I’d arranged for collection in advance, on the day they were meant to be collected I was told I had to wait another week for collection.
The lady on the phone could not have been less bothered. Don’t trust, have cancelled completely.

We approached Capital Door Stripping to strip five internal doors. Initially communication was great, responsive and gave us all the information we needed. They said they could turn around the doors in a week.

Now nearly a month later, after incredibly poor communication and being ghosted for a couple of weeks, our doors have been returned. Only one of them is in good condition and we were almost held at ransom to pay, otherwise the delivery driver wouldn’t leave.

No communication as to the quality of the doors before hand, and I’ve just spent some time actually taking some paint of myself.

The staff we have interacted with don’t speak good English, which has made this process even harder than it needs to be.

Please spend your money elsewhere, we’re devastated as this was our first big investment after purchasing our first home last year.

Glad I reviewed this before they collected our doors...we booked them two weeks ago to strip four internal doors, for collection today. We got a text yesterday confirming a slot between 0700-0900, no one turned up or called, I called them, to be told they would arrive at 8pm? No apology and pretty underwhelming response. I didn't feel assured at all about service moving forward. Then read these reviews...bullet dodged! Customer engagement 101...manage expectations and communicate clearly if you want better reviews.

4 shutters needed stripping. Came 2 weeks late to collect then 2 months late for delivery, to top it off the stripping was so bad there were pieces of paint left on everywhere and had left wood damaged badly

All the paint was off and we were able to start painting the doors again after many years of repainting.

I hade a good experience with this company and they asked me to leave a review.
The manager complained that only people that are not happy leave them reviews.
My doors look good the price was Ok and they came back in good timing.

Do not send any of your item to this company! Avoid at all cost. I sent them my very expensive fireplace to be stripped and sanded in which I was quoted a price. They collected it on the Saturday and explained it will be back within a week. After multiple emails and phone calls asking where my fireplace is it returned after 3 weeks. Upon return the delivery driver made very unprofessional comments about the company that he works for stating that they didn’t do a good job and that we should have sent this elsewhere. Comments that made us question the state of our fireplace. Once inspecting It this was extremely damaged and unfinished missing details on the pillars, varnish dripped on the pillar not sanded. After contacting them to explain how the fireplace got damaged and why wasn’t we told that it has been broken and why wasn’t it sanded down as requested the extremely rude manager who would just constantly talk over you agreed that this was unfinished and it was damaged also that they should have contacted us to explain that certain parts had been damaged but she would send someone out to collect it and get it sanded. The day after they sent another email stating that we would require to pay even more for this job to be completed as they originally didn’t charge us for sanded? However the manager on the 45 minute telephone call the day before stated that we wouldn’t have to pay as we had already been charged. Our beautiful fireplace has been destroyed

There reply to this review is just rubbish. I have the original email stating that they quoted me for stripping and sanding. Which I’m happy to share. It’s just another reply which proves all the bad ones right. They are a company that can’t own up to their mistakes. The fact this company has multiple bad reviews that are very similar says it all. Please believe I wouldn’t want anything for free from your company

My Victorian doors look great after the stripping and the service was good by this company

They were supposed to pick them up on Weds, but cancelled and came on Friday. Not a huge problem. They advertised a week turnaround, so when we hadn't heard anything by the following Friday we contacted them, and they said they'd be ready by Monday. Still hadn't heard so contacted again, and they said they'd be ready Friday. On Thursday they contacted us to ask if we wanted to pay extra to take off another layer manually that didn't come off through their process. We declined as we were going to paint anyway. So doors are all done, and had been told they'd be delivered Friday, but there was no communication. So contacted them on Monday and they said it would be Friday (a whole week when we knew the doors were finished). Friday came, and they cancelled the delivery on the day. Now Wednesday, contacted and they've said Friday... We will see and I will update my review accordingly.

Update: cancelled delivery today because of 'technical issue' AVOID THIS COMPANY!!

Update2: delivery driver finally came today (the following Friday) - however our doors weren't actually in his van.... Company is a joke

My doors came back clean of paint and sanded as promised. It took 3 weeks they tried to deliver on the second week but the timing was not suitable. Communication was great we got a 2 hours collection slot and they came in the time given.All together it was a great experience and my doors look good.

We had our Victorian doors stripped by this company and the service and the doors look great.We thought that one of the doors was not ours but after speaking with them it turns out that we made a mistake.
This was a second batch of doors they did for us and everything was OK.The service took 2 weeks but this was not a problem as we have lots of building work going in the house anyway.

