Dillenger Electric Bikes Arvostelua 

After months of research, I decided to buy the 350 watt Dillenger Street Legal front hub motor kit. The price was right, it arrived in three days, undamaged and well packed. I received emails & text messages from Dillenger during the whole delivery process. There was even a call to make sure it arrived in good shape. In short, it fit, with a little dropout filing and took about 3 hours to complete the install. I am very, very comfortable working with bikes, but the install is straightforward if you download the manuals. To the chase: I rode 50 miles the first outing on the hilly trails in Fayetteville, Arkansas and it was a blast. More than half a charge still showing on the battery with an average speed of 17 mph. (top speed:22mph excluding major downhill runs) I have no use for the throttle and brake sensors-too much clutter-so I can’t comment on those, but the Hall sensor and 9 assist modes worked like a charm. Flattened those hills right out for this 64 yo veteran biker who has been sidelined by multiple knee surgeries. Quiet motor, good display, deep battery. My Giant Roam 2 is a perfect match with lots of gears, although I never left the big ring up front. It is exactly what I wanted. If it continues to hold up and perform the way it has, I will be a very satisfied customer.

I ordered the Street Legal Electric Bike Kit - Samsung Power to convert my hybrid for commuting purposes. So far I have done over 300km and everything seems to be working well. Speedwise I get up to 30km/h using the throttle alone.

The kit was relatively straightforward to install, though there were no paper instructions included so had to find them online and display on my phone. The website provided good advice on battering sizing and fork widths. Although my front forks are appropriately sized according to the website, it narrows just above the dropouts meaning the motor couldn't quite fit.

I contacted Dillenger who were quite helpful with suggestions to make the motor hub fit, even sending me a link to where I could buy an appropriate 'spacer washer' to fit on the axle between the motor and forks. In the end, they offered to sell me the spacer which solved the issue by slightly widening the forks. Note, I did a bit of online research to see if this was safe and the consensus seemed to be it should be OK on steel forks, but not to risk it on aluminium or carbon. You can find out the material of your forks at the manufacturers website.

The other issue I had was the dropouts (where the axle sits) were slightly narrow. I wasn't keen to file these much to make the axle fit, so the axle currently sits slightly low in the dropout. I purchased a torque arm for peace of mind for this reason even though it is a smaller motor.

You will need to do a bit of tinkering to make sure all the components fit. YouTube videos were also helpful with the install. I imagine the main issues will be the same that I encountered ie width of forks and width of dropouts.

I purchased the kit in November and it was then listed $150 cheaper in December for Christmas. So if you're looking to buy, maybe hold off until end of year for the specials.

Loving my electric kit, that horrid headwind on the way home from work is now a thing of the past.
The totally street legal kit is somewhat limited to 25km/h, above this speed hub assistance drops away. I think that's a good thing for bike path safety reasons; sometimes I pedal under my own steam at 27km/h for a bit of extra exercise. People who normally ride along at +30km/h might find this frustrating because their bike is now 7kg heavier but not giving any power. Pick the right kit for your needs.
Dropping down some gears and putting in more of your own effort for hill climbs, take offs, and spending a bit of time above 25km/h means I can get two return trips to work (~60km), instead of the 1.25 return trips when I was mucking around exploring the battery and the control system.

If you are thinking of upgrading or just simply going for the ready to ride bikes on offer, then dillenger electric bikes are there at the top. They have a wide range of products for everyone. I have the street legal kit that I have had for several months now, this kit performs flawlessly, is super easy to install and will take you anywhere with minimal effort from the rider. Dillenger also have a exellent attitude when it comes to customer service and support. The rapid response time via email is fast. You will not be left days Waiting to hear from them. I live in Darwin NT and even the courier service used to ship goods is so quick I had my kit in 6 days.
If you are thinking of going ebike the n give these guys a go. You will not be dissapointed.

I mistakenly entered a po box for delivery.I wasn't notified although the money was paid. It wasn't until I emailed them 3 weeks later,asking where the kit was, that I was told I needed a different delivery address.
Eventually I received only half the kit, I sent another email asking what was going on. The second package finally arrived. I had neither instructions nor invoice.
Incidently, anyone fitting the kits would normaly have most of what was in the toolkit themselves so ask what you get before buying it. Emails are read at night so replies can take 24hours.
I have dealt with this company before with no problems. Maybe it was just a case of a comedy of errors but I will be hesitant in the future.
I am happy with the conversion kit (BBS01) and hope this review doesn't put off your decision.This review is constructive criticism for future improvement.

