I used their service to translate multiple documents for a visa application. The initial quote was high due to the volume, but before I even reached out, they proactively emailed me with strategies to reduce the cost.

The whole premise of Certling is that it uses technology to give you a fairer rate. In fact, the opposite is true. The landing page makes it seem like you will get up to a 52% saving versus the competitor. However, once you submit your document with personal information for a quote, you find out that the quote is actually quite a bit higher than the competition.

If you read even the positive reviews closely, you will notice that Certling makes a lot of pricing "mistakes" and the owner Michael has to backpedal to try to avoid critical reviews.

I was quote $80 for a simple translation of a birth certificate (one of the easiest types of documents to translate since it's mostly proper names) while two competitors charged $50. Classic bait-and-switch.

Certling claims that the error was due to algorithm mis-parsing the watermark which is ridiculous because many official documents like birth certificates have seals and watermarks. It makes me question the legitimacy of the technology and whether it should be used for important documents where the translation can have real impact of people's lives.

Certling tried to offer me a 20% discount. Even with that discount, his service with the mis-quote would be quite a bit more than the competition. However, it's much more than the cost. It's about trust, and Certling lost my trust from the beginning.

Michael told me that the competitors would charge me for four pages. That's simply another lie. I got a quote from a competitor, and I was charged a fair price ($50 versus the $80 Certling quote). The competitor quote was fast (took a little over an hour). It wasn't instantaneous like Certling. However, unlike Certling, it was accurate and did not require wasting time talking to the owner and trying to figure out why their technology was messed up.

I'm sharing this experience to give a real impression of how Certling works. The owner is quite good at SEO and marketing so the page came up quite a few times when I was researching option. In the end, it just a middle man trying to make a buck.

The translation initially had an error (looked like an AI tool was used which interpreted something that wasn't a letter into one). The error was rapidly corrected once I notified Certling.

Unfortunately their credentials were not accepted by the Massachusetts RMV. Michael reached out right away to address the issue, I really appreciate the responsiveness. The credentials letter was amended, but we decided to request a translation from a local translator to not risk it a second time. RMV requirements appear to fluctuate with time and RMV location, it's a bit frustrating.

Inaccurate initial translation from French to English and a long wait time for for delivery of corrected documents.

You do need to proofread the translation, but mistakes are quickly rectified, and for the price I really can’t complain. Would use again for simple translations that need to be certified.
