For 200 years, generations of the Walker family have helped local families arrange meaningful and personal funerals with care, compassion and attention to detail. Today, A.B. Walker is owned and managed by fifth-generation funeral directors Matthew and Julian Walker, supported by an experienced local team. We arrange traditional and contemporary funerals, bespoke funeral services, cremations, burials and direct cremations, as well as providing funeral plans, memorial masonry, memorial jewellery and bereavement support. We support people of every faith and no faith, respecting individual beliefs, cultures, traditions and personal wishes. Our head office is in Reading, with local funeral homes in Caversham, Tilehurst, Woodley, Wokingham, Bracknell, Maidenhead, Thatcham and Henley-on-Thames. Our team can also arrange funerals throughout the UK and assist families with national and international repatriation. A.B. Walker is a member of both SAIF (National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors) and the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) and is inspected against independent funeral service standards. We work with Golden Charter Funeral Plans to provide secure and flexible prepaid funeral plan options regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. I experienced personnel service…
I experienced personnel service throughout the whole journey of loosing my husband. Right from the very first phone call two days from my husband actually passing away. I entrusted Walkers to look after everything from the wonderful flowers to the beautiful service sheets right through to the interment of my husband's ashes in our churchyard. Thank you so much to the whole team involved.

Supportive staff who took me through the initial process of organising the funeral. Staff on the funeral day (conductor and drivers) kind and helpful, they ensured the funeral ran to plan and supported my teenage children with their needs.

Francesca accepted all our, some unusual, requirements and made it all happen perfectly. Sam our Celebrant was excellent both in preperation and on the day and those who tended to the coffin on the day were respectful and worked seamlessly with Sam. One person who attended described it to me as "impeccable" and I would agree.
