From our first meeting with Debbie everything was explained so well .Kerry was amazing regarding everything to do with the funeral it made a difficult time so much easier to deal with.I would certainly recommend them to everyone.

The whole funeral process was made so much easier than imagined. The staff were caring, patient, good listeners and were kind. Nothing seemed too much. they made each family member feel at ease.

Everyone at James Smith was absolutely incredible. Their kindness, compassion and support was second to none, and greatly appreciated at such a difficult time. Elise took care of everything and guided us through the arrangements with sincerity and understanding. Nothing was too much trouble. They took our worries away and the day ran beautifully.

We really can’t thank Adrian and the team enough for the beautiful and personal funeral they provided. Nothing was too much, and every request we made was met with such kindness. To everybody involved, from bringing my loved one into care, to the bearers on the day, thank you. As a family we are extremely grateful.

From the moment my mum sadly left us, they were compassionate, helpful and guided me through the next steps. We used their facilities for the funeral service which was a perfect why to say goodbye to mum.

They are so caring and understand the loss. I feel comfortable with kerry and she did everything ..

Excellent service from start to finish

I couldn't have wished for a better send-off for my mother-in-law last month. The company were sensitive to our every need, we're kind, professional and well worth considering for funeral plans and even just an informal chat about what you want at the end.

Peter Short was extremely helpful and alleviated my concerns about the arrangements. He also made some really good suggestions regarding accommodation for my family during the process. I would not hesitate in recommending this friendly and caring family Funeral Director.

Marcella took such wonderful care of us when my husband passed away, nothing was too much trouble and she is just so lovely. The service was very personal and my husband was treated with care and dignity throughout.

Overall I was not at all impressed. It was my father’s choice to use your firm, as my mother’s funeral back in 1999 was with Smalls.
I felt the initial welcome was far from correct given the circumstances. Young people's talk is not appropriate for older people arranging funerals.
There was no structure to the meeting, nothing was shown to us. There was no reference to all the documents I had been sent, which were difficult to go through on my iPad. The only way to access the coffin choice was at home, through a tiny blue word in the covering email, no attachment. The only item to look through was the flower arrangement book.
I helped arrange my aunt’s funeral back in September, with another funeral director. We left their premises with all the payment details written out and totalled. We felt everything was in place.  I had to chase to get this information from yourselves. None of this arrived on headed paper, in the email. There was a blank page of headed paper at the beginning of the letter.
The initial wording for the notice in the newspapers was ghastly and impersonal. No attempt had been made to find anything out about my father at the initial meeting. I was disappointed that no contact was made to discuss the cost of the advertisements, considering the high costs. The local one was placed twice.
With regard to the order of service, It was far too busy, with too much information (some of it irrelevant) squashed onto the front page. Then with two blank pages, inside the front and back pages. The initial layout and version two left a lot to be desired. There appear to be no appreciation of reasonable, sensibly spaced layout.
The funeral itself on the day seemed to go well.
