I was felt terribly bullied and offended by Juan Caido, alledgedly the owner of the Valorum Art auction house in Switzerland.
I purchased a Van Cleef & Arpels necklace from Valorum Art. After payment, I have not received a "paid" invoice or post-payment pick-up instructions from the house. After I contacted them some time later, they told me to pay a storage fee, which was very high, even though they declared in the purchase email that the storage fee was CHF25 only. After I expressed my dissatisfaction, I started getting midnight calls from the auction house. After I asked them to communicate by email and not to call me at night, the first thing they did was start giving me calls and texts (in very poor English), calling me "crazy" and saying that they prefer not to serve people with mental health issues. Needless to say, it was the day I celebrated my father's 80th birthdayso the whole day, which meant to be a big event, was ruined.. After complaining to Drout auction, who firmly said the storage fee is CHF25, the valorum Art told me it is CHF150 and kept my item hostage. After I agreed to pay under the threat that they would sell it to someone else, the storage fee increased to CHF 175. I had to pay. Even after that, they have not sent me the "paid invoice" which is a must-have item for any shipping company to organise pick up. Finally, I received my item, but I never felt so miserable, ripped off, and humiliated in my whole life of buying luxury items from European auction houses. Now I hate the item and can not wear it. I would not recommend to buy anything from them at any price, as they will fully negatively charge you emotionally and they storage pricing is just a randomly picked number.
