I am extremely disappointed with the customer service I received.

I placed a large order for 20 metres of fabric and paid extra to have it professionally fire retardant treated. When the first roll arrived, the colour was completely different from what was shown on the website. As my upholsterer was already booked, I had no choice but to reorder the correct colour and pay again for both the fabric and the fire retardant treatment.

The second roll was dispatched quickly after I explained the urgency, but when we unrolled it, it was covered in marks that looked like glue and was completely unusable. I contacted the company immediately and explained that I needed a replacement that day or, at the very latest, the following day, otherwise my upholsterer would have to move on to another job.

To avoid any further delays, I drove to the shop myself and returned the faulty roll. What happened next was astonishing. Rather than apologising or taking responsibility for sending out faulty fabric, the staff blamed my interior designers for requesting that the order be rushed. The implication was that the quality issue was somehow our fault because we needed a quick turnaround. At no point did anyone apologise or accept responsibility.

To make matters worse, the third roll I collected had not been fire retardant treated, despite me having already paid for this service. The company also refused to refund the cost of the fire retardant treatment on the second faulty roll, even though the fabric they supplied was defective.

Overall, I found the entire experience incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. Mistakes can happen, but refusing to accept responsibility, offering no apology, and expecting the customer to bear the cost and inconvenience is simply unacceptable. I am genuinely shocked by the level of customer service and would not recommend this company based on my experience.

It was a great experience with helpful customer service talking me through all the fabrics in detail and tailoring the service to my needs.

I ordered some fabric which was listed as £4 per metre with a width of 135cm so I ordered a quantity of x 4 with my total coming to £16, expected to receive 1.35m x 4m of fabric but instead received 1.07m x 1.55m which is a fraction of the length and the width does not even match. Contacted customer service who were very unhelpful, this was my initial response which makes no sense ‘On your order, we saw the option 4 qty so gave you a peice in one piece. The fabric is £14.99 so if you ordered 4 metres it would have been £70.95 with delivery.’ This does not explain how my total was £16 for a quantity of 4 and they have refused to explain this to me, they have clearly made a mistake and are refusing to take accountability or send me the correct amount of fabric as stated in their last email.

the colours are not a slightly different colours this is a silver grey  colour,  how is that vibrant green, (3 other people have also confirmed my conclusion) did you get the roll and compare to your site picture like i told you? doubt it.
i can only assume from your comment you use poor screens, ive been in I.T. since 1979 all areas from creating first true colour lazer printer that could match any pan-tone colour , printing English money ect, so i know colours
mine is the most up to date 4k highest graphics  card on the market and most accurate true colours. mine is for graphics, media , photo design reproductions.
i have contacted a material supplier, curtain maker, binds etc in Coggeshall, essex.
they informed me in no way can a sample ever be called a made to measure, that is because nothing has be made from the material such as blinds, curtains, shades etc.
it is in fact a off cut which can be reused as it is a sample or  even smaller samples or used in making pillows, 
therefore in the trade it is not a made to measure,
you can not order any thing, without clicking the boxes! so proves nothing, this has been shown in court.
i'm dyslexic not stupid i cant follow any terms, that's why i phoned twice, and was assured you colours are true.
where on the display pages does it say these photo's have no colour resemblance to colour in the picture shown? as you are saying, (therefore they must be deemed to be true colour representations. (again must be shown in the same font on each sample page and not hidden
FACT, terms & condition do not trump consumer law. its the other way round. (consumer law must be adhered to.)
i have ordered a sample (stated as a sample on your site) (based on the pattern) not several meters, as i asked for and never received the requested repeat size, asked twice.
i have not order the items which would have been 3 pairs of large curtains costing over £3.5k hence the Sample
under consumer law. as you have supplied me goods (sample) that is not as described, therefore not fit for purpose
please arrange, collection from this address at your expense (can be dispose if you request), and refund in full.
ps this will be on trust pilot by the end of today to warn other of you colour to picture issues

i called you today at 11:39 this was a second call being a couple of days (the day i ordered) after i called asking for the repeat measurement for this sample
today's  call was after i received the sample (which is not as described, the pattern is correct but the colour has no resemblance to that shown on the web site, i discussed this with you , you asked for the code on the back of the sample i told you there is none, said someone would get back to me today to discuss, what has gone wrong this order and my measurements, this never happened. and again the repeat measurement was still not forthcoming.
as this sample (almost silver grey) this has NO colour resemblance to the site picture (strong green), i've put this in shade, in full sunlight, under bright natural light source ect, no mater what i use is still not even slightly green,  ""was more stating consumer law but limited with characters in this site ""

The worst of the fabric industry.
I made an order that I never received. No updates, nothing. And don't expect a refund as there is litteraly
zero costumer service. They don't reply to emails or live chat.
If you have the opportunity, go visit the shop in uk, maybre it's worth it, but the website is a scam.

Yorkshire Fabric Shop. What a great find. I have ordered a number of samples at different times and they have always arrived promptly and attractively packaged. From these samples I have selected 3 metres of a fabric for re-upholstering a precious chair and this arrived today by courier, thoroughly well packaged and wrapped. I was unsure about the fabric of my choice but after chatting to Jason, I was given some sound and extremely helpful advice. Jason then went on to ensure that the fabric was not despatched until after my return from holiday. I have to say I am delighted with the beautiful fabric. The quality is excellent and I can't praise highly enough the helpfulness and support I have received from staff at The Yorkshire Fabric Shop. The customer service is excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company.
I am now going to look at ordering some beautiful cushions from the samples which I have received.

This may be a good store in person, but don't buy from them online! Poor customer service, shady business practices.

I ordered fabric on August 2nd, received a confirmation of payment. I sent 3 separate emails to Yorkshire on August 27, 28, and 29, when nothing arrived, with no response. Raised a dispute with PayPal on August 30, who said they contacted Yorkshire with no response. Escalated the dispute with PayPal on September 2 to a claim, which prompts PayPal to claw back money from the merchant. Yorkshire shipped the cloth the next day, without responding to me or PayPal

The fabric arrived, but marked and stained. I could return it, but I doubt I'd get a refund or even any response from them.

This is a terrible company. Paid for a fire retardant treatment on fabric I bought from this company and it went up in flames. Please, please anyone who has bought fabric from this company have it checked. I was lucky. Yorkshire Fabric Shop wouldn’t even take responsibility for it, they just wanted the fabric back. Terrible costumer service, actually NO customer service. I would highly recommend Not using this company.

Three weeks since ordering samples and still no dispatch email. I’ve emailed twice over the last 8 days chasing but had no response. I spent over £30 just on samples so would expect them to arrive. I certainly won’t be placing an order for the actual fabric based on the shocking delivery and customer service. How am I supposed to get a refund if you won’t even respond to my emails? Do not buy.

Having to pay £3.00 per sample really lets this company down. I have worked in a number of fabric shops where samples have always been free of charge or under £1.00 per sample. This has also been standard across all other cloth merchants I have sampled with. As a student having to pay so much for samples is such a shame, especially when there is currently no alternative.
