Always been happy until last 3 months
Post last review. Were very professional and caring about my dog’s recent operation. Thank you for looking after dog so well. Overall you’ve been a good veterinary surgery over the years ...some 14 +
Always been happy until last 3 months. Can’t get through. Then when I do ....fobbed off. Told I will get a call back...doesn’t happen. Then I have to keep asking for refund on medication they can no longer source which I paid for over 2 months ago,
Uncaring, No Compassion
I took Benson to Your Vets Rayleigh Essex on 14th August 2020, I didn't know that would be his last day, the Vet rang while I sat outside and told me that it was time for Benson to be euthanized he had stomach cancer, I asked on three occasions if I could be with him when Benson was put to sleep, I got three different reasons why I couldn't be there the receptionist told me it was at the vets discretion, the vet told told me the police had said no one can go into the vets, the nurse told me it was company policy, which is it they don't seemed to know.
Benson had been with me for 17.5 years and I am absolutely distraught I couldn't be with him in his last moments, I was asked to go to the back of the vets, and they allowed me 15 mins to be with Benson in the car park after they had given him an injection (I think to sedated him) before the final injection), it was a terrible experience for him, he was scared, he lost all his bodily functions they took Benson back into the vets.
I had to call my partner to bring me a change of clothes, I got changed in the car park, on the way home the Vet called me and told me Benson had gone and a nurse had given him a cuddle, that should have been me.
A couple of days later I received a card, 4 paw prints, poem and seeds to plant, which I thought was a nice thing to do on the face of it , but there was no compassion, no real thought, in 2005 Benson had a back leg removed following an accident, so when I rang the vet and said are these paw prints Benson's, as he only had three legs, she laughed and said I'm sure they are, I said it wasn't a thoughtful thing to do in the circumstances, so are these paw prints just thrown in an envelope or are they Benson's prints I don't know.
They called to let me know Benson's ashes were ready to collect, and I asked for his blanket and carrier to be there for me to collect, I wanted to keep everything of Benson's.They called to say they couldn't find his carrier or blanket, I said well I want it back, have you given it to some one else, I want you to recall all the boxes back if you have given them out, I was adamant I wanted them back.
I received a call from the head nurse who told me the blanket would have gone with Benson because of covid, which I said I totally understand, she kept referring to Benson as a 'she' I corrected her at least twice, she went on to say they have not got Benson's carrier and they would replace it, I said I didn't want a replacement I wanted Benson's carrier back, how dare they, throw away what was Benson's the nurse said we call all clients if carriers have names on them for them to pick up, I told her Benson's name was on the handle of the carrier, and I had never received a call to pick it up, I was so upset I put the phone down.
Benson was, a beautiful, loving, extremely affectionate boy and I miss him so much.
I will never again visit Your Vets, the way they handled things was disgusting, no compassion or thought, to me an every day occurrence they carrier out, it's all about money.
Uncaring bunch of thieves
The staff at this company have no clue to the meaning of the word communication. They fail with it all the time. They are the most unhelpful company I have ever had the mis-pleasure of dealing with. My dog went in for surgery, came out looking an absolute mess from what they did to her. Not only that, the "vet", a temp who worked there for just a few days, incorrectly recorded details down, fail to actually tell me what the issue was with my dog and completely screwed up the insurance application costing us £1000. Manager's response? "Oh i hhave complete faith in my vets" even though they are a temp for 2-3 days. Absolute joke. You try and cancel the monthly subscription and they suddenly lump up with loads of imaginary charges to make it look like you suddenly owe them a lot of money. You can get cheaper and better health care from other places. Can't recommand strongly enough to avoid this company.
Our dog had cruicate ligament operation.
Our dog had a cruicate ligament operation where his knee was pinned and plated in feb this year. Admittedly we had a good price for the operation and it was a success. But the aftercare is atrocious, we have not had the care we paid for including visits and a physio appointment. We understand the situation at the moment but we should still have had phone calls and I had to ask for an x ray to check how it was healing . This was in may and it turned out that the tendons had tightened due to him not using it. We were told that hydrothreapy was the best way forward. We found our own hydrothreapist Aquapawz, at another cost to ourselves, who is brilliant and has helped us and given us more advise than the vets. He has had a session a week since and even she hasn't had an acknowledgement when she sent an update to them after 5 sessions.they seem to have taken our money and then not cared afterwards. Our dog is still not walking on the leg.
Choose a better surgery
After reading the one star reviews I have to agree with everything that has been said about the pie in the sky prices and the lack of customer care.
Stupidly, I have been visiting this vet for 10 years with my dog. Because he’s always been in good health I’ve not really had to visit much, apart from yearly jabs. However, whenever I visit I always feel that there is no true and consistent care for the animals. Now my dog takes apoquel and dealing with surgery has been tough. They never remember my prescription, they never let me know of any price change and they try and say that they need to see my dog before they give medication even though he’s been seen regularly.
There is no consistency with this surgery and the prices are terrible. I recently had an over the phone consultation and a sample taken of a limp on my dog. They never let me know an actual figure as they said it depended on what samples the vet needed. Bill was £167 and the injection was £113. I just think, for the pure lack of sincerity and passion for my dog and his well-being I’ll never ever go here again.
If u love your pets do not go here please
DONT SEND YOUR PETS HERE , TOOK MY CAT HERE THEY CHARGED £130 FOR CHECKUP AND A PAINKILLER , THEY WANTED TO CHARGE 500 FOR A SCAN , WHEN I SPOKE TO PETS AT HOME THEY TOLD US IT WOULD COST £190, STAFF WAS VERY UNHELPFUL AND WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING,
Cost of Medication/Customer Relations.
