What an amazing few days! I literally had the best time and learned with an amazing instructor in Carol. I started being quite nervous and by test day I was so confident I passed MOD 1 and 2 with 1 minor.
It was all down to the amazing Carol! I can’t recommend her or this course enough

Stoke on Trent centre. I had John for my main trainer but also had Kev and Roz. The trainers were very experienced, patient, approachable and friendly. Took a 7 day intensive for direct access and passed. Got my full licence in 7 days. Amazing

Fantastic week. Instructors are amazing. They are great at building up your confidence and incredibly patient. No way I could do their job!!

Its amazing the progress you make in a short space of time. Facilities are great and private road network is an invaluable tool. Lots of new bikes for people of all heights. Passed both Mod1 & Mod2 1st time and have now bought a new BMW motorbike. Would and have recommend to multiple people. Will likely return for some advanced training at some point.

I attended BMW Rider Training at Exeter for my mod 1 and 2.
My instructor was Simon, a retired Police Officer of 30 years, with even more riding history than that.
A qualified instructor of the standards set by the DVSA. I fail to see how a 1 star can be given for this venue.

Top facilities, new bikes and positive friendly staff provided an excellent service in my opinion.
If you want to buy a BMW motorcycle or related clothing, this is the place to go as you get discounts.
I’m now the proud owner of a GS750 and loving the independence.

Bravo to those at Exeter and their fantastic instruction methods and a road network to practice before going on road.

I went to Exeter BMW riding school.

Absolutely brilliant instructors, all very patient and more than happy to take their time to teach you. I’ve never even sat on a motorbike before. They taught me how to ride confidently. I did a 7 day DAS course, my instructor Carol was a brilliant instructor along with Chris who also helped me.
Not sure why the 1 star reviewer gave a bad review, I found the kit to be clean, in very good condition and plenty of it. Everything you need is provided. The bikes are excellent too.
All in all an excellent riding school, which I would recommend to anyone!

BMW Darlington: Friendly, professional team that train to a high standard and go the extra mile to let you concentrate purely on your learning and test.

These guys are as much BMW as any random riding school is Honda.

I went to the Exeter Centre, and it was a waste of time and money. It was a local riding school called MTS! So what was the difference between the MTS and BMW courses? Well, the latter was more expensive

Was I trained by a BMW certified trainer? Nope. A police retiree and a random dude were trainers. Also, there were some other retirees to choose from, none of them a BMW employee or BMW certified trainer as far as I was told by them

Did I receive a BMW training certificate? Nope

Did the facilities have anything to do with BMW? Nope. Except for the bikes that you can buy one from Auto trader

Did they know how to train? Nope. I have a decade of experience in teaching and training--other fields, not riding--, and I studied and was trained to be a teacher, probably unlike these people. Based on my experience and merits, they have no competence in training. The least in your teaching is finding the flawed logic of your trainee and trying to fix it, not "threatening the mistake out of trainees"

Do they have swift and respectful customer service? Nope. I told them the whole story a week ago, and they couldn't care less. They are active when they want to take your money.

Did they have a dedicated changing room, as they advertised on their website? Nope. Take off your clothes in the middle of the training room.

Did they wash the clothes every day, as they say? Nope. The same sweaty gears of yesterday are waiting for you.

I can continue this list for a few more items.

You can choose these guys if you want to receive training from an random trainer who just happens to have riding experience. Paying 1600£ to learn from an ex-service guy how to clutch seems not a good deal

Avoid these people or lower your expectations. There is nothing related to BMW there except some logos and bikes. Following the same logic, the riding school in your neighbourhood is a Honda school.

Oh, about the 7-day DAS course. It was not a 7-day course. The last day was dedicated to the exams, so it was practically a 6-day course.

Also, they charged me for CBT but didn't give me my certificate (I had one from another school, but it is nice to get another one when you have paid for it, isn't it?)

All in all, a rubbish experience with some rude trainers. Avoid them, especially if you are not "local"

I suffered a TIA at the beginning of my biking journey and didn't think I'd ever be able to get my full license, after doing the intensive 7-day training which they tailored to me and my needs I can now say I have my full A motorbike license after passing both MODs first time. I did mine at the Stoke-On-Trent site and the team there were absolutely fantastic, I'd highly recommend doing this course if like me you learn better intensively rather than the odd few-hours lessons here and there.