Bought the 1500W hub system with big (and heavy) 20A/hr battery. Install took just over 2hrs - I'm total newb at bike mechanics - it was that easy. Fitted to a big nine mtb - went shopping with the cut out Dillinger let you download and print. Made the shopping a lot easier. Have sat on a steady 40km/h on the flats with throttle only. 50km/h using PAS. System is heavy - I reckon we'll look back at these in a few years like mobile phone and laugh at how big and bulky - until then though I'm smashing trails with hours of battery power, zipping around and just loving being on a bike again. Thanks.

I like the kit it looks good and was easy to install. The Pedel assist didn't fit my bike which is an odd bike so not too gutted, the brake component also didn't fit because my brake levers aren't magnetic, I could glue them on I guess.

Also and this probably isn't your fault but let's say I am on the chubby side and the motor did struggle a little to heave me up a small hill.

I love the kit and I would try and get my mum to buy one to save her walking. Just too pricey I'm sure I could find plenty of motorbikes for $900. But it depends on why you are buying it.

Overall I'd say Dillenger have been pleasant and easy to deal with. Ordering online was as simple as it should be and pre-purchase queries were quickly answered. Post sales support has been faultless and speedy (Thanks Iris).

I'm very happy with the bike. It's quite a thrill when you start up and the bike simply takes over and peddling becomes almost redundant. I like the three settings of assistance. As I ride more I will probably use less assistance - then again maybe not. I have the choice. Tyres, I'm not so sure about. I seem to have to reflate them fairly often.

Drawbacks do exist. The Opia I bought has no user manual - this is where post sales support was needed and gratefully received. I had to chase my order delivery and there was a processing error which delayed delivery. If I had not had to deal with these two hiccups it'd be 5 stars though.

Product is good. Quick delivery. You didn't advise me of the tracking number. Would have preferred the instructions to be with the product.

Purchased a kit at first, ,which was fine. But when it comes to spare parts they aren't very good. First the battery played up so I drove from Brisbane to the Gold Coast to grab a new one. Not far yeah sure. But when you get home and the one they give you doesn't even work, not even turn on. Next I rang to order a new rear rim. Bloke I spoke to told me, "oh no it's not that, you need this" he was wrong. I then ordered the rear rim which fixed the problem but on the website it doesn't tell you it doesn't come with the cassette, which you need to make it work. My latest experience, I ordered some new spokes and brake leavers. After 2 weeks of not receiving anything I rang them. After some searching they told me they had Miss placed my order. I'm not saying it's a bad product folks. But if your after spare parts it could be painfull.

Staff are helpful and the kids they sell are great.

placed an order on the website for a lithium battery 24V.
I didnt receive any notice of backorder.
I called after 2 weeks, and was asked to wait another 2 weeks.
I was then contacted to be informed that my lithium battery was not delivered from China.
I was proposed to settle for the acid battery.

Not a great experience.

Placed order and paid for on 26/11/16.
No response from emails sent enquiring of order status.
Last email sent on 14/12/16.
Purchase has not arrived.

After ordering at full price, a little over $2000(It went down to $1500 a few days later) I waited for my delivery to arrive Friday 2nd of December as that was the ETA given via email. Having no bike over the weekend I started to get worried but Monday came and finally it was here.

After putting it together and tightening everything I was ready to go. The bike itself feels good and looks like a beast too. Several people have commented on it looking 'mean' and yet they didn't even realize it was an ebike. Some do notice though.

After some rubbing from the front disc break, a quick adjustment fixed it but I am concerned with the front forks, they 'bend inwards' when breaking and I really hope they are strong enough.

Overall I am very happy with the bike. I guess I would recommend this product and with 500 bucks off, its a steal. (buy a lock!)

In one week I have been cycling more than in a year, due to ankle injury. Thumbs up for a relatively easy conversion of my Advanti. Looking forward to a dedicated e bike next, such as the hunter mid drive in the near future.

I bought a road conversion kit mid 2014'. yes, the warranty has expired, but with less than probably 50 recharges, since i installed the kit. I now have been advised i probably have a DUD battery. As ive always had a problem using the throttle from new, one would conclude the battery was probably faulty from new!.. Dillenger now sell a updated dolphin battery, with SAMSUNG cells. They wont admit the first edition batteries where duds. NO help or discount offered for a replacement battery. I will source a NEW battery from ALI EXPRESS !
