I want everyone to know how wonderful Shutterfly customer service is! The representative was professional and very understanding. I realized that i made an error with a project after receiving it.
Not only did the representative help me edit my project, but she offered to find coupon codes to reduce the cost of a second order of invitations.

Been using Shutterfly for 10 years for family photobooks, family calendars, wedding photobook, cards and more. Recent changes to the editing interface has had me now change my mind about using them any longer. The best perk of still using Shutterfly was how easy it was to make so many custom modifications to pages and creative options. Sadly that has now changed and it is no longer the easy interface it used to be. Much slower, old options not available, and last years print quality already had me a bit concerned. I can no longer recommend. I never liked the app, but not the app & website are not something I would recommend.

New Photo Editor is TERRIBLE. They have replaced the old system with one that is NOT user friendly and many of the old features are gone. I have been using this for 15 years and am looking at alternatives. I use a graphics design program for work (InDesign) and for someone who works in design, I have to say that this is terrible. As well many of the old features (layouts with flush photographs) and spell check on text are gone. When creating a layout, things don't move easily (for those used to the former advanced editor) and enlarging stickers is glitchy (simple lines won't easily increase). The alignment pink guidelines that pop up when stretching a photograph don't align perfectly with other edges of photographs -- EVEN WHEN ENLARGING THE WORKSPACE to 200%!!! Crazy!!!! Adding to the frustration is that the program glitches. When I open the program after not using it, my project's fonts have been changed in some areas. Things have moved. It's bizarre.

Shutterfly is a great custume centric company. I have used them for over a decade making oir family memories come to life in beautiful albums and prints. Recently the expedited book for a celebration of life and it got their in plenty of time to be enjoyed by all the attended. Congratulations on running a great company..

Ordered six things and everything turned out wonderful

The design process was easy but time-consuming to put together all the photos. They did a 24 hour design book which I did not use, but I did give me a lot of ideas. When I gave the books to the people that I had designed it for they were overwhelmed about how amazing and professional they looked. Just out of curiosity I did check out some of the other companies who were putting together photo books. Shutterfly had the most options and was far superior to the others. They were made and shipped in a timely manner.

I am so impressed with Shutterfly and the fast, wonderful photo books that I ordered. I was overwhelmed with all the photos and how to design my books. I saw that they have a free design option. I took advantage of that and I was able to order three books for my grandchildren, and they turned out better than I expected.

I ordered Photo ornaments for my grandchildren, and they turned out beautifully. Very pleased with the quality and sharpness of the photo on the ornament. Will definitely buy again.

I am very disappointed with the new version of Shutterfly, to say the least. I had no idea that there had been an "upgrade" until I tried to create a new photo book yesterday and was beyond frustrated when it took me 30 minutes just to align all the photos and text on one page. Simply unacceptable! I've made more than 50 photo books in the last 10 years with Shutterfly and have always found their editing features to be very user friendly until now. Not wasting my time trying to work through their new tools and have just switched to Mixbook. I won't consider going back unless they revert to the old version.

Shutterfly used to have customer friendly ways of making beautiful books and calendars. They have now made it impossible to make very personalized projects, due to taking away so many of the features I always used. What is with all stupid pink lines that cover the page on trying to line up the pictures for the calendars, you can't even see where you are attempting to move the picture. That is if it lets you try to move the picture after clicking on the picture multiple times. If you try to make the picture just a little taller, it automatically makes the picture shorter. Are we really supposed to spend 10 minutes or more just trying to get the size we want? I loved adding personalized pictures to the dates on the calendar for holidays and birthday, etc. You could change the color of the text and color of the dates, so they show up on the picture you have added, but that is no longer possible.
I just finished a book, which was also a nightmare. They have added so many steps to do simple things like deleting a picture to use someplace else. Why take the X off the picture, which was so easy to click and have to go find the remove tag after clicking on the picture? Never did find an add a photo box; had to use a larger layout and remove the unwanted frames. If I was a first time user, I would probably just give up after about 15 minutes and never visit their site again.

I just looked up the reviews on the new editing features that recently came out on Shutterfly and I can't believe the number of people who are ALL having the same issues! I'm on the bandwagon of FRUSTRATION just like everyone else!!! I've been a loyal customer with Shutterfly for 20 years myself and one of my hobbies is making calendars and family photo books. Most of the time I enjoy creating my own pages but with these new editing features it's simply impossible to get my photos to line up or sized correctly. After spending hours trying to align and match height and width issues on photos -- I'm just fed up!!! Why would you change a program that worked like a dream? Shutterfly, you are going to lose all of your customers if you don't reverse what you've done! You had the market!! You had the best photo editing features out there -- now you are worse than Walgreens and that's really bad!! I hate those pink lines when I'm trying to resize photos -- so Walgreens style and that hand for zooming in/out, and how you add borders ---- yeah you're just like Walgreens now! Hate it!!! Once I complete my projects, I'll be looking elsewhere, so I don't lose my mind while simply trying to align a row of photos, or match width and height (which this feature is gone now), or simply even out vertical spacing between a row of photos. Nothing works right!! Your new tools stink, Shutterfly!! Sorry to say!! YOUR CUSTOMERS ARE BEGGING YOU TO CHANGE IT BACK!!! PLEASE LISTEN TO US!!!!!

HORRIBLE! It's impossible to edit anything normally. You'd think that each year, the system would get better...no, each year the system gets worse and worse. It's 2026, update your stuff. It was more advanced 8 years ago.