Shoutout to the incredible Brian, Ian, and the whole squad at the BMW Rider Training Centre Royston! The week-long intensive course to get my full bike license was an absolute blast. I mean, who knew learning could be so much fun? These guys are seriously pros, catering to each of our needs and sharing their wisdom with flair. Before I could even say "vroom vroom," I was zooming around and having a blast. Oh, and did I mention that I aced the course? Yep, I'm ready to hit the road with my fancy new motorbike from BMW Motorrad. Huge props to Brian, Ian, and the entire team for making this experience outstanding and unforgettable. They not only taught me how to ride, but also ignited a fire within me to constantly improve as a rider. These folks are the real deal, folks – true experts who teach with a passion that's contagious. So, a million thanks again. Can't wait to join you all for some epic touring soon. See you on the open road!!

Everything promised was delivered ,very structured training from Brian and Ian and a great laugh... Hugely experienced people who understand the misgivings of the student and gave support where neccessary ... couldnt have asked for more

Kevin and the team are second to non. As a professional athlete I am constantly around world class coaches day in and day out. The way Kevin and the team teach is no different, they are sensational at their jobs and made the process so simple and Interesting! I couldn’t recommend a better place to learn!

Quite simply the best experience ever. Absolutely amazing week which culminated in me gaining my full motorcycle licence. I cannot say enough good things about my instructor Denis, who juggled the needs of two people learning at different speeds, and was calm, professional and an absolute joy to work with. Ian and the rest of the team are all amazing too, and we were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Thank you all so much for your absolute dedication, experience, customer service and outstanding facilities. If you are thinking of learning to ride a motorcycle, don't even think about going anywhere else.

I have just completed the 6 day DAS course at Royston. The bikes are well maintained current models, the clean kit is BMW branded and a range of sizes are on site. The environment is pleasant and the dedicated practice area is an excellent resource. Above all though, is the level of skilled professional instruction. From Ian’s introduction to Dave’s incremental focus on detail, all was delivered in a constructive, positive and friendly manner. I had a great week, had the good fortune to have excellent company (hi George 😎) learned loads and really appreciated the support and guidance throughout. If you want to learn to ride, I thoroughly recommend this course. Oh yes - and I passed mod 1 and mod 2 first time. Thanks guys.

Dave has been a fantastic instructor!

During the entire training, Dave made everything so simple, fun and enjoyable. I have already recommended him to one of my friends and will continue to recommend him to any friends that are thinking of completing a Direct Access. It was a great experience and passed at 1st attempt.

Brilliant service from booking to test completion.
I would highly recommend this motorcycle school. The tuition was second to non. The school provides clean equipment for you to use and the bikes are all new and very well maintained.
I took the 7 day course. From a novice to passing my full license in 7 days. A big thank you to Dennis & Dave. 2 brilliant trainers, very experienced on every aspect.

As it is, I finally made it to the full license yesterday. Would not be possible without exceptional tutoring by one of the stars of the training centre in Royston.
For the past week I've been constantly riding, sometimes in the strong winds, sometimes in the pelting, icy rain, sometimes in both...
I've been shown what riding could be, that weather conditions is something that one needs to account for but by no means something that excludes a day from enjoyable riding!
I lost some weight through this week, I gained a lot more.
This was an exceptional experience in the very positive sense of the phrase, something unfathomable for the past me stuck on the North Circular riding my 125ccm bike.
And at some point in the February I'll pick up my new F750 GS... Can't wait. My motorcycle journey has truly just started, despite all the years spent on the smaller bike.

Highly Recommend, I went from never riding a motorcycle to passing my tests in 7 days, Ian and Denis were amazing, very informative and patient. I really enjoyed my week of learning and cannot wait to get a bike and hit the open road.

Just completed the DAS at the royston branch. Really helpful team who took me through from the basics of the CBT to the full test. Great equipment with both high quality bikes and clothes provided.
Very professional but also friendly and encouraging through to the test and afterwards.
