Shgroup Arvostelua 

I'm a shared owner in a block is jointly owned by SHG and L&Q, with SHG responsible for managing the building. We pay £220 a month in service charges and £350 a year in ground rent. They now want to charge tens of thousands of pounds to rectify problems in the building only seven years after we bought the place from them. The builders cut corners and didn't install cavity barriers. I cannot sell my property and even after I've paid for the work to be done there's no guarantee that banks will agree to lend against the property.

This is only the most serious of many problems. There are issues with the electrical wiring which they dismissed. When an issue with the shower installation was found, they made it worse with a bodged repair and then to avoid putting it right threatened that if they replaced it they'd have to replace the tiles around it with ones that didn't match the rest of the wall. When a leak in a riser cupboard flooded my flat earlier this year, they refused to deal with it for three days insisting that the leak must be inside my property and therefore my problem. Only when water started coming up through the carpet in the communal corridor (and through the ceiling of the flats below) did they relent.

The minute I can sell up and get away from leasehold under companies like SHG, I will. Don't buy from these people under any circumstances. When they tell you that the flat you're buying has passed all surveys, remember that's exactly what they told all of us and we're still paying for believing them.

One of the worst housing associations ever. They do not care about your well-being but only your money. I have been contacting them constantly about repairs to our kitchen and bathroom for the last 5 years. They try to prolong the complaint as long possible hoping that you would eventually give up. Recently they don’t even reply to emails and if you call them up, your passed around the department until someone suddenly “accidentally” ends the call. However, they are happy to contact you as soon as possible about rent or service charges.

DO NOT USE COMPANY. Wouldn't even give a one star, got the keys to my shared ownership, walked into the bedroom to see a massive mark on ceiling with mould and a leak, been 14 months still ongoing and my daughter caught bronchitis from the mould and southern housing are yet to do anything about it. We now sleep in the small bedroom away from it and the company think the room is safe to sleep in despite knowing what it has caused us and has not fixed it still. So many more problems on top of this aswell.

Rubbish landlord.. don't fix things when they break it takes months to get anything done and if they do send someone it's a half arsed job that leads to more problems. But they are very quick to ring you up for rent or to tow your car from the communal car park...
