deeply regret going there and will absolutely not return.

Amazing, super friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff.

It was time to change my car leased on the Motability scheme. My son suggested we check out the Vauxhall Grandland as this is a large car that would meet our need.
My first point of contact was Scott. Scott arranged a convenient time for myself and my family to test drive the car.
During our visit, Scott explained pretty well everything about the car, there wasn’t one question he couldn’t answer. He then accompanied us on the test drive, again talking us through the functions of the car.
Back in the showroom we decided to buy the car. We had seen three other vehicles from other manufacturers and before our visit and meeting with Scott I had actually decided on another vehicle but changed my mind!
The paperwork was signed and then it was a waiting game for changeover day.
Between signing the paperwork and collecting the car, Scott called me four times to give progress updates, great service…
Collection day, on our way to the showroom to collect our new car, I received a call from Brian, he informed me Scott had called in sick so wouldn’t be there to manage the handover, again great customer service.
Handover was handled by Ryan. Ryan informed me that he may take a bit longer than if Scott was doing it as this was his first Motability sale. Ryan apologised for duplicating some of the things Scott had gone through with us, he explained that he wanted to ensure everything was done right..
Ryan was a super friendly young man, he went out of his way to ensure we were looked after and happy with our new car.
I have to be honest, this was by far the best Motability purchase I have ever had…
Well done to everyone at Eden Vauxhall Exeter, thanks for being both professional and friendly.

Mark and Jonny both helped me. Mark took time to listen and explained buying a new car process.
Jonny was understanding and made a difficult situation with our old car easier.

Luke and Ben were excellent. They listened to our requirements for a used car. They were both helpful, knowledgeable, and pleasant to deal with. We are hoping the after sales service will be as good.

There was an urgency for me to get an…

There was an urgency for me to get an automatic car because of the situation with my foot that is deteriorating. In particular David Steele was instrumental in getting my situation resolved. He went above and beyond what is expected of him. I can’t praise David enough for his professional approach, dedication and overall helpfulness.

Excellent customer service

Although they were not expecting me, due to a clerical error, they did everything to accommodate me.
The reception was very helpful and efficient. The service was excellent and completed in good time.
Everything was handled very effectively with the leasing company without any need for me to be involved.
Overall, they are to be highly recommended.

The worse experience of buying a car from Eden

When I brought the car I went to London two days later . While I was travelling to London I had to put air in the tyres as the warning light came on. The car was booked in with Eden a week later. They found that the tyre was unrepairable . The manager said it was not down to them smirking as he said this. I had no choice but to purchase a new tyre on a car I had brought on 23/05/2025. On the check list the two front tyres were highlighted as amber which I had asked to be changed on the day I picked up the car. After it was repaired I had to return it as the radio didn’t work . I returned home and noticed that a light on the dash board had come on . I returned the car back to Eden where they said a new battery was required and that they would order one. I went to pick my daughter up and the car wouldn’t start. I phoned Eden and they said that they don’t recover the car I then phoned the AA and they informed me that the car was a lease car which I wasn’t told at the time of purchase. The following day Eden came out to the car and got it started and took back to the garage and fitted a new battery.During the sale of my car on 23/05/2025 I was told to click the satisfaction button as the director didn’t like bad comments. Also at the same time I was told that the car would do about 47 MPG. I have filled up four times and the average is 29 MPG. As I am a pensioner this is not good for my finances. The experience I have had with Eden the worse I have had in my years of driving. I look forward to a director contacting me .

Placed a £500 deposit on a new Peugeot…

Placed a £500 deposit on a new Peugeot approximately 6 weeks ago. This week I found out that they were unable to supply the car in the agreed colour. Communication is always one way, I continually have to chase them, and they consistently fail to respond to emails. Only when you copy in the CEO does the response change. They did their best to keep my business for obvious reasons, but never really had my best interests at heart.
Managed to find the exact car I was looking for elsewhere, something Eden were unable to do for me as a Peugeot main dealer! Unfortunately I have had to pay a £300 broker fee as a result of Eden letting me down.
