My cats have eaten whiskas meat in jelly for all there lives untill now. They now mostly ignore it and if the do eat it get the runs so i will not be buying anymore, unless they change the receipe back.

If I could give them no stars I would! have emailed Mars about the food which has made my cats so ill, I have boxes of unopened pouches that my cats won't touch, nor now will I feed it to them. Vets bill cost me £90 to be told the cats OK, it's this awful food. They've admitted they've changed the recipe for the cats good, yeah right, it's purely for profit inmho. They replied to me saying that no one to their knowledge has complained about this cat food, that's not what this site says is it? They offered me £ 30 as a goodwill gesture, laughable and frankly insulting, some 6 weeks later my cats are still not eating like they were! My cats have had Whiskas pouches for the last 5 years with no problems whatsoever, coincidence? I don't think so. Am now left with boxes of food I cannot use, nor do I want to give to any charity in case it makes other cats as poorly as mine have been. Shame on you Mars

New Poor Quality Recipe! Cat Hates It!
I called Whiskas today and was told the recipe of the cat food has been changed. My cat hates it and this leaves me in a bind trying to feed him. I cannot afford experimenting with my cats food! ‘It’s a cost-of-living crisis’! Over the past months, I’ve bought 2, 40 pack boxes, different flavours and age (new packaging), he does not like them. The smaller Whiskas boxes with the old packaging and obviously old recipe, he loves. I put them both down side by side. With this “new recipe” Whiskas has reduced the quality of the meat/food in the bigger boxes. They want you to pay more for the smaller boxes (better quality).
He likes Sheba too but it’s too EXPENSIVE for me!!
They sent me a £5 voucher the stores do not accept!

My cat has been enjoying Whiskas…
My cat has been enjoying Whiskas pouches since being rescued 12 years ago. Not any more. He won't touch it. Over the years i occasionally tried different makes but always unsuccessful...always binning and going bsck to Whiskas. He is now eating home cooked food because you altered the recipe of the only manufactured food he enjoyed.
Now lets have a little bit of honesty from you now.
1. Its not improved .... Its cheaper rubbish ingredients because you are greedy.
2. Your advice .... Introduce new recipe gradually with cats regular food. Do you see your stupidity? Regular food was the OLD recipe which you discontinued!!!
3. I challenge you to produce evidence of these mysterious 1000 cats and their "pet parents" (how
patronising of you) that absolutely love this new recipe.
4. Instead of leaving gushing platitudes in replies to these reviews how about an admission that the old adage "if it aint broke don't fix it" is actually a good business model and and reassure us that you will reinstate the old recipe immediately.
Further to 4 above, at the moment pet owners are still buying your pouches so your bottom line is not affected however soon your sales are going to get hit as more and more peop!e boycott your product and search for alternatives. Even vets are becoming aware of your new improved inedible offerings.
Btw....i too have had to dump 40 plus pouches.

Recipe change disaster
Recipe change disaster. They are hiding behind a bog standard response of they did a market survey yada yada but the real customers here are telling you the truth. The new change to receipe has resulted in my cat refusing to eat it , it smells different too which cats can immediately detect. Cost cutting measures at the expense of cats is disgraceful. Your automated responses are pathetic too. Like others unless you revert back to the old style I alongside thousands of other will be leaving your company behind and will be using your competitors.

My cat used to have a handful of whiskas biscuits a day, since the recipe change and new packaging he won't touch it, I also complained directly to Whiskas about 2 months ago when they denied any changes at all 😡

Same as everyone else
Same as everyone else, cats refuse to go near it since the recipe change. My cats are like goats, eat anything super fast and aren't fussy at all. They are used to eating different brands so aren't bothered by food being a bit different. If they wont touch it, I am confused about the claims that 1,000 cats trialled it and loved it. Where did you find these highly unusual 1,000 cats!!

We therefore recommend introducing the product gradually to give your cat a little time to get used to the new product - Make the switch gradually over about a week, keep an eye on your cat’s appetite and digestion, and if your cat seems reluctant, try mixing in a little warm water or a treat to encourage them

My 4year old cat has been on Whiskers…
My 4year old cat has been on Whiskers cat food since she was a kitten, until now, she has been on a lot discomfort with this new receipie,and is not interested. I now have 30.packets of food which are going to be binned. Will not be using Whiskers again.