I have been a loyal Shutterfly user for 20 years. They recently changed their program. It is horrible. It is not user friendly or easy like it used to be. The books and gifts I used to order were always amazing quality. If they changed their format and made it this bad, I am worried they might have changed quality too?? I'm not sure what to expect when I order a book I've been working on but can tell you that if you haven't uploaded 20+ years of family photos to this site... DON'T. Go somewhere else. Find an easier, more user friendly app. This new one is terrible and after many calls/complaints to Shutterfly with no success, I am considering moving everything to another website.

I have used Shutterfly for over a decade and typically have been very pleased. However, after my last order I will be using other services. We ordered graduation invitations and they were incorrectly formatted and printed wrong.
Mistakes happen. Customer service was very friendly and easy to get a hold of and they placed a replacement order. However, they came out printed incorrectly again with the same formatting issue.
I just asked for a full refund but that was not possible.
I asked for a reprint with expedited shipping.
Not only is expedited shipping not available, but this third order will take 5 days longer because they want to do a quality check.
Nice customer service but I wanted a full refund or expedited shipping and neither were available.
I have zero confidence that the invitations will be printed correctly and arrive in time.
We had a replacement order placed but will need to buy another set of invitations from someone who can print properly and deliver faster at this point. Pretty disappointed that a 10 year repeat customer couldn’t just get a full refund after two misprints but they can keep the revenue from my last order….which will now be my last Shutterfly order.

I am beyond disappointed with Shutterfly. I ordered 213 prints of my newborn and family photos, and 80 (plus) of them arrived completely unusable—heads, faces, and limbs are all chopped off due to terrible auto-cropping.
I reached out to customer service, and they promised a fix and sent a replacement order. The second shipment arrived and it was EXACTLY THE SAME. Over a third of my order is ruined for the second time in a row. Their "automated" fix clearly doesn't work, and they don't seem to have any manual quality control.
These are precious family memories, and I’ve spent more time fighting for a $24 refund than it would have taken to go somewhere else. Don’t waste your time or money here if you want your photos to actually show your family's faces.

I am incredibly frustrated and at a loss for what to do other than pray that Shutterfly listens to its customers. The new editor has ruined my long-time hobby and love of making photo books.
Since 2008, I’ve used Shutterfly to create photo books for trips, birthdays, and special occasions, as well as a yearly family album.
The recent changes to the photo book editor have made the process incredibly frustrating. I have always elected to use blank pages, advanced editing, custom path so I can have complete control over the entire design.

Main issues:

Photos snap to a hidden grid and cannot be freely positioned
Aligning and evenly spacing images is unnecessarily difficult
Dragging elements is glitchy and inconsistent
Even blank page layouts feel constrained, limiting design control

The previous editor was precise, fast, and easy. Why fix something that wasn't broken? Don't try to make a process easier for novice customers when you have long-time customers who are the backbone of the company and want the design control afforded by the old custom path. The few improvements (like the functions with the "hand") are far outweighed by how clunky, time-consuming and imprecise everything is now. And that Hand causes more trouble than it is worth- makes it so hard to select pictures to drag, select and allign.

Until now, I have never considered another program because this was simple. It worked and I knew how to use it. If Shutterfly doesn't fix this soon, I will be leaving when I am done with my yearly family album (if I can even hang in there for the next 8 months.)

What did Shutterfly do to their site? It is HORRIBLE! I make all 6 of my grandchildren a book for their birthdays. I have been doing this for 19 years. I actually have 3 books in process. Only to find that they have changed almost everything on their site. It is so complicated and not user friendly. Please consider going back to what you had,

I can't tell you how disappointed I am with the new Shutterfly project maker. Not only is it clunky and slow, I really dislike all the "Photo here" text" in the photo boxes. Very distracting.

It is too easy to move items by accident with this new photo book update. I preferred the option to click to the advanced mode to adjust layouts/photo/text boxes and then click out to simply add photos. Also you can't adjust more than one item at a time only vertically or horizontally. Now, it's only both ways. And the align tool is terrible. There's almost a 1/4" play when pulling frames up or down, no "snap" to another height/width. Also, the center line is all loose, it is not accurate at all any more.

I have been making Shutterfly books for years, spent hundreds of dollars, and this is the first time I've come to seriously reconsider making my latest one with it. It actually makes me angry.

I am getting error messages, photos aren't loading, previews aren't working....and it's SLOW.

Before it was a seamless process and now it is simply frustrating.

WHY did they change something that was working perfectly??????

I used to rave about Shutterfly and now I wouldn't tell a soul to use it.

Had difficulty creating an order for a photo cube because the wizard wouldn't allow you to remove a photo once it was placed. Photo cubes have square spaces, obviously, so until a photo was on it, I wasn't sure how it would crop. Had to restart the project every time a photo didn't crop well. Finally placed an order. First order got lost. They aren't sure if it was lost in production or lost in the mail. They guaranteed delivery of second, replacement, order by a certain date (this was supposed to be a gift) but I didn't receive any shipment notifications and when I called, it appears second order met similar fate as first. Representative couldn't tell me the status of the order - just said both orders read, "in production" or tell me when it was expected to ship. I received a refund and then had to panic purchase from Walgreens an item that could be made same day so that one of my three girls wasn't shorted a custom item in her gift.

I wish I could give it a negative number review. They recently changed their format and it's horrid. So hard to work with. Shutterfly used to be easy and fun and now it's unusable. I am in the process of searching for a new photo book software to use.
