I was in the Napa store to shop, a return and pu an order. It was almost closing time and a few minutes before I headed to the check out (I hate keeping ppl after hours). The lady who proceeded to help me (Trixie/Tori -something like that #2269?)helped me. I did my return first and has I told her about it she immediately asked if it was an online order. I said yes and showed my receipt. She had a hard time finding the order date. I helped her find it, then she had a hard time finding the total order amount, I helped her with that too! Maybe she was new, idk. I picked up my order ok, but when it came to ring up my store purchase she was flustered. I had hair clip (claw ice cream) that in the clearance area (lots of them) and it rung up original price of $12.99. Nope, I said as it was clearance. She never offered to go look or find out about it! So she took it off, or so I thought. My daughter was with me and we wanted her things in a separate bag which she was purchasing a gift bag. I had her things on top of the gift bag and had she started to ring them up, I moved the things so she could do the bag first and I could put the things in it. She freaked out and said, "No I haven't rung it up yet, don't".. I told her know and that I wanted her to ring the bag up first. She acted like I was stealing things! Afterwards I apologized for being there late. I got nothing back. I looked at my receipt and she charged me twice for the hair claw instead of deleting the transaction, then acted like I was bothering her for the -$28+ refund of HER mistake! I've worked in retail for 22+ years, would I get a little confused at times sure but not rude like her! Made for my visit at the Napa store less than positive!! She needs to chill didn't a bit!

After paying the shipping AND oversized item fees ($195 in fees on a small cabinet and bench) the items just didn't seem worth it. The cabinet was pretty expensive and I still had to put it together. Unfortunately the doors don't line up and there is no way to adjust them. I was offered a 15% discount. The other item is still "processing" after a few weeks and they won't cancel the order even though it hasn't shipped yet. They said that I just have to wait and then send it back once I get it. Seems ridiculous to me. It also takes a couple days to hear back from them each time I respond to the customer service email. I won't order furniture from here again.

I've never in my life experienced the worst customer service I spoke with a manager and Naya she refused to do a price adjustment when I was inconvenienced and told that I could put a birthday card on my order and I use PayPal and then she refused to cancel the order and redo it over the phone because it was PayPal so I just took my business elsewhere because there was nothing that she would do to make the order a little bit smoother and I felt like I was inconvenient so I won't be using this company ever again in my lifetime

Was also informed that despite staff protests furniture that was found with a rodent nest in the box was also “cleaned” and displayed for sale. I promptly left the store.

the site offers free shipping on orders over $49 EXCEPT for online only items??? So customer service can't tell you which items apply or not. They barely speak english and take forever to answer a question. They typically have children or babies making noise in the background. Is that the best they can do. What a crock! I used to love the store. Not anymore and most of their stuff is way over priced now.

I wish I could give them 0 stars. Awful! Their website is glitchy and it took my rewards and when they promised to put them back they didn't and they won't even let you speak to a supervisor even asking 5 times. Awful experience! Don't ever get their card.
Ordered online, refused to let us pick it up when we arrived, then sold it to someone else.
We ordered an easy chair we saw in store online the next day after considering it overnight. We then went to the store to pick it up. Even though there was one on the floor and the cashier said there was one in back as well, they wouldn't let us pick it up. They said we had to wait for a follow-up email saying it was ready for pick-up. I explained that online it said the store only had one in stock, that other people were looking at it and there was already a hold on my credit card, so we would like to take it home with us. They refused. Two days later we were sent an email that said "This is embarrassing, but it happens. The chair you ordered is no longer available. The good news is the hold on your credit card will be released within 72 hours." No apology. No offer to make it right. And the wording implying getting our money back within three days as "good news" was the icing on the cake. When we wrote in, they offered a 20% coupon IF we submitted a bunch of information to them, instead of just sending it in the response email. I then did a bunch of research about the company and their policies online, which are mostly very negative, including an article from former employees that said that if any furniture they intended to sell had any flaws they required their employees to break it before throwing it out. Wow. I'm done buying stuff from this company.
Terrible Customer Service
I received an item from World Market as a Christmas gift and went to the San Mateo CA location to exchange it for other items. The item was CLEARLY marked World Market with the SKU and price on it, and even though it was within 30 days of Christmas, they refused to accept it back without proof of purchase. I didn't get a gift receipt along with the item and even though I intended to get other things from World Market in exchange, they refused to take it back without proof of purchase. I took this policy as an inference that I stole it from them.

