Incredible customer support in a very complicated case

My experience with Barner was truly exceptional. Even though I had a complicated situation with extremely high import fees from DHL (which were out of Barner’s control), the support team went above and beyond to help me.

They were patient, kind, and genuinely cared about solving the issue. They offered clear communication, took responsibility for the inconvenience, and followed up until the very end. Thanks to their help, I was able to receive my glasses — and I absolutely love them. The design, quality, and fit were everything I imagined.

This is one of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever had. I just hope in the future they can improve international logistics to make it easier for customers in countries like mine (Costa Rica). But overall, I would 100% recommend them.

Great customer service

Great customer service. They made sure that they had the right prescription, provided advice to check a few things and expedited the order in no time! And the style and quality of the frame and lenses is fantastic. It’s my fourth pair of Barner and I’ll keep coming back.

BEWARE - hidden charges!!!

Be aware that this company displays their website as if you are ordering from the UK, but instead, they are based in Spain. Rather than being transparent and showing you taxes at checkout (so they can be prepaid without additional courier processing fees), they con you into placing an order anyway. Then they threatened that if my item was undeliverable (if I did not want to / could not afford to pay these charges) that they would take 30 EUR from any refund. I don’t even think this is legal. Steer well clear and pick a trusted online retailer that is transparent.

As a European brand, we always aim for transparency. While we design our products in Barcelona, some of our items are produced in Asia, and shipments outside the EU may be subject to import duties and courier fees, something we clearly mention during checkout and in our shipping policy. That said, we’re already working on expanding pre-paid customs options to avoid surprises like this in the future.

We also want to clarify that no charge is applied unless the parcel is returned to us, and even then, any deductions are strictly to cover the international shipping and handling costs, as outlined in our return policy.

Unhappy with Barner Dalston Black Noir Sun sunglasses

EDIT: There is a silver lining. I contacted Barner support. They were very helpful and professional. I got a full refund and they handled the return cost. So the experience was not bad after all. So due to great customer service I have increased the experience rating (mind you Im still not happy with that particular product). Maybe I was unlucky with this model. I would highly recommend you to try them out outdoors in bright light if you can, and not only in a shopping mall.

I bought two pairs of Barner Dalston Black Noir Sun sunglasses (49 EUR each) before my vacation from one of Barner re-sellers. The fit seemed great for me and my sibling (we both have narrow faces), but the quality turned out to be extremely poor.

Wearing them in strong sunlight gave us headaches and eye strain, and there’s a noticeable glare on the inner side of the lenses that really hurts the eyes and is potentially very unhealthy (I have sent photo evidence to the manufacturer). They were basically unusable except in very low light. So you could only use them for about 15-20 mins daily, at just the right angle so the sun would not hurt your eyes. I even started seeing flashes in my vision after a few days of use, which made me stop wearing them entirely for health concerns.

Im not sure where do all the positive reviews come from (these positive reviews made me buy the sunglasses) and if people wearing these sunglasses even use them as protection against sun, or only as a fashion accessory. Functionally they are horrible, esthetically they are nice.

The re-seller Optics store refused to accept a return since 7 days from the purchase is their limit (but we were not in the country), despite all the communication, evidence and back-and-forth visits. They eventually told me to contact the manufacturer directly.

I’ve reached out to Barner customer support and am currently waiting for a response. I do not want a replacement, just a full refund as soon as possible.

Completely disappointed with the product. Im hoping their customer service will be good.

Great customer service! My first pair of glasses didn’t match the listed measurements, but the support team (special thanks to Ismael) handled it very professionally. They acknowledged the mistake, waived the exchange fee, and made the replacement process easy and clear.

The new glasses fit perfectly — I’m very happy with the outcome. Thank you for the excellent support!

Excellent customer service

Very respectful , great customer service. Received a pair of glasses with small damage. I didn’t insist on replacing them but they sent me a new pair regardless within 3 days. They Didn’t even ask for the old glasses to be sent back. Really professional. Glasses are top quality. All in all excellent experience will definitely come back to purchase in the future.

Very disappointing as a consumer

Very disappointing as a consumer.

Purchased a barner glasses but ended ip paying more. Im very frustrated because i have to pay 70 dollars extra once it arrives here in US. Some small disclaimer upon check out that you have to call local customs for information regarding fees but who does that for an order of glasses. I believe that the disclaimer of the tariff was soo vague and not very informative and i think this is very unfair to your customers. You have to highlight that for customers outside Spain, there is an additional fee once it arrives to your doorstep and its actually more than the price of the glasses 🤓 we are selling. This is ridiculous and unfair plus the return policy is absurd and i hope that your company will learn from your mistakes and act on it. Rest assured that I will report this incident to the US consumer protection agency.

If you’re in USA, please dont buy this brand now because you 100 percent regret.
