Arranged insurance through external provider so ECH put a freeze of €1,000 on my card. Early on in the journey the tyre burst. ECH did not provide the wheel nut remover so we couldn’t change the tyre ourself. After several hours we were picked up and taken back to the airport (Pisa). Ech staff insisted they needed to take the €1,000 again and that once damages were determined we would be refunded the difference.

Damages came to €755 (including roadside pick up and taxi back to airport which we wouldn’t have incurred if we had the correct tools to change the tyre ourselves) and instead of refunding me €245 from the €1,000 they froze, ech charged me €1,000 and then an additional €755 so €1,755 in total.

I explained their error multiple times and they were patronising and said I didn’t understand how the process worked. Only after sending them my credit card statement showing the 2 transactions did they admit their mistake and said they would refund.

Almost 2 weeks after they admitted their error I asked where the refund was and they said it had been paid. I informed them that it hadn’t. They said the matter was closed. I had to continue chasing them every single day until they admitted the payment was “rejected” by my bank (my bank confirmed there was no history of the payment ever being made).

After almost 2 months I finally got my refund.

Terrible customer service, terrible finance team and staff lacking any interpersonal skills.

Watch out for any attempts for staff trying to charge your card twice. They clearly don’t know what they’re doing.

L'auto ritirata all'aeroporto di Pisa corrispondeva a quella prenotata, nuova e pulita. Servizio cortese e celere. L'addetto è stato molto scrupoloso nei controlli sia al ritiro che alla consegna. Io non ho avuto alcun problema.

Bad experience with ECH

advance for both cars, but upon pickup we were required to purchase additional insurance due to using a debit card, and we ended up paying far more than expected.

One of the cars had a faulty tailgate, which I reported the same day. I have both video evidence and documentation of my calls, but VIP Cars still rejected my complaint.

The second car, from ECH, was returned with a report listing three damages that we did not recognize. We asked to inspect the car again, but were not allowed to. VIP Cars/ECH have not provided any evidence that the damages were actually present at the time of return.

It took over a month to receive any clear answers, and after all this, the case was rejected without any refund.

Be very careful with insurance, extra charges, and make sure to document the car thoroughly both at pickup and drop-off.

Good rental in Pisa. Friendly staff.

Awful experience. Car delivered with underinflated tires (a real safety risk) and no parking disc, despite our requests for clarification. Charged the maximum "after-hours" fee (€100 instead of the minimum €60) even though we picked up the car well before closing.
Worst part: nearly €300 in extra charges for "additional driver" and "unauthorized driving penalty" because my husband drove the last part to the station while I felt unwell. No damage, no incident. Yet they charged the full period second-driver rate plus a penalty.
I've sent a formal complaint with photo evidence. If unresolved, I'll escalate to the European Consumer Centre and dispute the charges with my bank. Would not recommend.

Des voleurs à fuir! On arrive à l'aéroport de Catane, première déconvenue : il est indiqué que votre de crédit doit être valable 3 mois après la restitution de véhicule, ce qui n'était pas notre cas. Du coup il faut payer l'assurance Collision Damage Waiver pour 2 semaines : 617,80€... (pour information le cout initiale était de 550€) impossible de négocier quoi que ce soit, sinon pas de véhicule, nous payons donc avec ma carte de crédit (la même qui a servit pour le règlement de la location) et la le problème que ma carte ai moins de 3 mois de restitution n'existe plus... Vient le moment pour récupérer la voiture : voiture abimée de partout, poignées de 2 portes latérales repeintes au tipex... pneu avant lisse, voyant moteur alumé au orange, date d'assurance du véhicule expiré le jour de la location. La réponse du loueur à toutes ces questions : va bene, pas de problème... A fuir

**Esperienza molto negativa: costi aggiuntivi, informazioni poco chiare e pessima assistenza**

Abbiamo prenotato un'auto tramite CarJet e, una volta arrivati a Verona, ci siamo ritrovati a dover gestire il noleggio con ECH, che si è occupata della consegna del veicolo.
Il problema principale è sorto al momento del ritiro: ci è stato comunicato che, avendo una carta di debito Mastercard anziché una carta di credito, avremmo dovuto sottoscrivere obbligatoriamente un'ulteriore assicurazione dal costo di oltre 200 €. Questa condizione, a nostro avviso, non era affatto chiara nelle condizioni che ci erano state comunicate al momento della prenotazione, dove era indicato semplicemente che era necessaria “una carta di credito, Visa o Mastercard, nominativa del guidatore principale”. Inoltre, una parte del pagamento della prenotazione era già stata effettuata con la stessa carta di debito, senza che ci fosse stata alcuna contestazione o segnalazione del problema (e con la quale abbiamo pagato altri noleggi auto senza mai avere problemi).
Ci siamo quindi trovati, una volta arrivati sul posto e senza reali alternative, a dover sostenere un costo aggiuntivo di oltre 200 € per poter ritirare l'auto.
A peggiorare ulteriormente l'esperienza è stato il comportamento dell'impiegata allo sportello, che abbiamo trovato particolarmente scortese e poco professionale. Durante la nostra attesa ha avuto discussioni con diversi altri clienti presenti, creando un clima davvero spiacevole.
Inoltre, abbiamo dovuto aspettare circa un'ora (sotto il sole del pomeriggio) per la consegna dell'auto, nonostante avessimo una prenotazione, e il veicolo consegnato non corrispondeva al modello da noi richiesto/prenotato.
Nel complesso, un'esperienza molto deludente: costi aggiuntivi comunicati solo al momento del ritiro, attesa eccessiva, auto diversa da quella richiesta e soprattutto un'assistenza al cliente che abbiamo trovato decisamente inadeguata.

Thank you! I was very happy with my car (the Toyota Aygo is perfect for the narrow streets at Lake Garada). It was new and in perfect condition. The service (thank you Camila) at ECH is very friendly. After my arrival I had some struggles to find the pickup, but after I gave them a call, they picked me up after 5-10 minutes.

It was a good car rental service. They find us a car without booking in advance. It was very helpful. I recommend!

Noleggiato un'auto media da loro x 2 giorni, tramite DiscoverCars. Pagato l'auto online 85,49 euro.
Sul contratto dovevo ritirare l'auto alle 10,30 al max entro le 12,29, altrimenti avrei dovuto avvisare. L'aereo ha tardato 3,5 ore. Alle 9,30 ho avvisato del ritardo. Alle 13,30 mi sono presentato per ritirare l'auto, ma non c'era più, l'avevano data via.
Sostengono che nel contratto (alla pagina xyz e scritto in piccolo) è indicato il NO SHOWE e quindi ho perso il contratto, nonostante avessi avvisato telefonicamente e per tempo.
Non c'erano altre auto del segmento da me richiesto e quindi (trovandosi questo noleggio a circa 15 minuti dall'aeroporto di Palermo e non essendoci altri noleggio nei paraggi) ho dovuto noleggiare un'auto di segmento superiore e pagare altri 85 euro.
Adesso sostengono (FALSAMENTE) che sono io che ho voluto fare l'upgrade, non loro che hanno ignorato la mia telefonata e che hanno dato via l'auto da me prenotata.
La logica e un po' di onestà mi dicono che se io prenoto e pago l'auto per 2 giorni, per assurdo posso ritirarla anche il giorno dopo. Comunque non è finita ho già iniziato (questione di puntiglio) ad informare il mio avvocato e poi vedremo....
Un'ultima cosa, fate molta ATTENZIONE, sono molto pignoli, fotografate tutto e segnalate il minimo graffio.