Had a pine door stripped of heavy layers of 1970s style orange varnish, and then waxed. Really pleased with the result - gave it an extra wax coat and it looks great, matching the other kitchen door.
Opted for this company because they covered all parts of London and offered a door removal service (I hadn't a clue how to do that bit!). The website suggests that it would all take one week - I thought that this would be unrealistic and I wasn't in a hurry anyway. Door was returned (with one day's notice) after 6 weeks.
All the previous reviews cite poor communication from this company - the door was collected in an unmarked van, no receipt given. Would have expected some communication when they received the item and an estimate as to how long it would take - surely all items would vary. This would have alleviated weeks of uncertainty and concern. Collection and delivery were both on a Saturday - is that the usual day? Then inform the customer.
The best thing this company can do is amend their website - items can be completed in a week, but most will take longer.....
Really pleased with my door anyway.

I contacted them to dip and strip cabinet doors for me. I was informed their turn around was a week. Subsequently I had to ask for the items back after some 7 weeks and they had not dipped 5 of the doors and those that had been dipped were still wet on their return.
Excuses were the doors had primer on them under the two layers of paint, not enough staff etc etc. I asked several times for a location so that I could pick up the doors and this was ignored on each occasion. I finally demanded they be returned even if not finished as lost total confidence in their integrity and this was evident on the quality of the works returned to me. I would advise anyone requiring a dipping/ stripping service to stay well clear.

I trusted this company with five internal doors for stripping, expecting a simple process and a quick return. Instead, this company has proven to be unreliable and completely unprofessional:

Endless Delays and Broken Promises: What was supposed to take one week has stretched into weeks with repeated missed delivery dates. Each time, they offered new excuses like "still drying" or "van availability issues," but the doors remain missing.

No Communication or Accountability: They are nearly impossible to reach. At this point, I have six different contact numbers for them, yet calls go unanswered, and messages are ignored. It’s clear they are avoiding customer inquiries rather than addressing them.

Dishonest Claims: On one occasion, they even claimed a delivery attempt was made but "no one was home"—completely false, as someone was there specifically to receive the doors.

This company has not provided any solutions, compensation, or clear answers. The stress, lost time, and frustration have been overwhelming. Do yourself a favour and AVOID —you won’t get your items back or barely hear from them.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

What it has taught me is to research every company I use.

Unfortunately for them I have a freind who works in fraud and corruption.

Ruined my table now just ignoring me

Absolute cowboys! 10 beautiful Ercol chairs sent for stripping! All have come back completely ruined! One is broken beyond repair? The man that delivered them tried telling my husband that a screw a glue would suffice to fix it? I’m going to try and get my bank to take up a dispute with them? £380 wasted! I’m a pensioner and can ill afford to be treated like this? I’m disgusted!

l wish l read the reviews before they took my late after garden furniture it’s 3 weeks now they had my furniture and 2 now they was bring back on 31st August 2024 they didn’t so l ring on Friday morning on 6th September 2024 and they would send me a text message giving me a time slot to deliver it on 7th September 2024 so l called again this morning and the woman sent me message on WhatsApp telling me she would take a photo of it when it’s done cuz l said l didn’t want a photo l want to see it in person before l pay them cuz the driver wants the money first before he takes it out the van l told her NO NO l want to see it before paying anything so if one thinks about choosing Capital Door stripping avoid THEM ALL COST……/. The man who brought my late father’s garden furniture was very rude saying he wants the money first when l gave the money he rang boss saying he’s only Driver and l rang them myself .because he said angry mood you White English in which there was know need for that l didn’t get to check my late father’s Garden furniture until the next day oh my God it’s a chunk for his wood took out in the arm of the chair pieces splinter and varnish on there still trying to get hold of them but no prevail but I will going to standards capital Doors stripping just a rip off for what I paid for £250 for it to come back like this so anyone who reads my new update please leave a comment or where else I can go to get my money back, thank you

Same experience as the person below. Paid to have 5 doors stripped, eventually they were returned after a month. None of them were stripped properly but still had the priming layer on them, even though I asked for them to be stripped fully, by hand at an additional cost but this was ignored. Now after 2 months the doors are still wet with the acid which they were dunked in, I believe twice, and they were not properly neutralised. I’ve called every day for the last 2 weeks to be told that the manager is the only person who can deal with my complaint but he isn’t around.
Update : After weeks of trying to get a response from Door stripping services / Capital Door stripping, I took my doors to another company to try and get them to neutralise them, they hand stripped them beautifully but couldn't neutralise them. So I have 5 internal doors, still wet with acid 6 months on, and need to replace all 5 doors.