Circumstance as to why I’m leaving a negative review.. Rayleigh
Two months ago my dog was admitted into hospital with stomach issues.
He still wasn’t right. I paid (£36.00) for a telephone consultation. Which took place on the 14th April 2020. Prior to my consultation I emailed the surgery, explaining my concerns. I also included pictures of my dogs bile and blood. The vet prescribed two lots of medication. I was told I could collect the medication from the surgery. .
28 x Apoquel 16mg £81.00
100 x Antespin 3ml twice daily £40.00
I couldn’t comprehend the price of the Apoquel. So I did my own enquires on line. I found suppliers that sold the same medication with a prescription. For £1.33/£1.44 a tablet. Yet I was charged £2.89 a tablet. (10% discount as I’m a member of the Healthy Pet Club) without that discount It would have been £3.18 approx a tablet.
I emailed the surgery asking for justification on charging me that amount. (Emailed via contact page) That was over two weeks ago. I’ve had no acknowledgement, no response.
I decided to contact the Standards and Advice Team, Professional Conduct Department, Royal Veterinary College. I was advised by them the following..
9.5 A veterinary surgeon is entitled to charge a fee for the provision of services. The RCVS has no specific jurisdiction under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 over the level of fees charged by veterinary practices. There are no statutory charges and fees are essentially a matter for negotiation between veterinary surgeon and client.
As you can see i have tried to address the price. To which I’ve been ignored.
9.27 Veterinary surgeons may make a reasonable charge for written prescriptions. (Prescriptions for POM-V medicines may be issued only for animals under the care of the prescribing veterinary surgeon and following his or her clinical assessment of the animals.) Clients should be provided with adequate information on medicine prices. Clients should be informed of any significant changes to the practice’s charges for prescriptions or medicines at the earliest opportunity to do so.
During my consultation I wasn’t provide with any information as to the cost of my dogs medication. I was only made aware when I pulled up outside, rang and paid the bill. At the time, I advised the receptionist I had already paid for the consultation. It was only then! That I was advised that was the cost of medications only £121.00
To add to this! I’m aware The RCVS Code of Professional Conduct for Veterinary Surgeons requires vets to make a Declaration on admission to the profession. Which is as follows:
" I PROMISE AND SOLEMNLY DECLARE that I will pursue the work of my profession with integrity and accept my responsibilities to the public, my clients, the profession and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and that, ABOVE ALL, my constant endeavour will be to ensure the health and welfare of animals committed to my care."
On Tuesday 28th April 2020 at 10.30pm I sent a further email, asking the Vet who I had spoken with on the 14th. To review the attached photos, as I wanted to know what we should do! It’s now five days (5) since I submitted that email. Again I haven’t heard a thing. So much for adhering to the declaration on admission to the profession.
If that Vet wasn’t available. Why couldn’t any other member of staff, called, texted or emailed… Or least acknowledge my email.
My dog has now been seen by another Independent vet and prescribed different medication.
KEEP AWAY
KEEP AWAY my Cat had a broken right lower fang he couldn't eat so we decided to take him to this vet.
Total cost £706.14p that inc cremation and ashes
That's right my cat died he bled to death
Keep away !
Overpriced rip off
Reading previous reviews regarding this practise concerning pricing I can only agree. I sent a photo of Our Dog Bensons anal gland ailment to the surgery and received a five minute telephone consultation from a Vet who recommended Antibiotics and painkillers for this I was charged the grand total of £40, nice work if you can get it, but they are paid for what they know and not so much what they do. I did enquire as to the cost for the medication but was told that she could not give a price as she was not at a computer, when I arrived to collect and pay for the prescription it became obvious why she was reluctant to give a figure..........£176.48 including the consultation, I found this unbelievable and made a point of letting the Surgery know.
Because my dog was in pain I felt it would be prudent to take the medication and argue the toss afterwards.
I believe that the practice know that you require the medication urgently and make you pay for this with inflated prices, rather than you paying for the prescription then waiting a couple of days from a reputable on line Vet.
I will list the medication below:
Onsior tablets: Vet UK 0.78p each Your Vets £2.86
Antibiotics Vet UK £1.26 Your Vets £3.49
Your Vets Antibiotics Synuclave Vet UK Synolux, both the same active ingredients. The Prescription charge would be a £17 but overall Your Vets £74.58 more expensive, are they taking advantage? In my opinion yes.
Overall my advice would be, do not use!
Not even worth the 1 star
Not even worth the 1 star. Brought cat here for routine vaccination & she had an allergic reaction that almost killed her. They lied to the insurance company so now they won’t pay out so now I am expected to fork out over £400 for their error.
Solihull branch
Solihull branch - Caring, friendly & professional
The vets, especially James are so caring and professional. The rest of the staff are very helpful and friendly too. We recently just had to have one of our dogs put to sleep, we had an end of life plan in place so when the time came it was really peaceful for our wonderful Westie. He and us was shown compassion and dignity throughout this difficult time and we cannot thank ALL of the staff enough. The end of life plan was a blessing, it took so much stress away at the time which meant we had more time with our wonderful dog. We loved the 'message tree' too, great idea and was nice to be able to write a message for our dog.
We used this practice for a number of years moving to their Wythall branch for one visit, the practice did not match up to the Solihull branch. The Solihull practice is modern and very clean with caring staff, we highly recommend the Solihull practice. Thank you all.
