Great idea, if only it worked!

Bought in 2024, this was wonderful when it worked, a pain in the ass when it jammed, I ended up shaking it, hoping to get coal out. I used the smallest size anthracite, but no matter what I used, it still periodically blocked. After about a year, it blocked solid, so for over a year now, I’ve had a rather useless garden ornament, and no way of accessing the coal, unless I tip it over.

Thank you for your feedback, and I am sorry to hear that you experienced difficulties with your Smart Bunker.

The Smart Bunker is designed to work with specific fuel sizes and types, and while many customers use it successfully for years, factors such as fuel size, shape, moisture content and bridging can affect the flow of material through the hopper.

It is disappointing to hear that your bunker eventually became blocked, particularly after initially working well for you. We would have welcomed the opportunity to investigate the issue and help identify the cause, as many blockages can often be resolved.

Don't bother for smokeless ovoids

Bought this a few years ago. For use with smokes ovoids. Nothing but grief. They jam in the hopper and on efforts to extract them the clip holding the release spring broke. Contacted the company and three years later no reply. Also once full the ovoids don't come out when hopper opens. So you have to take the out by hand then.. when it gets lower you have to rock the thing to get them to drop. Im sick of it now. I know it's award winning and for animal feed it may be. For coal ovoids.. forget it

Thanks Smartbunker for you acknowledgement several months later.. my initial problem was the spring loaded catch repeatedly disengaging... Year or so earlier. I contacted you through your web form on the contact page. No reply.. I've sold it on now though

The Smart Bunker is designed to work with specific fuel sizes and shapes, and fuel characteristics can affect flow and hopper performance. Many customers successfully use approved smokeless fuels and ovoids, however we appreciate that your experience has clearly been different.
