On the good side, the culture is genuinely friendly and collaborative – even in finance you feel part of the broader team, not tucked away in a corner. I get really good visibility across the business (client accounts, payroll, budgets and cash flow), which has helped me build strong commercial experience.

Management is generally approachable and open to talking through numbers and resourcing decisions, so finance actually has a voice in the room. There’s also reasonable flexibility around work–life balance outside of peak periods, which makes it easier to manage personal commitments.

The main challenges are around workload during key dates (month-end, billing runs, payroll changes), when things can get quite intense. Some systems and processes could be better integrated, so there’s less manual clean-up for finance. Communication on operational changes that affect billing and payroll can sometimes come through a bit late, which means we’re often the ones catching up on the backend.

Overall, I’d recommend Shout Agency as a good place to work in finance: strong team culture, good exposure to how the business really runs, and room to have a genuine impact on profitability– with some room for improvement around systems, planning and communication.
