You don't get what you pay for!

I paid for Escallonia Apple Blossom Hedging 40-50cm Pot Grown Shrub × 25. Every single plant failed to reach 30cm in height though. The plants also arrived with broken limbs and burnt brown leaves, something that I had questioned during transit as the plants were delayed by the courier and were left in the depot where they won't have been watered.

I was away with work when the plants arrived due to the delivery delay and my wife decided to get them planted and watered immediately.

When I returned I recognised that the plants looked much smaller than I had anticipated and when I measured them, every single plant was less than 30cm tall!!

The only reason I had chosen Scot Plants was because they were selling 40-50cm plants.

I thought a simple renumeration for the difference between plant sizes would be very simple once the company saw the images I sent but I am absolutely stunned by their stance on their email response.

"We have carefully reviewed the information provided. Unfortunately, we are unable to uphold your claim.
The photographs supplied show that the plants had already been planted before the claim was submitted. As we were not notified of any concerns regarding the condition or size of the plants upon delivery and prior to planting, we are unable to verify the condition of the plants as they were received."

They can see from the photos the plant size. What do they think I have done? Chopped 15cm off the plants? They can not shrink!

I explained my wife did not know what I had ordered in terms of the size and was more concerned by the lack of quality of the plants so she planted them as soon as they arrived.

Serious lack of empathy, accountability and a business that simply does not care about their customers. This is not how you do business and this is not how you build trust with customers.

There are many options out there when purchasing plants and you would do well to look elsewhere than Scot Plants Direct.

I ordered approx 50 Beech Hedges (bare root) and only approx 50% established. I contacted the Company and they were not prepared to replace the affected hedges at their cost despite using their root grow and following all the instructions accurately (they say they offer a 12 month guarantee). I ordered a further x 22 hedges from them at my own cost and despite stressing very clearly that I could not accept delivery during a particular window, they arrived during that window (when I was away). I contacted the Company and they said they would re-arrange delivery (and replace the bare roots that would have sat with the courier for 2 weeks with new ones). I am not convinced this happened as when the replacements arrived I followed the instructions again to the T and none of them have taken. I contacted the Company with photos to illustrate that there seems to be an issue with the quality of this replacement batch of hedges as none had taken. (the original x28 are flourishing well so I know it is not the soil /location conditions or neglect on my part). I have received no communication back from the Company so to be honest my confidence in the Company is zero !

Bought hedging on the basis of the company's guarantees. Half didn't take and they refused to replace them unless we paid for more, plus delivery. That's despite the clear guarantee on their website. We did get replacements from them at our cost, but most of these didn't take either. And the company isn't responding to emails. I would avoid this company if I were you.

This is the first time I’ve used this company and a very pleasant experience . I was let down badly by another company for gooseberry bushes and went in search online. I’m so glad fate intervened because the three plants I’ve just received are absolutely stunning, three huge healthy bushes. Delivery was good and the plants were well packaged. I will definitely use again.

Ordered 25 bare rooted hazel whips. Very impressed by height and size of root balls. They arrived late in the season and although we planted them immediately they didn’t come into bud. Customer services were good to follow up and I’m sure we’ll find a good resolution.

On the two deliveries of Mrs Popple fushia plants I had from you the first box contained 5 3litre plants two were okay the other three were badly damaged the second box of five 3 litre plants was so badly damaged and all plants were broken and destroyed absolutely appalling situation APC delivery service provided no care in transit of these items dispite the clearly marked labels to take care on the box

I ordered 4 blueberry plants on 19/05/26 & they arrived within 2 days. Well packaged & the plants look very healthy. I would definitely recommend this company 10/10

Ordered £200 worth of hedge plants/shrubs and seeds almost a month ago. Have made several phone calls following up on the order after 0 contact from the company. Was repeatedly given dispatch dates that didnt materialise. Then received a call that delivery was in progress, came home to take in plants, nothing there - have all neighbours looking out for these missing plants. Call in the morning to be told they had definitely been delivered - after having then reported theft to police, turns out the courier had never delivered them the previous day at all.

Eventually receive the plants after several missed delivery dates and they’re three times as tall as the product I ordered and about three quarters dead.

Hoping the refund process goes smoother than everything else has.

Superb quality of plants and delivered without incident.

Ordered bare root plants. Heard nothing. Chased with email to be told unable to fulfill. Won’t be heading back this way in future if I can possibly help it.

I have had beech hedging, amelanchier and privet hedging over the last 10 years. I cannot praise the growers highly enough, as the plants are always well grown and re-establish quickly in my garden. Passers-by often comment on the beautiful copper beech hedge.
The amelanchier canadensis hedge (3 years old) is looking spectacular at the moment and last autumn was covered in berries, followed by stunning autumn colour.

I ordered a magnolia, was firstly advised it would be ready to collect 23/3/26 so drove along to collect it only to be disappointed, I was supposed to receive a phone call later that day from (A) but she never bothered to call. Waited another week, so two weeks in total and again no plant but they refunded me and cancelled the order without telling me it was only when I phoned them to check if it was in yet that I found all this out. Very disappointing and not very good customer service. It would have been nice if they had phoned to advise me they had cancelled and why ? But they unfortunately didn't.

As with all plants complete satisfaction isn't something you can comment on till the plants have had a couple of seasons. Ordering, delivery & plants on receipt were as expected.

Pleasant company with clear and friendly communication that does what it promises. I hope to order again soon because the plants delivered are of good quality.

Plants arrived as expected and in good condition. planted within two days. won't know how settling in until spring growth.

Plants arrived in great condition and I planted them all right away. It will be spring before I know if I did it correctly. But Scot’s plants direct did great.

I ordered two holly bushes Ilex miserveae ‘Little Rascal’. They came beautifully packed in mainly recyclable packaging and were healthy, well established plants. Really good value for the money.

I ordered 10 bare root photinia. Delivered early November. Generally all looked very healthy and were a decent size. A few had a snapped branch. One was had grown slightly wonky, but nothing that should affect it too much.

Ordered bare root Cherry Laurel for the garden in October. The price was excellent, delivery was very fast and on time and the quality of the plants is beyond expectations. The information provided and packaging and care taken was A ⭐️
I live in remote Argyll and the delivery was not a bother at all. I would absolutely not hesitate to buy from this company again - a pleasure from start to finish.
