We needed to find a replacement for our existing gas fire and visited the fireplace factory who were very helpful and once we had decided on the Paragon version for a “hole in the wall” installation we ordered the fire we wanted. We were very pleased to be advised that the fire was in stock and could be delivered and installed within 9 days.

The men that installed the fire and fireplace where friendly, polite and efficient. they respected my property and left it clean and tidy when they left. The fire looks great, so I am very pleased.

I emailed about a replacement part for my fire which I was finding difficult to source. I received a very quick reply and was able to order the part direct for a great price. Delivery was quick and communication throughout was excellent. Would highly recommend this company.

What can I say but perfect. I absolutely love this fire. Have waited so long for a gas fire as lived with electric for over a decade and hated the false effect. Its beautiful like a real fire without the cleaning and relighting. The glass front is an added bonus so the heat goes where it should. Heats up quickly and warms the room well. Im delighted would highly recommend this fire.

The gas fire we chose was of good quality, it's ideal for my 80 year old mother as the control switch is on the side of the fire & easily accessible.
We found it easy to register the guarantee, as it was online.

We bought a CJ018 Electroflame fire with black cast facia in February 2023. It looked great and worked perfectly for the first year and a bit, then when we switched it on this winter (2024) we found that, while the light worked fine, the heater only worked intermittently. Unfortunately by then it was out of warranty and after numerous communications and attempts to remedy it via our dealer, Charlton and Jenrick have washed their hands of it. So we paid £550 in 2023 and it's now unreliable as a fire. We'll never buy another one by this maker.
Subsequent to further communication with the company they have confirmed the fire is out of its 12 month warranty and any repairs etc would be at our expense. So, to be clear, in its second year this electric fire has become unreliable.

Chose a fire that wasn't ideal for us as it turned out (the modern high level lever system only had 2 settings:- a low and a high setting and the room got to hot on low. We had to open doors and suffer cold drafts to avoid overheating whilst relaxing! ) The manaufacturer's helpline for Paragon/C & J said nothing could be done.

Turns out our gas engineer subsequently found an injector nozzle that the manufacture's had supplied with the fire's original instructions. This limited the gas supply leading to a cooler low setting - perfect outcome for us.
This review is based on the helpline not informing us of the possible fix. Also their tone on the helpline made me feel like they were saving "tough luck".

1. I would not buy a fire with a lever system again, rather get a dial that is heat adjustable through a far heat range.
2. And I would not buy this manufacture's fire again because of the helpline that wasn't a helpline! Can't recall the exact date after xmas when I called, sorry.

Excellent company to deal with. Answered the phone without waiting for hours, receptionist dealt promptly with my issue. They gave me an accurate ETA of the engineer. He was friendly and very professional. Faultless, wish more companies were the same to deal with.

AVOID AVOID AVOID. Purchased our stove in November 2023. Used it till spring 2024. When I came to start using in Autum 2024, I was shocked to find RUST on the door, legs and on the body of the stove where the door closes to. I contacted Charlton and Jenrick and couldn't believe the response. I was asked if I'd had building work done as their stoves can be affected by the moisture associated with building work. I assured them no work whatsoever had been carried out that would cause the rusting of this less than 12 month old , expensive , stove. In fact I previously owened a Morso stove at my previous house where building work HAD taken place and that had zero effect on that stove. The excuse given for their inferior product rusting is pathetic. They refused point blank to even consider replacing the door where most of the rust has formed. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS COWBOY OUTFIT
