Unprofessional and Frustrating…
Unprofessional and Frustrating Experience
My experience with Brooklyn Publishing Company was deeply disappointing and frustrating. I initially approached them for help gathering reviews, but they persuaded me to purchase a comprehensive package of services, including editing, formatting, social media marketing, and advertising. Unfortunately, their delivery and professionalism fell far short of expectations.
Vague and Unclear Agreements
One of their agreements included a promise to secure “10-15 reviews” for my book. My attorney advised me that such vague terms are unprofessional for a contract. Any agreement should specify clear, measurable outcomes, but theirs lacked this standard.
Challenges with Refunds
When I decided to end our agreement due to their lack of follow-through, I requested a refund. Only then was I informed of their refund policy, which required extended delays and withholding a portion of the amount as a “service fee.” I felt this was unreasonable given their failure to meet expectations. After escalating the issue, I eventually recovered my full payment through outside assistance.
Unprofessional Formatting
Despite providing detailed instructions on how I wanted my book formatted, they used a basic word processor, which I felt was unsuitable for professional results. When I requested a more polished format using industry-standard tools, they made last-minute attempts to accommodate me but were unable to meet my needs. This delay caused significant setbacks for my project timeline.
Concerns About Transparency
I noticed a pattern where associates I interacted with had distinct non-American accents but used overly simple American names, such as “John Smith” or “Mary Jones.” While this might not bother others, in my opinion, it felt misleading and added to my overall discomfort with their services.
Missed Deadlines and Broken Promises
Despite clearly communicating my deadlines, including a planned book release date, they consistently failed to meet them. Their delays forced me to miss publishing in time to advertise and prepare for the Christmas sales.
Final Thoughts
In my experience, Brooklyn Publishing Company failed to deliver its promises and lacked the professionalism needed for its advertised services. I can't recommend them to anyone looking for reliable publishing assistance. If you’re considering working with them, I strongly urge caution and thorough research beforehand.
