This product is great for a child who has a small injury that primarily needs emotional care. The cooling effect is great to relieve pain (in children and adults) and makes the injury feel immediately better. There is a small absorbency pad but it is minimal to increase the effect of the cooling pad beneath it. These would be great for households with toddlers and older and facilities like daycares, for certain!

The band aid stuck well and did not fall. My children enjoyed having an ice pack and band aid combination at the same time and they did not have to be holding an ice pack.

The Realistic Downsides

* Short-Lived Chill: The active cooling sensation only lasts about 10 to 15 minutes. It is perfect for drying up initial tears, but if your child has a major swelling injury that needs long-term icing, you will still need a heavy-duty cold compress.
* The Price Tag: At around $22 for a variety bundle, they are definitely a luxury compared to a standard box of grocery store bandages. I have to ration them so my kid doesn't try to use them for "invisible" boo-boos.

The Final Verdict
Are they a total replacement for a medical ice pack? No. But as a first-line defense against toddler tantrums and minor playground bumps, they are worth every penny. They turn a stressful, screaming situation into something manageable in seconds.