Buy in store only-the overseas online order customer service is awful. I ordered $850 worth of decor to stage a room in my home. One item was very damaged from being jammed into a tiny box and I contacted customer service for a replacement. I returned the damaged item via their label but they never sent me a replacement. I contacted their customer service about 3 wks later and asked again for the replacement. They ignored me, issued a refund immediately (which I probably wouldn't have received at all without contacting them so that's pretty shady)....they said they couldn't send me a replacement bc they had already given me a refund. I told them MULTIPLE times I just wanted a replacement. I then asked for a supervisor who said they would ship a replacement. I have no idea if that will actually happen given what I've experienced so far. If you shop, make sure it's in store. It's not worth the headache to deal with them over a return or a damaged item.
Their store pickup is false advertising!
I placed a store pickup order with Cost Plus World Market after receiving repeated email and SMS promotions advertising 10% off for store pickup. The messaging strongly implied same-day or near-immediate pickup. Based on that, I placed and paid for my order.
The order was confirmed and charged, but I never received a “ready for pickup” notice. Around 4:30 PM, I called the Oakland store. After finally reaching someone, they looked for the order, could not find it, and told me they would fulfill it and to wait for the email.
At 6 PM, I contacted customer support with my order number. Shortly before the store closed, I received a response from customer service stating that store pickup can take up to 72 hours.
That is absolutely not what was advertised. If I had been told upfront that pickup could take three days, I would never have placed the order. Advertising store pickup without clearly disclosing a 72-hour delay is misleading at best and deceptive at worst.
I have also repeatedly asked to be removed from their email list, which has not been respected.
At this point, I just hope getting a refund is straightforward. I was charged under false pretenses, and the experience has completely eroded my trust in this company.

How hard it is to ship a gift card. I bought a gift card on 12/ 7 and it still has not arrived on 12/23. They say it will be here on the 24th. YOU SUCK. I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM YOU AGAIN!!!

Williamsburg VA store
This is a review for the Williamsburg, VA store. On 11/26/25 I purchased two ornaments with a sign saying three for $12. When I checked out I was charged $4.99 each. I pointed out that, BY LAW, a retailer must sell at the lowest advertised price. In this case, $4.00 each. Manager didn't budge. If you go to this store be prepared to - possibly be charged more than the advertised price, AND, have their manager act like you are a piece of garbage.

I really like the interesting, varied and multicultural items that World Market offers, but as a company, they are a MESS! The other reviews here reflect this.
Their targeted marketing includes items that are sold out. Their website is a hot mess in terms of speed, functionality, and not hiding items that are no longer available.
I ordered two gift cards as housewarming gifts in the last 5 months. The first one, which was digital, was not delivered smoothly. To truly to avoid this, I ordered the second one to be delivered via mail. It never moved after it was delivered “shipped.” Customer service told me I had to wait an arbitrary week before following up. Surprise- still hasn’t moved 10 days later. Customer service has mot responded after 32 hours. I may just try to recoup this with my credit card company so as to not waste any more of my valuable time. This company offers terrible customer experiences and seems completely oblivious to it.

Customer Service Kudos for World Market – Tukwila & Renton Stores
I had never been to a World Market until recently, and I was so pleasantly surprised! My friend purchased the coolest, most comfortable chair, and I picked up a bunch of home décor and wall art that I absolutely love.
After I got home, I noticed one item had a few issues. I called the Tukwila store to check if they had another one in stock or if another location might. They looked it up for me and sent me to the Renton store, where I called ahead and asked them to set one aside. When I arrived, not only did they have it ready, but I also found another piece of art I loved. Although it was the last one, they kindly offered to give me the display off the wall! They also exchanged my original item with no hassle at all.
Later, I called Robert at the Tukwila location to ask if he could hold another item for me, since I couldn’t make it to the store right away and didn’t want it to sell out. He was more than willing to help and held it for me for a couple of days—so appreciated!
Nick and Alex at the Renton store were also incredibly kind and made my entire transaction easy and pleasant.
As someone who works with the public, I know how often people complain—but rarely do they take the time to say, “Good job!” So I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone involved. I can’t remember the last time I was this impressed with customer service at any store.
Kudos to the teams at Tukwila and Renton—you’ve gained a loyal customer!

Absolutely horrible experience
Absolutely horrible experience. Purchased a rug twelve days ago and it still has not shipped. I have emailed and called multiple times and cannot get anyone to give me clear information regarding when my order might be shipped (let alone arrive). I have been given plenty of form responses and wrong/contradictory information, though. One person said it 'was already shipped.' Another promised a specific ETA only for her supervisor to inform me that the ETA would not be honored and my order would be delayed. The ETA is still unknown and the company continues to hold my order hostage. Do not trust them with your money or time.
