Sash Window Preservation Arvostelua

Not cheap but excellent proficient service. Sympathetic sash window replacements in a conservation zone. No mess, no fuss and the rooms are already feeling warmer and quieter. So well worth it in the end.

Extremely good result
Very pleasant and engaging fitters Nick and Dan who talked everything through carefully beforehand did a superb job. Covered floors and furniture to protect it all and cleared up brilliantly afterwards.

Decided to order 11 windows with them. There were good aspects and aspects I feel there were rooms for improvements.

Good aspects:

The price was reasonable for all timber sash with individual panes of glasses. not the cheapest in the market but is of good value. They also use accoya which is a fantastic material for sash windows.

Quality was great, they fit the window frame perfectly, there was no problem with the windows and they all delivered on time in good condition.

the presale communication was great, the demo they booked us in for the initial consultation was informative and friendly. we got a lot of our questions answered.

the installation process was smooth, the installer were very skilled and professional.

If you have good period frame, they can just do the sash inserts replacement to double glazing. and they are able to do white space bar so it is not obvious to tell it is double glazed.

They can take American Express as payment method

The bad side:

After the initial deposit paid, there is a decline in the quality of communication. not very responsive and a difference in customer service rep attitude when chased for an update.

There was a delay for installation, I was very annoyed about the delay as I was constantly in contact with them and they were like 'yeah, everything is fine and on time' only a few weeks before the installation they informed me that it is not going to be on time and will be delays. I was really panicking cause we have a lot of other renovation works lined up to be done after the window installation and the weather was getting cold. The customer rep was not very sympathetic and was just very passive aggressive in that particular stage wasn't very pleasant.

We were over promised about a lot of things. We live on a busy street, we were promised that we will notice a big difference in noise reduction after the double glazing, but in reality it was more like only 10dB (from 55 dB to 45 dB) reduction which is not how we were imagining as they said it will be a huge reduction in noise. They also over promised about the method they were going to use when doing sanding. I mentioned that there was lead paint in the existing frame, in the demo call they promised that they will do it in a safe way. But in reality on the day they just used normal dry sanding. If I was warned about this I would get my belongs out of the room beforehand and get my partner out of the house that day. I was very upset and furious about this.

The window installer chipped the paint when installing. however they just painted over with some primer not the paint we paid for (slight deference in colour), and in places they didn't even paint anything back and left exposed. I was lucky enough to have scaffolding outside and we are very handy ourselves so we noticed the chips and painted them ourselves. I don't know if other customer who are not very handy would do in these cases, I imagine it will be the weak point for wood rotting. They have also not painted the bottom of the window after they have done some alterations to the window. Only on one raining day we noticed that the bottom was not painted and was even getting a bit mouldy! We painted them ourselves immediately, but I was expecting the installer at least to paint in primer or notify us that we need to do something about it ourselves.

overall I think they did do a good job but for the money twenty odd grand we paid we expect more in how they could make the process smoother and pay more attention to details.

Scott and Shay have just finished my bay window, and I cannot say how pleased I am with the result. This is the second time that I have used Sash Window Preservation for a fiddly job. They are always efficient and hard working and clear up all the mess. They keep you well informed on what is happening and I will be getting them back again to do the replacement and final refurbishment of the windows in the rest of the house

Ours has been a large project - 25 windows, casements and French doors in all. Our house is old (1820s) throwing up a number of challenges - out of true frames, very old sashes, difficult access in parts, and some large and complex fittings. I am delighted with the result. The house has been permanently changed for the better. The windows look exactly the same from a heritage point of view but the paint lines are much cleaner and glass clearer. We don’t have any draughts, outside noise is much reduced and every window now glides open and shut. The house is noticeably warmer. It's also more secure thanks to the toughened glass and security bolts (a feature I hadn't properly appreciated).
We've had about four teams at different times doing the fittings. To a man they have all been friendly, hard working and professional, genuinely committed to doing a good job. Any snagging has been dealt with promptly. Couldn’t fault the service or the product.

Would recommend Sash Window Preservation Ltd 100% over any other company. The standard of workmanship is excellent and their installation team (Dan & Nick) were professional and very careful in their work. It is such a shame we used another less professional company to do the first 2 windows.
Cant recommend them enough

Danny from Sash Window Preservation came one Saturday to fit insulation and carry out a general health check (weights checked, cords replaced, etc). I could feel the difference both in the draft proofing (no draughts) and operation of the windows as soon as he finished. Danny was extremely knowledgeable and professional and carried out his work in an efficient, neat and tidy manner. Highly recommended.

Nick and Dan did an excellent job renovating and restoring three sash windows and a door. They were professional, knowledgable, friendly and cleaned up at the end of each working day and we are delighted with the result. We would highly recommend Sash Window Preservation.

Sash Window Preservation are incredibly straight forward to work with. They know their trade exceptionally well. There teams are punctual, careful, skilled and leave everything very tidy. My windows are all repaired and work brilliantly. Thank you

We had 11 large sash windows, 2 large venetian style sashes, a set of french doors and surrounds plus 11 casement windows that form a big screen over our entrance door draught-proofed and slimline double glazed by Sash Window Preservation.
The service was great from start to finish and you can tell how in demand they are from the lead time!
Initially Daryl and Alex (assisted by Nick) were on the team and the job was finished beautifully by Matthew with Simon's assistance.
We're delighted with the result and although it's too soon to know about any difference in heat retention we feel confident there will be as the whole feel and sound of the house is improved already.
We also had some of the windows painted by sister company Rococo and this was a very good decision indeed! Saved so much hassle having professionals deal with things before the full installation.

Great service once again from Sash Window Preservation. Thank you to Gary & Ricky, Adam & Richard and the rest of the team for another great job.

A big thank you is extended to Ricky, Gary and the whole of the SWP and Rococo Painting Co. Teams for our really beautiful handcrafted windows. SWP were recommended to us by friends who were impressed by their own SWP experience.
SWP made 2 bespoke sash and thirteen bespoke casement windows for our non standard construction listed cottage. The whole task was carried out with great professionalism.
The Installation Team consisting of Alex, Darryl, Alex and Danny were very polite friendly people, who were obviously proud of their workmanship and their product.
The Painting Team consisting of Emma, Matt and Dan, ensured that the windows looked amazing at the end of the installation. A particular thank you to Matt and Dan.
We thoroughly recommend the services of SWP and Rococo Painting. Wishing both companies continued success.

On the 2nd September (2023) Robbie came to restore the sash window in our bay window, which had not been attended to for a long time and did not function properly. Being 75 years old I found the window very difficult to open an close (and was draughty).

Robbie was clearly a very skilled craftsman, personable and friendly, efficient, and quick.

No complaints whatsoever.

The company and their work came highly recommended to us from a neighbour in our Victorian terrace. And now that they have completed the replacement of all the sashes in the front of our house, we can happily pass on that recommendation. Excellent company to deal with and excellent workmanship.

A very positive experience throughout the entire process. Daryl and Alex were excellent craftsmen. They arrived promptly, explained everything to us and worked extremely hard and efficiently. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them, thank you!

Workmen were courteous and efficient; windows installed as planned, with nice adjustment of dates.

Great service and all around experience. Windows look fantastic

Friendly guys, who were super tidy! No mess left at all which was great. They did a quick job and ensured it was done on time even when curveballs arose.

From first contact to completion of the work everything has been dealt with promptly and to a high standard. All queries were answered quickly. I have already asked for a quote for further work to be done. Extremely happy with the work carried out.

Daryl and Alex were professionals and inspired confidence. They arrived promptly each day, worked through and tidied up after themselves. Thank you.