It's the "New Coke" debacle all over again
I won't bother repeating what the hundreds of other people on here have said about the disaster that is New Whiskas, and Whiskas UK please don't post the same boilerplate reply stating 1000 pet parents and 50 sensory screenings etc, just admit that you got it massively wrong and revert to "classic" Whiskas.
I've just bought 200 sachets of the poultry feasts in jelly which my cats used to love and they are now refusing to eat it after several days of encouraging them to try it. Big fail. I don't care if it was cost or supply chain failure, but those are the only realistic explanations for the change. Just sort it, please.

My cats only eat fish favourites in jelly, doesn’t matter what age range, have done for 4 years, they are 4! I buy box of 40 sachets at a time. I now have 38 sachets they won’t touch! I bought another small box as I noticed the packaging was different so wondered if it was just a rogue box! They still wouldn’t touch it! Why do you do this? Change something which is extremely popular? I am now trialing numerous different foods at great expense to find a food they will eat and wondering what do with the 49 sachets I have wasted my money on through no fault of my own. I don’t usually comment on things, but please can you bring back the old Whiskas fish favourites in Jelly recipe. It’s been over a month now and my 5 year old cat has been on food strike 😭
Everything was fine before and I thought she was just being fussy but noticed the packaging has changed and that’s the time she has stopped eating
I had one pouch of the old whiskas on 04/03/2026 and she ate that all straight away
I’m struggling, when she’s not happy I’m not happy, she will not eat 😭
Please can you fix this? I know it’s a lot to ask

Cats used to scoff down whiskers wet food. Just bought a box of 120 packets, noticed they are slightly different to the old 100g packets, cats wont touch the stuff now, even our strays. Something has changed in the recipe 🤔

Don't waste your money!
Well after 5 years of my cat eating Whiskers she will no longer eat it. I am struggling to get her to eat anything. Why change a recipe....you have lost a customer. Utter waste of money as I have a large box of food.

So disappointed you have changed the…
So disappointed you have changed the recipe. My cat now hates it. It was the only food he enjoyed. I am now wasting money on having to find another brand he likes. Why change a good thing. You must be loosing so many customers now.

Our updated recipe was created with input from over 1,000 Pet Parents and their cats, aiming to deliver our best taste ever. We’ve focused on flavours cats love by increasing the amount of animal-based protein and enhancing the aroma to excite their senses while keeping it pleasant for Pet Parents. The textures have also been improved - our jelly is now softer and more velvety, blending beautifully with the meaty pieces for a more enjoyable feeding experience.
We understand that every cat is unique and sometimes needs a little time to adjust to changes. We recommend introducing the new recipe gradually to help your cat get used to it. Cat food that cats wont eat.
Our 3 cats used to love whiskas. It was the only food that you could guarantee to buy knowing it would all be eaten. Now that they have changed the recipe, none of the cats will go near it. We now have about 150 sachets of different types of whiskas that we will probably give to a cat sanctuary, if they will take them! Whiskas uk claim to have changed the recipes for the better. Not sure they have thought about the customers who buy it. After at least 13 years of buying this product, it will be the last time.

We recently updated our recipes to make them even tastier for cats, while still providing all the essential nutrition they need. We’ve focused on flavours cats love by increasing the amount of animal-based protein and enhancing the aroma to excite their senses while keeping it pleasant for Pet Parents. The textures have also been improved - our jelly is now softer and more velvety, blending beautifully with the meaty pieces for a more enjoyable feeding experience.
These changes were carefully developed and tested with the help of many Pet Parents and their cats, and received enthusiastic approval from our feline taste-testers.
However, we know that every cat is unique and may react differently to changes. Sometimes it can take a little time for cats to adjust to a new recipe, and we recommend introducing it gradually if possible.

Why did they make the wet food worse?
Complete waste of money now. My cat will no longer touch the wet food after they changed the recipe. Humans may put up with lowering food standards. But cats certainly don't. If it's a cost saving thing, raise the price instead of reducing the quality so that cats will at least still eat it. Otherwise, you're just going to keep losing customers.

Our new gravy is richer and thicker, designed to blend smoothly with the meat chunks so your cats can enjoy every bite and get all the goodness in each serving. The jelly has also been refined to be softer and smoother, helping to release aroma and flavour faster, which makes the meal more tempting for even the fussiest cats.
These updates were carefully tested with discerning feline taste-testers and received enthusiastic approval. We’ve also updated how we communicate our ingredients to give Pet Parents greater transparency, clearly showing the percentage of meat and animal derivatives in each recipe.

I have 4 cats. Bought two 80 packs of whiskas pouches on line. Only one cat will eat these pouches. The other 3 won't touch it. It used to be their favourite. GOODBYE WHISKAS.
